  1. Used them for years. Always paid COD, but the last few months many items not arriving even after tracking states they have been packed and handed over to the shipping agent company. Then after waiting a few weeks cancelled by Lazada.
Mostly these are the Chinese sellers although one BKK seller I used to use says they have items in stock which they obvious don't.
If these sellers told you at time of order they were out of stock, one could mover on to the next seller.

  2. 2 points are actually unclear:

1 - during songran, are the check points everywhere in Pattaya and everynight ?

2 - will the check points last AFTER songran ? is it a new policy ?

For the last point, today nobody knows ! And I suggest everyone to avoid to drive drunked in Pattaya for at least 1 month, wait & see !

There was a road block on the darkside at the crossroads about 5 k up from Suk. at about 10pm tonight. (Near to where you live Raro) I had only had a couple of soda's, and was waved though. I went straight home after stoping at 711 for further refreshment

Most of the motorbike taxis I had taken over the first 2 years were more drunk than me, which is why I have driven after 2 or 3 beers for the last 8 years. If I have had more than about 4 or more beers I normally stay in a hotel over night, although not always if I felt unafected.

I think my trips to Pattaya town in the future will be very limited , unless I can get a lift into town. As Raro stated earlier, no taxis or baht busses available a few miles up SC Club. (Maybe you can open a Music bar at your house Raro.)

I am not one to get drunk every night, but looking at the tables, it seems that more that 2 beers a night over a couple of hours can get you locked up in what compares to a WW2 japanese prison camp, ... and then maybe later deported losing everything you own in Thailand.

I really hope the OP had a a sucsessful day and didn't geet his visa revoked.

  3. I checked in at Suvarnabhumi on the 20th March 3 hours before my flight at about 10am.

The check in lady told me to go straight to Immigration as they were very busy.

Thought it a bit odd as I was one of the first 10 or so peason to check in and wondered about the couple of hundred people or so behind me on my flight, but went as fast as I could to security.

Need not have rushed as I was through into the departure loung in about 15 mins.

  4. It is mother nature's way of cleaning the dirt and slime off the streets.

Seems you never have been close to a real storm. I would not mention it if it would have fun today. Never seen like this in 5yrs here.

Soi Country Club, Soi 13. Been here over 8 years and this was the worst I have seen.

Three medium sized trees and a large fan Palm in my garden down, and opposite on free land two very large trees flattened and broken up.

LOL, within 3 hours the trunks on the land opposite were chain sawed and taken away by two trucks leaving the branches and foliage half blocking the Soi.

  5. Have had many problems with my 3BB Premier service over the last few months.

I even replaced my 2 year old computer for the latest spec. a couple of months ago, but the repeated problems have not changed.

1530 never admit to anything wrong in my area,(Pattaya,) and tell me it must be my wiring into the house or a router problem.

Had new cables fitted to house from their new direct box at a cost of 2,500 baht a few months ago,and have taken the router to their office for checking three times now, to be told it is working OK.

Then after about 12 to 24 hours after the problem the service is back. This Friday evening lost the signal until Saturday night. Five calls to 1530, again to be told the problem must be mine and an engineer will phone me. This never happens, although as said, the service normally returns a few hours later.

Told them yesterday that I wanted a discount on my next bill, but they said no can do as it the problem must be my fault.

I just wish the call center would be honest and say there is a local problem and it will be fixed over the next day or two, but TIT.

  6. Thainet,

I too live off Siam Country Club Road, and lost my 3BB connection about a week ago.

After 3 days of calling the call centre, an engineer finally came to sort it out.

He told my wife that they had put new cables in our Soi with a new black box connection for their customers, and that TT&T had now blocked 3BB services though their land lines.

Went on to say that we would need a private contractor to connect from the box into our house, or that he could rewire it into our existing land line wiring, but this would mean we would have no telephone service anymore.

I only ever used the land line for internet anyway, so told him to go ahead with the rewiring.

Since then the service has been reasonably good to fairly bad, with some complete cuts in the service.

What I don’t understand is why do they put a new cable and box in and then wait for the customer to be cut off and have to call them out to be reconnected, but TIT.

  7. Been offline since last Sunday, until yesterday (Thursday). Phoned the TTT 3bb call centre help line many times to be told there were no problems in my area, Soi Country Club. I read here that earlier that there were many problems from last weekend

After 4 days of about 10 calls to them, and a BKK number they gave to me, they sent 3 engineers this afternoon to check my land line which was dead. After checking it (and re wiring it) they said there were still no problems, and to get a private contractor out to check my wiring going into my house, for which they gave me a tel number of thier friend to re-wire the connection of my current wiring . They said that they could not check inside my house, and to call the number they gave me.

Strange, because after they re-wired the out side box, the connection worked again, although cutting off every few minutes as it has done for the last few weeks now.

On TTT 3bb 2m Premier paying 1,160 baht a month, and it sucks big time.

Speed checks to BKK are about not bad at 1.6 mbps download earlier, but the upload speed is very slow at about 0.02 mbps which is too low to use Skype, plus the connection drops out many times per hour.

Also torrents are almost at a stand still now.

I think it is time to find a new provider, but any recommendations?

    mike.

  8. Bobby (the owner) said on the local TV promo. that it was about an hour wait in the evening to get a table, and pointed to customers hanging around outside.

Great news for him, but I would rather go somewhere more expensive that wait around outside. Wish him every success though.

  9. Great music bar, and have been going since they opened. Even played there a few times earlier this year with my UK band, plus Pookie, Ex. EasyRiders on lead Guitar.

On youtube as T2 in Thailand. No link as I don’t want Raro to delete or have to close this thread, LOL. :)

    Worth a visit, especially when I’m not playing. :D :D :D :D

  10. Hi Mobi,

I live a few K down on Soi Country Club, and have the same service.

It’s been a bit slower than usual, but has been working for the last week.

Good to meet up with you at last a couple of weeks ago, had no idea that you were moving on after the new guys get sorted. Will pop up in a few days.

    Cheers,

    mike.

  11. Interesting post.

I’ve had the same problem twice now with my Tiger Hilux 3L EFI Diesel.

7 years old , but only 68,000K completed.

First time about 2 months ago in a traffic jam, and then 3 days ago after I pulled up to take a phone call leaving the engine running.

Both times the engine light came on and I shut it down for a few seconds, and then everything seemed to be ok again.

Will try disconnecting the battery, reconnecting and turning the ignition on for 20 minutes as suggested. If that doesn’t work, I will have to take it to Toyota for a check.

About the same time this problem started, I’ve noticed the power steering is not smooth at standstill anymore, but ok on the move.

Seems to be worst in the wet, and almost fails when driving though floods. Anyone else had this problem?

    Cheers,

    Mike.

  12. Will be in the UK until the 23rd.

Although I stayed during Songkran for the first 3 years, the last 4, I have retreated back to the UK, partly to avoid Songkran, and partly to see my father on his birthday. (90 this year)

During the first 3 years I remember having a few very close shaves on my bike and truck, and feel that driving in Pattaya during this mad week is not advisable. LOL.

  13. The best scotch egg EVER was in Best Supermarket, North Pattaya. I admit that I was fortunate with the timing, as it had just come out the oven and the lady was about to put it on the shelf. I relieved her of her wares and scoffed it promplty.

Yes, Best Supermarket near Dolphin R/B. Not available every day, but a few times a week.

At 25 baht for two, (cut into four halves) Very good value.

    Cheers,

    Mike.

  14. Just got back from Soi 4.

A long day first day, as I was told to be there at midday for a sound check, although it was nearer 2-30 pm, TIT, LOL

A good late afternoon and evening with good music and entertainment from all those that gave up their free time for a very good cause.

A big thanks to all the sponsors, especially Davethailand of the Blues Factory, for the prior rehearsal days.

Really enjoyed it, and look forward to Saturday.

  15. Test from 4 KM up Soi Country Club. TT&T Maxnet Indy, 1meg connection.

Download Speed: 1760 kbps (220 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 406 kbps (50.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Latency: 176 ms

    20 September 2008 02:37:45

Very good results, although I find I have to I have totally exit torrent downloads to get connected anywhere when I want to surf.

  16. Update.

I had a meeting with the owner of deedial’s Pattaya’s franchise this morning.

He also knew nothing about the UK 441 code price increase, and phoned deedial’s boss immediately.

Dedial confirmed that due to a satellite problem for calls to the UK land lines starting with (44) -1, are now 7 baht per minute, although it was hoped to sort things out over the next few days and get the charges back to 1.5 per minute for land lines. Calling a UK Mobile remains unchanged at 7 baht per minute.

It was suggested by the Pattaya office to try using the zero normally left out (44-01) This seemed to work as I was told before connection the amount of minutes were left on my account, which seemed to be in line with the 1.5 per min charge. However, I did not wait for an answer as it was in the early hours in the UK.

Must add that the Pattaya office were very helpful, very much concerned about this problem and will be putting the pressure on until it is sorted out.

    Cheers,

    mike.

  17. The 1.5 baht a minute for UK land lines from deedial was upped when I used it yesterday to over 400%, although still advertised on their website as 1.5 baht per minute.

Phoned customer services to be told they now have a very special price for 44 (UK) code land line numbers at 7 baht per minute, and they were NOT announcing the price increase on their website yet.

I ASKED WHY NOT AND THEY SAID, CAN NOT DO YET. (TIT)

... So not worth using them now as it is about the same as the 09/08 on normal mobile services.

Went down to the deedial franchise company for Pattaya on 3rd Road, but it was closed up, maybe because Sunday though?

Good while it lasted, but think they just gave cheap calls to get people to buy their prepaid cards before they upped their prices to the average rate, as I did a few days ago.

  18. I’m just 4K up Soi Country Club.

90% of the time this channel is off tune and in B/W, with the sound also off tune on a newish Samsung LCD.

Most of the other Sophon channels are received with good reception though, apart from the Reality channel.

On my old Samsung TV, (in the bedroom,) PP and Reality are slightly better, although still not good enough to watch for more than a few minutes.

Have a signal booster, and manually tune in all my channels for best reception, but have given up with PP over the last couple of years due to the terrible quality.

  19. Sorry to hear about your accident, Mike, I thought your pick-up truck was large enough to ensure your right of way? :o

Anyways, as Cuban just said, the new markings make it pretty clear....Soi Siam Country Club is the main road and the others have to wait.

    Raro,

It is, but I was on my bike that day, and had to drop it to avoid a head on from a truck who thought he had the right of way. Ended up with missing him, but a fist size burn on my leg after being tapped under the bike for a some seconds, also of course he didn’t stop to help me.

No matter, better now, albeit a big scar, but now thought it good to warn others as nothing has improved 4 months following my accident, especialy further up near the water works Railway Junction .

  20. Be careful on the new bypass roads in Pattaya.

Ok, the new roads going across Soi Country Club and up to the railway line near the Water Works are nearly finished, but it seems to be a free for all at the cross roads, with no one knowing who has the right of way.

I had a mishap a few months ago when the right of way on the half finished roads were still in favor for the older roads. Took about 2 months to recover, but am ok now thankfully.

Many more accidents there now and wonder how many lives will be lost before the authorities become aware that something should be done to rectify it. Not that I am holding my breath, TIT, and life is very cheap.

    mike.

  21. I’ve used my own water filter system in Patts for more than 4 years now.

A fairly basic 5,000 baht, three filter system, changing the filters every year.

Ok, we might be lucky, but never a problem so far in drinking home filtered tap water.

I would guess that these road water machines have a better filter system than ours, but have never tested them.

    Cheers,

    mike.
