I think though, are Thai wives of farangs worried more about their man going with other Thai women? Because, if he married Thai, that means that he likes Asian women and that means that he will be more likely sedused by other Thai women. For some men Asian women are not their cup of tea, so their western wives are not as worried, isn't that true?

It's not surprising. Thai women are the most beautiful in the world. I often find myself leering too. Many lovely, lovely women. Why did I spend my younger, single years in the States?

The more country is developed and the more rights women have in that country, the less attractive they will look to men, and the reverse. Examples are UK, USA and other developed western countires. In the developing world, women must look good and attractive, as they rely more on men for living, and if they will not be beautiful and sexy, their chances to be picked up are much slimmer.

but there are places in Thailand for western women to enjoy as well, and western women get bothered here almost with the same intensity as western men. So Thailand caters for both!

That's for damned sure, or in the States for that matter. Funny, back home a woman never gives me a second glance, here women of all ages crane their necks. My wife is often told how handsome her husband is. Trust me, I'm not.

I've been there once, wasn't worth it for me, too posy, too many girls standing like a statues, afraid to damage their make-up, showing off their diamonds....and guys look like pimps...

But as of hookers, Bed and Qbar are full of them, too bad for Qbar though, because otherwise it's a good club, but now I'm not going there anymore and nor my firends because of that...

I don't tip them, I just leave some change (5-10 Baht) when I pay them, these guys often rip off tourist and farang, giving them a fixed price, and beleive me they know how to survive the harsh times.

Yes, C&P on Sukhumvit did a great job on the dresses I made for my friend, although I think they are not cheap, but the quality is very high, I recommend.

Brits think they are superior for some reason...but I have another question: why are so many of them here? why most of tourists, expats or those married to Thai are British? Is it so bad to live in England? Really, I'm just curious to know.

In many countries there are policies to charge residents and non-residents different prices, so in Thailand it's the same thing. By the way, for foreigners living in Thailand (expats) they have a very significant discount, I think it was something like 350Baht, that's what I paid and it is worth going, it's a very nice aquarium.

I think the progress would make sense for local Thais, that live here and have families and children, but for expats, tourists or foreigners that are here for the job it doesn't really matter. In fact, it's better for them that Thailand woudln't make any progress and remain a 3-d world country, since it provides cheap living, cheap food, clothing and other things, that foreigners love here so much. Look how many foreigners live here and have families, and why? Because of all these.

Some men enjoy spending money on a chick, especially if they are not very good looking, and kinda loosers, cause that makes them feel big shots and feel like they own this person and can get together with her whenever they like. For the girls here it's a good bet, they have the freedom to do what they want (get married, have boyfriend, kids etc), and for the guy it's also good, cause otherwise who would even look at him, let alone, touch him?

So if it's a good deal for both of you, go for it, and everyody would be happy

wow, I'm stunned! This is the first time I see anyone wants to meet caucasian women in Thailand...it is a real rearity...As of Qbar and other pubs and discos around Nana, the "hungry" Thai girls took over business there and won't let the farangs land their eyes on anything else

I think there are way too many Brits here in Thailand (we can see it every day on the streets) and for some reason they think that their accent and slang is the best, but everybody in the world uses American English and American slang, so stop making such a fass about yourself.

I have big feet - size 8 - and I find shoe shop terribly depressing here.

Size 8???? I have size 10-11, 41, and that's what I call big feet! And even then, beleive it or not, I manage finding shoes here, although it requires a hel_l lot of patience and lot of walking around and looking...

after buying trillions of flip-flops and ruining my feet with them (have knee problem now, because of wearing flat shoes for so long), I now switched to sneakers for every day and evening fancy shoes for going out, but not high heel due to the pavement condition....

I've noticed in many places they sell sometimes free samples, usually of goods that come from abroad...

When these young girls have such behavior with me, I usually give them back the same attitude. However, I think this is just a younger generation, they can be quite similar around the world, can be more rude to people than the older ones. I often encounter another problem: I ask for something and the shop owner or the sales person say they don't have it, when I can clearily see that they do. So I can't figure out why they do it, don't they want to have business and sell their products?

Thailand attracts a very certain type of foreigners (not talking about tourists), so that type of people like living here, but others don't. However, Thailand I think is a good place for tourism, it has what average tourist needs: cheap lodging, cheap food, good weather, cheap shopping etc.

I know that one should not tar everyone with the same brush, but one thing I am not missing is the type of foreigners (especially from my own country) that end up staying long time in Thailand.

You are absolutely right about the type of foreigners, nobody would miss them. It's good though they found a refuge in this country. I myself live here for two years, will never come back, and if knew, how the life is here, wouldn't have signed the contract. There are good things about Thailand, but I would be happy to just visit, enjoy, but not live here.

I see sometimes both retired man and woman go for Thai girl as a couple....

You need to buy a car if you are planning on living in Bangkok for long time. Then there will be no sweating, no bargaining with the cab driver, no BTS climbing, no dirt from the street and you still will be able to pick up a hot chick from the car..
