  2. How can I teach my wife to budget her money, If I give my wife 7000 baht on a friday to buy food for the next week, by tuesday she will be telling she spend it and can I lend her some money to buy something she needs to get. I need to know how much money I am going to spend each month so as I know how long I can stay in thailand before I need to go back to work.

  3. I am married to a thai lady, my brother came to thailand two years ago with my wife and me to visit her family. Whilest here he meet a girl working the bars, he as been back to see her many times. Now he tells me that he is going to marry her and bring her back to england. I want him to be happy but have heard many bad storys about these ladys. My wife thinks we should just be happy for them and that what happens will happen. I would like your veiws

  4. What is the age limit now? and when are they talking about the new one coming into force.

My son as just turned 18 and is coming to thailand for the thai new year, I hoped he could take his dad out for a beer or two.

  5. Hi Terry just a quick question, hope you dont mind. I was wondering if you knew of any company's who are recruiting electricians for overseas work as i have looked evrywhere but cant find any. I was working out in south korea last year and have been offered work in norway this year but not a very good offer as the norweigan government take 40% tax off you :o .

I am fully qualified, time served, JIB spark with 20 years experience. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers John........

Hi John just found your letter. The company I work for may be looking it all depends on the british goverment as most of our work is for them what sort of money are you looking for?

If the contract is for 1 year or more we can get paid tax free.

    Terry

  6. Been married for 5 wonderful years and now have a son aged 1, most thai familys have more girls than boys. Maybe thats why some thai men think they do not have to take of their wifes, if the wife does not like it she can <deleted>> off and they will just get a new one. Also maybe thats why many thai women are marring flang because they get a better life for them and their family.

  7. I have been married to my thai wife for 5 years, we have a home in the uk. some people have been very nasty to her, but on the whole people are find. My work means that we work overseas a lot and we have found that europeans are the ones who look down on thai women the most. In belgrade one man actually try to buy my wife from me. which I got more angry about than she did, she just laught at him and told he did not have anouth money to buy her. :o

    Are you Brit?

Yes I am British spelling and grammer are not my strong points. Having a good heart and being a good person are

  8. Hi I am an electrician too and had no problem getting my wifes visa. So long as you can show you can surport her and you have somewhere to live there should not be a problem. I travel overseas alot with my work and so far getting visas to any country has not been too hard. Good luck hope everything goes ok

  9. When I married my thai wife I paid 100,000 baht (1500 pounds at the time)to her family. we also put 350,000 baht on show at the wedding this was returned to me after the wedding. Her family have used the money to make life better for them. New roof on house etc. My wife used to send money home to her parents every month when she worked, now we have a son and she no longer works I send them 4000 baht every month. To me this is not wrong her parents are both over 70 and her farther is in a wheelchair they have no other income so how are they suppost to live?

Rinrada seems very anti thai as he had bad times with them or what. If he dislikes the thai way of life that much then like he said walk away from it. The money I send is only like going out for a meal and a beer once a month, instead I have dinner at home waited on hand and foot by the most lovely sexy woman I could hope to love me.

What is this small amount of money compared to being happy.

  10. tooth = fun

    BF/GF = fan

    right?

    Explorer :o

I like having a english word that sounds like the thai word it helps me remember it and know how it should sound

Maybe the answer is for the POSTER of words is to include a English word or saying and UNDERLINE the section to indicate the pronounced word they have given.

    Ie

    fun = teeth or tooth

(I had FUN at the fair today)

    Khaw-Thort = sorry / excuse me

(The rook makes a CAW sound, this is what I was TAUGHT at school)Pronounce as one word

    Chock-Dee = good luck

(The last CHOCK was taken away by CynDEE so the vehicle could move)

    See-Far = the color blue

(I can't SEE to FAR in the mist of the night)

    Ling - monkey (generic name)

(Today on a fishing trip I caught a LING fish)

    Gin-Jock = geko

(I drink GIN and tonic, but my scottish friend JOCK drinks beer)Pronounce as one word

    tor-a-sap = telephone

(i TORE some bark from A tree and I could see the SAP dripping down) Pronounce as one word

Any one any thoughts on this idea, but for sure WE do need to use one format here, the problem is many Thai words have no English equivalent, but we should be able to get many many basic words on this thread.

    Cheers

    CF

Jesus, did you smack him in the head? :D

I wanted too but my wife got more angry with me than with him, she said I should feel pleased that he thought her that sexy that he wanted to buy her. I find the way thai women think very strange sometimes.

  13. Need more info than you have given as it depends on style and materials, but a ballpark figure would be from 400,000 basic to, well depends on your needs really, you could spend 1-2 million.

A good friend has just brough a place there, house + land, 3 bed, 2 bathrooms, western style kitchen decked out with modern white goods, double drive, seperate building with bathroom for his gym (could be used as guest suite) sitting on .5 of a rai for 1.5 (aircon in every room inc.), oh forgot to mention its brand new.
