  1. We need an app developed for a Wordpress website (iOS and Android).

Have looked at the plugins but they are very basic so can anyone recommend a reliable app development company that doesn't charge the earth?

Would like to contact a few to get some quotes. Company doesnt have to be Thailand based.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the replies, the first one is confusing; the extension is exactly the thing I cant get as stated in the OP.

ubonjoe; ok that clarifies things, leaving the country is the only option. If I go to Savannakhet does the wife have to go with me? And what is the list of requirements?

Poorsucker; thanks for that - I have all in that list apart from 12. We got married 11 years ago so the MFA will not issue a freedom to marry paper if we're already married.

Local immigration are asking for things from the labour dept such as a Tor Tor 10 ... whatever that is.

  3. Have a bit of a visa quandry - have been on a work permit for the last 15 years or so, the company is not a Thai company but had permission to operate here.

It now no longer operates in Thailand so my work permit and visa here are about to expire and cannot be renewed.

I have also been married to a Thai national for 11 years so thought I could change visa status from non-b to non-o (marriage basis). Should be simple right?

Wrong - my local immigration office is playing hardball with this and want a raft of "additional paperwork" beyond the standard requirements for this visa extension which I already have. I also get different answers from different officers every time I call up and ask.

So my question is this: where is the easiest neighbouring country to get a visa based on marriage? (have all the papers + the 400k for three months)

I figure I'll have to let the current non-b visa and work permit expire, leave the country, and come in on a new non-o, suffering the leaving every 90 days again until I can get it extended without the hassle.

  4. Platform: Linux/cPanel

Support: should include anything server side in case of problems

Server: considering both options, need prices

Email: yes, a lot of it

Traffic: largest site uses about 40Gb bandwidth a month, small ones hardly anything

Load: light, no balancing or fancy stuff

    Backups: self managed

Budget: I'm hoping the smaller ones can pay for the whole box, they currently pay about $100 per year each

The key element is support, I need to know stuff is being fixed as soon as it goes wrong - not 6 hours later!

  5. Have been with the same company for nearly ten years now however support is becoming erratic as is uptime so I need an alternative to consider. We have 20-30 small client accounts and a couple of larger websites.

Much appreciated if anyone can recommend a reliable web hosting company that offers the following:

    1) Reseller account option.

    2) Can take payments from Thailand (or Paypal).

    3) 24/7 support (real support, not "we're asleep now, we'll turn your site back on when the US wakes up!).

    4) Servers based in the US or Oz (though company can be based in Thailand).

Have tried iPower and Godaddy already - support sucks. Servint are very good but very expensive.

    Thanks!

  6. I've been growing hot chili peppers for a while now with mixed success. Managed to control the aphids and whitefly but I'm losing a large portion of the crop to fruit flies which bore a tiny hole in the pod to lay eggs. The larvae then eat the chili from the inside.

I've tried setting traps with apple cider vingar but they catch more butterflies than fruit flies.

Anything available in Thailand that will prevent them or does anyone have any tips to stop fruit flies?

    Thanks.

  7. The CBR250R is a great bike but as anyone knows that has one it sounds like wet fart.

Can anyone direct me to a website or dealer that supplies reasonably priced after market exhausts and will ship out of Bangkok?

Have looked at the Remus and Yoshi silencers and they're all over $500 which is more than 20% of the cost of the bike!!!

Have tried Tyga perfomance but no pipes listed on their site.

    Thx.

  8. I'm getting more and more messages bouncing back due to blacklisted Thai IP addresses and SMTP servers. The latest two culprits are relay.cat.net.th and smtp.tttmaxnet.com

Is there any way to use your own domains SMTP server without a major hassle?

I've looked at what Google offer but would rather keep my mail on my own server and just find away to circumnavigate the block.

  9. Thanks for the detailed explanation, it seems that the signal and connection strength was causing my problems then. I'll test it nearer the tower to confirm.

Took a look at the Google Apps options but don't really want to 'move' the email from my servers or mess with domain MX records, just want to send without the SMTP headaches!

  10. Thanks for the replies - not sure whether it is gprs or edge or what the difference is really (or how to connect to one and not the other). I get a [E] and [G] symbol on the phone when its connected.

Someone else has told me the network signal strength is a big factor also, it wasn't very good where I was connected from which may have been causing the problems.

Thanks for the SMTP server, I'll try that since they are blocking my own ones. This was my main problem - sending email. The webmail (Horde) interface logs me out every few seconds so that was a no-go too!

Can you use Gmail to send/receive with your own domains?

  11. I have recently started using GPRS via my mobile (one2call), bluetooth to the laptop when I'm on the road. You can get a 24 hour package for 39 baht and AIS have some other packages too.

Now I knew it was going to be slow but I can live with that, there are however two other major problems:

    1) I use Thunderbird for my IMAP email accounts for a number of domains. I can't send though as AIS won't let me use my own SMTP server, do they have their own one for GPRS and has anyone used it?

    2) The connection constantly logs me out of everything so I can't use the webmail (Horde) interface to send email either. It also logs me out of forums and anything else so all I could use it for is reading pages.

Has anyone else experienced this and are there any solutions? Appreciate any advice!

  12. This is probably a long shot but can you buy underwater camera housings in Thailand?

I have a Sony DSC-W80 and a Nikon D70s that I'd love to take down there, seen the Sony housing (which is in my budget range!) on the Ikelite website but don't know if or where you can get them here.

  13. Since I don't live in Bangkok and do live in a tourist town where these things are considerably more expensive I've been looking into buying computer parts online (specifically the graphics card I started another thread on).

This site has pretty good prices IMO : thanni.com

Question is has anyone bought anything from them and are they reliable? I've never purchased anything online in Thailand before so am naturally a little cautious.

I've seen the list posted above and this site looks about the best to me (unless I've overlooked one).
