  1. There is a very good doctor in Sisaket . She have done both of my eyes , cataract. Her practice is opposite the carpark entrance from Suen Heng Department Store inside the soi. There is at left hand a newspaper shop and she is nextdoor. She made the surgery in Sisaket Hospital. The eye department from this hospital has a very good reputation and when I was there they got the patients from Surin , Buriram and Ubon transferred. A pity I forgot her name.

Singha seem to be confused, there’s no such thing as “Belgian Weissbier”, the Belgians make Witbier while the Germans make Weissbier both of which mean “white beer”. Weizen beer means “wheat beer”.

Just tried both Snowy Weizen & Tapper. I’ve always liked wheat beers but wasn’t prepared to pay for the expensive imports like Erdinger, so Snowy is good value & pretty tasty. I’m surprised that Singha are producing it as it’s unlikely to have mass market appeal, Thais have a sweet tooth & this will be too sour for most.

Tapper reminds me of Chang before they diluted it & it’s brewed by the same company so maybe it’s a similar recipe? When Chang was 6.4%(?) I used to get smashed on about 8 bottles & then a friend suggested adding ice which seemed like heresy but was surprisingly pleasant. I still drink Chang with ice today out of habit but you have to drink it quickly before the ice melts & I don’t get smashed which is probably for the best.

I would drink both of these again but I prefer the Snowy due to it’s difference from the standard lagers.

No surpries Tapper come from Comos Brewery, Ayutthaya same brewery make Federbraeu and belongs to Thaibev ( Chang,Archa )

It seems you visit the wrong places. I see beverage menus all the time.

Did you ask on a Buddhist holiday for whisky in a coffee cup and then asked for the price list? There might be a reason why the staff would tell you that is illegal.

Sorry I forgot to mention. It's not about non alcohol drinks, lists with beer and spirits are gone and they explained it is illegal to promote alcoholic drinks ( maybe they are right if you see flyers from Teco, BIG C, Makro  no more beer prices )

  5. Hi, I have a question / request. I have just been told that the Scandinavian (Daenen, Sweden and Norwegians) for a Lao visa on arrival, no fees have to pay more. I only knew it from Swiss for an ON-arrival visa (14 days). Does anyone have exact information and can confirm this or just a rumor again.

    Thank you

I don't understand having to travel over the border to get the 3mths visa stamp?. If you have a 12mths non- o visa and multiple entry visa already, don't you just have to go to immigration for a 90 day visit? Could you please let me know.

The Non - o - Multiple entry visa means , you have to cross a border every 3 month. The other, you mentioned, is a visa extension for 12 month, based on retirement or married to a Thai, Than you have to make your 90 day registration at your local immigration office.

  7. 2. Farming including looking after livestock, forestry and fisheries (exception: farm manager).

Please let me get this right: I'm married to a Thai. She owns 10 rai of land, She start a pig-farm and growing foreign vegetables. All for sale or own use including making Ham and Sausages. So I'm not allowed to help my wife, not even get paid ( working for free )  , feeding, harvesting and and and Right, or I break the law. BUT by the Thai Family Law a married couple has to help each other. How does it work.  How is it when I help my friend cutting his gras in his garden or help him out with my truck ( I'm driving ) when he moves to another location. I do it for free noy even charge for fuell ?

It is a 30 day visa exempt entry  unless you had a transit visa that allows a 30 entry or you  are from a country that only gets a 30 day entry from a tourist visa instead of 60 days.

Have you extended you 30 day visa exempt entry yet? You can get the extension unless you got your exempt entry from a bilateral agreement.

Thanks. Than I think you are right and may I get an extension first at the immigration. And than I hope they do change the visa in an Non B.

There is no 30 day tourist visa so I assume you have a 30 day visa exempt entry.

It is possible to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category  B ) at some immigration offices. You will need at least 15 days remaining on your entry or the 30 day extension of it.

Thanks ubonjoe, No I got my 30 Day stamp for Thailand when I came from Laos. So I thinks it's not a visa exempt. With this 15 days remaining I heard it to. The office will no be aible to get the paperwork done in this 15 days. That means I can maybe get a 30 day exempt and than change the visa at the immigration, right?

  10. I am sorry to bother you but I would like to know: I am here in Thailand already a long time but by some private circumstances I have only a 30 days on arrival visa. Now I started to work for a university. The problem is that the paperwork is not finished yet. My question is: Can any immigration office in Thailand change my 30 day visa into a Non Immigrant B visa? The office at the university says yes that it  is possible but I have from other people heard the visa can only be made by an embassy or consulat abroad. What is right?

    Thank you advance

I had cataract surgery done last August here. The don't do it with lasers. The dissolve the cataract using ultrasound and put in a lens. The procedure is mentioned here. http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/cataract-surgery.htm

It was done at the opthamologist's office. Cost for one eye was 24k baht.

I had the same surgery last year in Sisaket on both eyes. A little bit more expensive because I got special lenses and been in the hospital each eye for 2 nights. It's been done in Sisaket Goverment Hospital. No need for a privat room.Had aircon and all rooms are with2 beds only. Sisaket Hospital is doing laser treatments too but not sure for cartaract
