I want to get a visa through the small company that I own (I've owned it for about 8 years, but have had a visa and work permit through another company until now). First, can anyone tell me what requirements both monetary and otherwise that I must fulfill before applying, second, what paperwork is necessary, third, do I have to leave the country to get the visa (I am currently here on a tourist visa) and forth, how long does it usually take once all the requirements are met before the visa is issued?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

My elderly mother (83 years-old) has joined me in Thailand as I am the only one of my family who is able to care for her. I have a non-immigrant B visa (on a one-year-extension). I would like to apply for a dependent visa for her rather than a retirement visa if possible. I have been told in the past that it is possible, that there are even people who have done so, but have just been told by the immigration office in Kanchanaburi that it isn't possible. Can anyone who has had experience in this area please let me know what I need to do.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I hold a non-immigrant B visa. My elderly mother (83 years old) is moving to Thailand to live with me. Can you please suggest what is the best type of visa for her - a dependent non-immigrant O or a retirement visa.
If it is a non-immigrant O for dependent status, what does she need in the way of paperwork in order to apply? If it's a retirement visa, what does she need to apply? I do understand the income requirements for a retirement visa - does she need this documentation when she goes to apply or when she extends once she gets to Thailand?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Just recently, the diet pill ephedrasin was legalized in the US. I've done tons of research on it and from what I've read it is all natural. Does anyone know if it is legal in Thailand?

I am an American who has been living here for 16 years. I don't have any idea how to fix the political problems Thailand is facing, but sitting back and letting innocent people die and allowing whole country languish indefinitely was not the answer. Before ANY country or entity criticizes the action that has been taken to free Thailand from the grips of this stagnant situation, they should take a look at the big picture. While I have no idea what is going to happen, I do know someone has been brave enough to step up to the plate and light a fire for change. Rather than criticising, it would be great to see others offer understanding and support, something the people of this country need badly. It's going to be tough times for a while, but as rhe saying goes "It's always darkest before the light."
