Slowest peak season in the past 10 years on Samui. But, I think alot of it is due to the 4 day power outage, and the historic government bungling of the repair. It did tremendous damage to Samui's reputation. People here are really hurting. Alot of the new tourists are Chinese and Russian, and they do not spend much money.

I think 1660 volts would be more of a deterrent. Think of the reaction the other young thugs would have, when they saw their 15 year old friends fried to a crisp.

Thai people simply do not look in the mirror. It does not happen. Zero in the way of introspection, or how can we improve, or what did we do wrong? The whole concept of 'face' is about avoiding the problem as a coward does.

Let's break this down for you. You are paying $3.30 for a one hour massage. So yes, you are a fabulously cheap Charlie if you do not have the heart and soul to give this gal a tip. Would you work for 50 Baht per hour? And does that extra 40-50 Baht mean more to you, or to the massage gal?

The question pertained to thailand. Who cares about milky white skin. Boring! And Vietnam. Who would even want to come and visit the relatives, much less live there? Boring, cold, lifeless people, who treat many foreigners with contempt. Thailand beats the hell out of both.

Yes this is why you ask for the meter BEFORE you get in the taxi. These guys are motivated as the taxi que is very long so they are motivated..Many Thais will take you for a ride if you let them.

The largest disaster in all this nonsense is the Surat governor. He utterly failed and is not being held responsible as is ALWAYS the case in the LOS where adults behave like 13 year olds and bury their heads in the sand. This way the problems go away.

Surat Than governor visits Samui after blackout ends, to ensure he can get hot coffee. Can you imagine this creton having the nerve not being on the ground the entire time? Does absent during a crisis even begin to cover him or little yingluck? Both should be immediately reprimanded or worse.

The service industry is disappearing worldwide. When in the US, it has become very difficult to find service people. So why should Thailand be any different? You want service, walk into a Louis Vuitton store with 50,000 Baht for a purse.

You most definitely need to get a post office box at the closest post office. They do not seem to like your address. Have had a box for 2 years, and not one issue yet. The Thai post is xlnt
especially when shipping EMS.

Zero political inspiration. Just a desire for competence, or is that not a concern to you? Is the concept of leadership too fat fetched in this land. Or does the majority of tourists abandoning the 3rd most popular tourist destination warrant concern?

This incident further serves to illustrate the overwhelming need for Yingluck to submit her resignation. Her level of detachment from what goes on in thailand at the micro level is astonishing. She should have been on the ground in Samui during this national tragedy. It is an abomination that this was not a resolved within hours, with the assistance of the military, if necessary. Events like this simply cannot be allowed to happen, and if they do must be resolved within hours, not days. She must resign now.

Since when does 20 grams or marijuana being used recreationally make one into a drug addict? Are you a Quaker, or born again? Not very liberal in your tolerance standards are we?

The only way this is going to stick is if the authorities come down hard. I suggest in addition to the 1,000 baht fine, a second offense of 10,000 baht and for a third offense a 100,000 baht fine, plus confiscation of the taxi for 60 days.

If only the Thai govt. had any influence around the world he would have been extradited long ago, tried, convicted, and been in the slammer. That would quiet this buffoon down. But, Thailand continues to not be serious about justice.

Not a problem. Just like true refused to pay the fine when they failed to air the football recently, DTAC will do the same. The govt. is toothless. Nothing to fear from them, as far as Thai companies are concerned. Who is afraid of a child?

Beautiful. A wise decision. This bone headed policy was collapsing the rice industry with a Marxist policy. Finally sensibility and common sense is prevailing? How refreshing.

These are lost souls, with no lives. How you hold the US responsible for this ridiculous film, made by a hateful idiot, is beyond me. Nobody with any self esteem, sense of purpose in life, or one shred of real spirituality would join these freak show protests. Come on. How low can you stoop? Where do you get your inner guidance from? Or is there no voice inside, at all? Have any of these non-spiritual protesters ever spent even one hour of their lives in prayer, meditation, or contemplation? I seriously doubt it. This has absolutely nothing to do with Spirit. This is 100% ego driven drivel.

This will NEVER apply to samui. It is a law less land unto its own. There has never been any law enforcement on samui, by the local toy police. Recently the taxis blockaded the port, due to a minivan company offering a package deal including drop off at the hotel. The taxis would be prevented from charging their extortionate fees. What happened? The weak mayor intervened, and sided with the taxi insects. The govt. in Bkk refuses to enforce ANYTHING in Samui. It is shameful. A travesty. The taxi mafia in Samui is far more powerful than the mayor, the police, the governor, or the PM. Period. End of story. They all have meters. They laugh at you when you ask them to use them. And they know there are zero reasons why they have to behave. A pox on the face of the impotent authorities who care more for the mafia, than for the tourism industry.

We can only hope this governor is serious, and not just another opportunist goombah mouthing off. We would all love to see multiple shut downs. Nobody would miss any of these closures. It would simply amount to a group of insects being taught how to behave, and that there is actually a value to human lives. Imagine that?

How does this resolve anything? Of course the taxi insects agreed, when they are offered London taxi rates. Thailand is running the risk of simply pricing herself out of the market. There is a limit to how much tourists are willing to pay. There is a limit to how much of a premium tourists are willing to pay, over the rate for a local Thai. And there is a limit to how much abuse a tourist is willing to take, from the authorities who are completely devoid of wisdom, intelligence, vision, maturity, and compassion for foreigners. The time may come when Phuket is a ghost town of an island. And then the Thais can say "we sure did a great job of sabotaging a once great enterprise".

Very easy to order. Go to Balimojo.com - you can order online. About $127 for 40 doses, including shipping to Thailand. Have never had a problem with Thai customs for these orders. Really effective, powerful yet mild feel to it. Try it. Best I have found. Another product called mojorisin available in the US, but feels a bit harsher and I get headaches from it. Not with Bali. Also, ships locally, from Malaysia, I believe. Hope that helps.

Very true. Little in the way of a deterrent factor here. How about real justice? Felonious assault charges, 100,000 baht fine, and two years in prison. Think the word would get around that the toy police are getting serious about law enforcement? In a nanosecond!
