In the past I was never asked.  This year and last year two separate airlines insisted I had an onward flight.  Go onto Airasia and book a ticket to KL.  Even if you dont use it, if you book in advance you should only be looking at $50.  Consider it part of your plane ticket here.

Flights to Yangon on AA, NOK or Lion are usually little more than half of what KL flights cost - cheaper option for a throw-away ticket

  2. in my home country, my family used to buy huge baskets of apples directly from (trusted) farmers, we kept them at a cool place in our cellar and they still looked and tasted great after several months. Nothing suspicious with that. Having said that, there is no doubt that many fruits sold in supermarkets in Asia get its fair share of "anti-aging-treatment"

Can you suggest where to get one. I have not seen any reports of anybody getting one as director for several years. It has gotten very hard to get a single entry non-b visa for business purposes in recent years much less a multiple entry visa.

I can 100% confirm that, particularly since the consulates are not allowed to issue multiple entry Visas any longer.

Luckily I have now reached the "magic age" to apply for the retirement-extension, if I still would be 38 as I was when getting my first non-B multiple back then I would have definitely run out of options

Yes, Emirates had the same restriction on hold-baggage for their super-cheap fares last January, when I was trying to help two friends arrange a summer-trip back to Europe.

But a good fare is always welcome !

Then fly OMAN AIR, their return fares to Europe are sometimes 17K (and that is not even a promotion then) and they offer 30KG of luggage even when paying that little

If you are on a long term extension of stay they probably will not expect you to do a new TM30 report. There have been mixed reports on when they want one.

I am on long term extension, but they definitely do want such report. At least it was like that in 2017. I saw a Filipino family being fined big bucks when I did my last report of returning to the old address after leaving the kingdom in April 2017. They have a special counter for that. Not sure if that has changed since then. It is maybe not a full TM30, but reporting the return to the old address for sure. They use the old registration form with the barcode on it to update their data on the computer.

Whether you need do another TM30 form or not depends upon the immigration office you have to go to.

You certainly would not need boarding passes when you go to immigration. Then will know when you left and returned by looking at the stamps in your passport.

I don't think they put a bar code on a TM30 form. I think you are referring to a 90 day report receipt that has one. You will not need to do a 90 day report until 90 days from the date you entered the country including that day in the count.

    It is Jomtien  (*blush*)   -_-

I agree with you. Once I was stupid enough to try to check in at Malaysian Airlines BKK to KL without a Malaysian  exit ticket, and had to go outside, book a 15-20 dollar Penang to Medan ticket on the phone (cheapest Air Asia exit ticket), came back to the counter, and indeed the girl did check it, but that was only because she saw me 20 minutes before without one.

Other than that, Europe to BKK, HK to BKK etc, nobody bothered to check.

As long as the flight numbers do exist. They do input that into their system. Obviously, being real flights, the flight time is as on the website.

You see, I don't like wasting money.

    But that's just me :)

The 10 dollar option works as well for whoever is not bothered to do what I do.

I did fly to Malaysia more than 50 times, mostly from Thailand. In 90% I did not have an onward or return ticket. never ever has a Malaysian airline (MAS, AirAsia, Malindo) asked me for an onward ticket. The only case was when I did fly Royal Jordanian, but when I showed them my MAS ENRICH GOLD card, they accepted to let me board without one. I don't think the Malaysian government applies a "need for return-ticket" policy, at least not for citizens of EU countries. In many cases, the airlines create their own rules.

    i was on a metv start january 16, today 2nd border run and 1extension. i will do the 2extension 24 dicember 17.

so for avoid problem and fine, i can just go at immigration next monday and make a new tm30? or i can wait for the extension?

what document do i need for this tm30?

TM30 is not the proper form as this is for returning to the old place of residence after leaving the country, but Ubonjoe for sure will soon post the number of the correct form here.

If reporting a new address, you have to make sure that you enter the correct date when you moved, which would have to be just one day before you go to immi, otherwise you will pay a hefty fine.

So, if you go to immi on Tuesday, 28 Nov, you need to fill in 27 Nov as the day when you have moved to the new place.

  9. 16 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Jomtien immigration will only want a new TM30 form submitted.

As he moved to a new place, he should have reported his new address within 24 hours which he didn't (which of course has nothing to do with his trip to Cambo). To write the new address on the TM6 is not enough.

But if the OP is here on a TV or METV only, that should not cause problems as there is little chance it will be checked or detected, unlike when you are here on a 1-year-extension. Or did I miss something?

According to this thread, from a couple of years ago, it is possible: https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/829744-can-i-get-a-re-entry-permit-at-phuket-airport/

I suspect you just use the same office that handles overstays (same as in Don Muang). If so, it is certainly a 24-hour service.

Thanks for that, I already found a very recent topic regarding HKT re-entry and have asked there

  11. 31 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

If you are on an extension of stay you have to apply for the re-entry permit at the office where you applied for it.

If you were flying form either airport in Bangkok you could get the re-entry permit 24 hours a day.

Thanks for the clarification and yes, I am on the 1-year-extension of stay.

So not even the immi HQ at Chaeng Wattana can do that, right?

This means a journey back to the immi office of my province, or take the risk in Phuket.

Maybe have to ask about recent HKT re-entry experiences in a new topic

  12. Hi all,

I will be flying out of Phuket for my annual trip to my home country this year as I got an unbelievable fare, but I want to avoid to apply for the re-entry permit there, as I have no experience with the Phuket officers, I heard they are sometimes difficult and unpleasant to deal with, plus my my flight leaves in the wee hours so the desk/office that issues a re-entry may not even be open.

As I am not at the province I am registered at the moment, I would like to ask if one can get such re-entry permit (single) at any immi office in the country (BKK for example), or will you have to go to the office that is responsible for you.

    Thanks

In the situation you cite, your main problem may be your return to Thailand. Let's say you return on November 25, and that is the day your extension (and related re-entry permit) expire. I think you will have a tough job getting the immigration official at the airport to admit you on the day your permission to stay expires. I think it quite likely, the IO will insist on giving you 30 days visa exempt. I am 99.999% certain that would be the case if returning November 26, after the re-entry permit expires.

    Thanks for the input, BritTim,

I definitely would make sure NOT to return to the kingdom AFTER the extension has already expired

  14. Due to some unexpected event, I have to leave the country for a week or so. The extension of my 1-year-permission to stay based on retirement is expiring. What would - in theory - be the last day to apply for renewal of the extension, without occurring any legal problems? I am aware that it is not recommended to wait until the very last day possible, so there is no need to mention this, but in my case the timing just got critical.

What if my extension ends on a weekend day, in 2017 this could be, for example, 25th or 26th of Nov which are Saturday/Sunday? Would the application have to be submitted the Friday before or Monday after is still accepted?

    Thank you very much

Where there is more than one office in a province that the offices are designated by districts within the province.

There is no office in Chonburi city. Sri Racha serves that part of the province.

Ah, I did not know that Chonburi as the provincial capital does not have an office. Surprising....

So in this case, this means as a foreign resident of Chonburi City, you cannot use the Jomtien office, and as a resident of Pattaya, you can not use Sri Racha for any Visa-related transactions, such as renew extension, do 90 day reports, TM 30 after re-entering the country a.s.o. ?

Sounds like someone was upset that an agent handling Bangkok residents was sending brown-envelopes to another office.

In that case, I rather believe that it was cheaper for the agent to use that immi officer from the "Chonabot", as that older chap that I know has a hard time to make ends meet and his agent knows that since many years and charges him much lower than usual fees. That is just my guess, though

And I think 'here endeth the lesson'

    ??

nope. He ran away, alerted his agent who charged him another 150 Baht and did the extension for him.

Since then, he was able to do the 90 day reports (he never travels out of the country anyway) online himself.

I have zero reason not to believe what he told me.

Though the online reporting system seems to only work for BKK again at the moment, as far as I know.

In Pattaya depending on when you see the agent, it may take up to 4 weeks.  Because many agents take them to Bangkok in bundles for processing.  1,000's every month.

I know people who live in Pattaya and do it that way. We discussed Visa topics a few months back and they told me they (still as recent as 2017) get their passport back the next day, so most likely it doesn't even leave the Jomtien immi office building

You are not reading it correctly.

They live in one area and the agent did the initial work in another one. When they tried to do the first 90 day locally they were told they had to report where 'they/agent' had obtained the extension.

Just think about giving your passport to an agent in BKK, going to Imm' in BKK to do your 90 day report and being told you have to report where you got the extension in Phuket. Extreme I know but that's the kind of thing that can happen when you can't/don't follow the system.

Well that is what happened to an older chap that I know who is short of cash. He used an agent, and when he went to do his first 90 day report at Chaengwattana (he lives in BKK), the Immi officer told him that now he needs a good lawyer, as his extension of stay was granted at a nearby province, but not where he actually lives.....  LOL

I hope everyone realizes how wide spread this practice is.  100's of agents and 10's of thousands of Visas obtained this way.

I am not saying to do this but the chances of a "crack down" will be very very slim.  There is too much money being distributed albeit all the way to the top.

I know of crackdowns in Khonkaen, where a retiring immi-officer acted as a whistle-blower and as well in Jomtien of Chonburi province, where a new immi Boss arrived. That was in 2016 both. Not sure about the current status

What is the basis of the extension of stay you received last year?

In theory, any Non-Imm visa-entry can form the basis of any non-imm extension of stay - but you are correct that some offices will not always do this.

Which office will be processing your next extension?

I still used those non-B multiple as those were a lot more convenient (I am traveling in and out of the country frequently), despite the fact I had already reached the required age to get an extension based on retirement.

I decided to change my status last year, and got a 1-year-retirement-extension, based on the at that time still valid non-B-multiple

new province could be Bangkok, Chonburi, or even Chachoengsao or Samutprakan. I will only know by end of next week

Two guys I know used such a service and when they turned up at the local office for the first 90 day report were informed they had to report to the area it was issued over 200 kilometres away.

As I believe you have to get your extension and then report at the province of your residence anyway, I wonder which province has immi offices located 200 km away from each other

  23. Hi all,

Does somebody know if extensions of stay are still issued based on an old existing non-B? I heard some had to change that (how?) to a non-O first. I got my first extension of stay last year, based on a non-B, and the non-B still exists, has not been voided or changed to non-O.

Will I have problems to get another extension or is it that after you were granted a first one-year extension of stay, the old non-immigrant Visa is not considered important any longer? The thing is that I will most likely have to apply for my new extension, due in a few weeks, at a new province, due to change of address. I heard some provinces (and even different immi-offices in the same province seem to apply different rules)  did not accept to issue an extension of stay based on non-B? But what if the extension already exists and only needs to be extended for another year?

    Thanks for any input
