  1. Just backing up the currency intervention with some verbal reenforcement I think. Difficult to see the BOT having the guts to raise interest rates now, even if they should. Would be like throwing oil on this political fire everybody seems worked up about.

BTDT: The mistake made in America was believing in recession-free capitalism. With the benefit of hindsight it looks like they should have taken the pain back in 2001. What Benanke could do now is announce that he intends to raise rates 25 points per month for the next 9-12 months. Reign the oil bubble in, give banks a sense of urgency with regards to righting their balance sheets. Forget avoiding recession, concentrate on avoiding long-term damage like that which has crippled Japan.

Wrong. The mistake America has made is thinking that socialism and prosperity can walk hand in hand.

It doesn't, not for the masses anyway. Never did, never will. They are diametrically opposed. Perhaps the greatest tragedy is that most of these nitwits can't even define it .

Uh, before you begin talking about other nitwits, perhaps you can elaborate upon where you see socialism permeating American economic policy because, frankly, I just don't see it myself. Perhaps you can also elaborate on how you perceive 'prosperity'. Are you suggesting that a socialist country like Norway has not seen any increase in prosperity over the past 50 years? Is there an underground of square heads seeking to emigrate and flee economic oppression? And then perhaps you could be a wee bit more definitive and explain what it is exactly that your imagined nitwit can't define.

    Obviously..........

And if in fact you live here,. you are exactly what I'm referring to. That's the type of ignorance that's resulted in the empire building all the way thru the lowest equity since 1945.

Well, duh, what's equity you might ask.

Look it up in a dictionary.

  3. Boy the USA is taking it up the behind right now .

The only ones who would disagree with you are upper level places in NYC ( they are next ) and Lawrence Yun ( Chief "economist" of National Association of Realtors ). Let's see how he's done so far with his propaganda, er, market updates shall we?

    NAR

They are building 3,000 sq ft houses near here on the west coast of Florida for $70/sq ft INCLUDING a quarter acre of land. Sales are slooooooooooow even at that price. It's a meltdown. We've been looking to buy a larger home as well as do a little traveling but our business runs counter to the dollar for the most part.

This is a global problem. If one starts factoring in a 9 Trillion dollar debt in the US, along with 40-60 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities in the US alone with the first of 70 million baby boomers in the US starting to collect socialist security and medicare backed by a printing press , the immediate future doesn't look good for positive cash flow at all. This is starting to add to the worlds real estate bubble phenomenon.

Has the market ever come back in Japan?

  4. Well this is an interesting subject. After 5 years my Wife has finally been naturalized an American citizen ( last week ). Next step is to get her an American passport.

The interesting part is going to be these exemptions. For the both of us! Stay tuned :o

  5. If it were the US, and company documents were proven to be forgeries, the company would face dissolution, the owners would face criminal charges .

But it ain't the US so what happens in LOS?

John, thank you for the advice. I would not even attempt "buying" anything in Asia .

It's almost like a bad itch that won't go away when I think about it.

    But I'm curious as heck.

  6. I couln't find it on their website either. Gonna be THREE Tesco's now? Wow, wasn't any such thing when we were there although the construction of the first one started just as we left. The island looks a lot more crowded now. There's a beach there, my Wife and I would occassionally drove to . There was nobody there. Drive thru some coconut palms then suddenly on a beach. Absolutely nobody, nobody there.

What an incredible place to relax and meditate, read, whatever. Gazing out.......geeesh I'm drifting away here.

Santi Thani was an interesting place to live for a while. When you make the first right going up the hill, there were I think 3 houses and then the one we rented. Behind the house or in between the house and the road was a long stretch of coconut palm tree forest. Ours was a smaller house with a red balcony on the 2nd floor or the floor that's level with the road going up right outside with a driveway and steel gates. The house had very strange caretakers for someone from Germany who owned the place then, and we've wondered about the house and area in general. I've wondered if that land between the road and the house has been developed. What prices are like now ( example, the house we lived in could have been purchased from the owner in 2002/3 for 125K USD. We offered 100K at that time and it was rejected, then countered with the 125K amount which we passed on ) Other questions about the realities about the place ( Santi Thani, Koh Samui in general ) etc.

Before focusing any more time or notions about the place, you could say I'm doing a bit of inquiry and thank you for any information you all can give.

  7. And with all this gossiping, no one has seen the legal notice, concerning Norbert and Santi Thani, in the latest issue of Samui Express ? Page 19 FYI. It might explain a few things, if you're interested in facts.

We're in Florida, would you please illuminate what the article says?

  8. Maybe Norbert's done a runner again.

maybe the bill didnt get paid..

maybe someone shot the computer by mistake

Anyone noticed we just passed the 2nd anniversary of Gary's shooting last week.?

Gary? The British fellow who was there in 2001? He was shot? Was he killed? Didn't he have a broken arm in 2002?

Why would you say "maybe the bill didn't get paid"?
