  1. you can hit my web www.cafecaliforniaphnompenh.com/motorcycle.htm for plenty of links and info regarding biking in cambodia. I have a khmer registered bike so I am not sure what you need to bring a thai bike out of thailand. Harry who post on gt-rider.com comes in frequently on a thai bike from korat. roads here are good enough now for street bikes.

    regards, Jim

Welcome to TV jim,we have met a few times when you were at the C2 and sharkys, you are quite correct the roads are good enough from poi pet and koh kong for some maybe, however i cross at ban laem/ban nam ron and its dirt all the way on the other side, suits me fine ,but a harley or a fireblade, no no no,. :o !,for me on my wr400 and harry aboard his trusty xr650 ,perfect ! :D ..
  2. After the Pattaya bike festival me and some other guys are gonna visit Cambodia on the motorbike. Has anybody done this before? Any do´s and dont´s? The plan is to visit shinoukville and then ankor wat and then back to Thailand. How will the road be? And what documents to bring for the motorbike?

    Thanks

    Potter :o

Road bike or dirt/trail bike ? it will matter as to what roads to use,.i have done it many times, always on a dirt bike, there are really only 2 roads that rideable on a road bike with ease,.
  3. An interesting thread and some over-dramatic posts.

There are countless people in Pattaya who have defaulted on credit carts, loans etc without re-paying even a penny or at least have settled at a much lower amount. It doesn't make it right, but it's not an isolated incident and is not half as serious as what it has been made out to be. Debt is not a crime, but FRAUD is another matter and is quite different. You should separate the two.

It's correct that Experian does not keep records over 6 years. I know because my ex-wife works for them.

Within this time period the credit rating is reduced and at worst CCJ's are given. Credit score can be built back up again over time however.

Had to laugh at the passport comment... class. :o

I agree, little knowledge is dangerous,.
  4. have you checked your passport expiry date? I am sure UK embassies will be updated about ppl on the run.... I assume you still need to travel (even not to tthe UK) and have a valid passport for many things.

You will not be on the run, you will have defaulted on repayments, you can to the UK without any problems, just dont tell your ex creditors where you will be staying, dont try and credit while in the UK, you can get a new passport no problem. All you have done is defaulted on repayments. It is not fraud.

Correct,.unless a fraud was commited at time of loan application there are no laws been broken,.but on a bright note the banks in the uk now are doing crazy deals for people in debt, you can offer 10p in the pound and the chances are they will take it to settle, just warn them you are considering bankrupcy, they will grab it and run !
  5. As you can see all the holier than thou are giving you stick,.im actually on my way back and didnt do a runner,( sometimes wish i had ) i know a few that did and they have had no problems, one character in particular had gbp 90000 plus thrown at him by lenders in the uk and did a bunk with it all, he was living in a bedsit, not on the voters list and self employed painter and decorator,.totally iresponsible lending, no wonder the banks/economy is in crisis, id say jump a sinking ship, there is no way uk debtors will chase you in thailand for a bad debt ( especially unsecured ) ,in fact declare bankrupcy, loads are and it only lasts 12 months if you want to go back,no problem,.let your conscience be your guide,

  6. I have recently discovered that my thai wife is in relationships with two other women. When I met her I was aware that she had a relationship with a woman, and after a jealous showdown when the other lady threatened us with a kitchen knife, I was told by my then girlfriend that it was all over.

There the matter stood until the last few months. My now wife was disappearing many afternoons, telling me she is seeing friends. Then in last few weeks she was going out late at night quite frequently and returning at dawn. She thought I was sleeping, and once or twice when she wasn't there in the morning she said she had gone to the market. Well I made certain checks such as recording kms on the bike and car. She was making up lies, such as going back to her village (50kms return) when only 20 kms recorded on the clock. The returned original lady works in massage and finishes work at 1am, that is when they have been meeting.

Last week I had it out with her in a quiet controlled way. After a lot of tears she admitted that she has been seeing another woman for months and sleeping with her. Within the last 2 months the original lover has come back to our city, after a long spell working in the south, and their affair has re-ignited. She says she still loves me and has been feeling very guilty about it all. She looks after me and her two kids well, and we have a good life together, and there nothing wrong with the sex side of our lives either.

I have told her that I am angry about the lying, but if that is what she wants and needs, then I can live with it. I've said I don't mind her going out one or two nights a week if that is what she wants, she is very happy with this. I suggested she bring the lady here and we make a three! She said she would like that but she thinks the other would be too shy; the prospect quite excites me!

My wife is in all other respects a good person, she is the least materialistic lady I've known, a hard worker and thought of as lovely by all who meet her. I do love her, and she says she does love me very much. Since we had it out, our relationship is better than it has ever been.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience as this, it would be good to share together.

If its possible, consider a move . Either move your family and wife away from this 3rd person, or separate from your wife.

This cheating and infidelity will most likely lead to problems of some form or another later down the track

in my experience this wont work, this will only get away from the person, not the tendancies/desire ,
  7. Hi Gobs,

Best you not only talk to the customs office, better contact a transport company which does the complete import, clearing and domestic transport for you. Sure it will not be cheap, but it would not cost more then trying to do it yourself.

For your old BMW R90/6, there are a few legally registered in Thailand, which means (for now) you not have to submit your motorcycle for an exhaust emission test as the model is already in the system.

They do tests on all the HDs coming in,25-30k. Why wouldn't they test a BMW?

im with you on this one, i think richard is talking either commercially or on new models,.as for changing a price on the paperwork this end when sent already that i would like to see,.
  8. We had an ex bar girl landlady, horrible, stole 28000 of our deposit for ficticous problems, amongst them air con unit servicing and paint touch up, i dont doubt its in ?"the small print "somewhere but i found it a con, funnily enough 3 months after we moved out the new tenant had a gas bottle explode doing 1 mill baht of damage, guess what, neither were insured and the new tenant tried to sue her for dodgy pipework, we were asked by the landlady to go to court to say we had no problems but took great delight in saying "get stuffed " !

  9. Now if you think that poor little Lek working in an office was sending home 20k a month then you should be locked up. You should not be let out for your own safety. People paying these amounts are just daft, plain and simple

Absolutely, but it's also very good business done by the girl.

ive said this before, these poor uneducated girls are fantastic at milking farang dry,..makes you wonder where the illiteracy lies, however in fairness, i know some pretty shrewd guys that have been absolutly raped and left penniless,.they were warned but obviuosly thought it wouldnt happen to them, :o
  10. Why Do U Guys Do It?, support her family that is.

Perhaps they know the consequences to themselves of not handing over the cash.

Any business will fall apart when the cash flow stops.

spot on,....in most cases the white knight in shining armour ( aka the farang ) will whisk the maiden from a fate worse than death ( a life on the game ) and pay the monthly installments, usually WAY over what said maiden was earning,. and those that dont see it as a "rent a wife " scheme are the ones wearing the horses blinkers,. :D

These guys speak from bitter experience chaps, take note of what they say and don't do it !!! :o

Forgive me Maigo I had no intention of hitting a nerve?

My 300,000 Baht a week plus christmas bonus ensures my relationship stays steady. :D

You can rent me for that !...... ill polish up well in a red frock and high heels ! lol :D

  12. All joking aside i think there is some good advice here,Especially keeping your cards close to your chest,.i know a very wealthy man back in the uk and whenever you ask him hows he doing he always replies the same " struggling ". he has no enemies as far as i know ,..but what you need more than anything in thailand is some "business sense ", you can give some people a million pounds and they will be skint in 12 months if they havent got "it",.good of you to share your experience though, good luck,.

  13. Customs Department seizes Bt4.5 million in smuggled items

The Customs Department today successfully apprehended smugglers transporting narcotics and other items in and out of the country, seizing up to 4.5 million baht in merchandise.

  14. 40 hp in a streetlegal 250 fourstroke single is science fiction.

Do you think it is possible to transplant say, a 450cc motor into one of these things.

Reckon 33 hp is possible with the 250 unit?

i had a d tracker in the uk that was a 285cc oversize, mikuni carb and freeflow filter, fmf muffler system was 37 bhp,i had also had the head ported and cleaned up,.never gave any mechanical problems,
  15. Hey buddy, was the pun intended ? :D I'd like to own a piece of land in my name and speculate, yet I'm fully aware that I can't, so I don't dwell on it.

    LOL,

Hi Mike still in Patters ?

The pun wasn't intentional actually, but well spotted.

are you sure ? :o .im coming and going, either that or i was about to buy a superman outfit or start shouting at imaginary people !.lol :D
