Can anybody tell me where I can find a good bakery supply store in Bangkok? my wife is wanting to do some baking and we're having a hard time finding some supplies. She needs the following....Light corn syrup, cinnamon extract and various other items, any info would be appreciated!

Just curious how many farangs you've saved? how many listened to your rantings, went straight back to their hotel and spent the rest of their holiday in prayer? How many Thai's have you "saved"?

You're dealing with a Thai woman......I know everybody says that women are the same the world over and that me be true to an extent, Thai's beleive no matter what you tell them that you are rich, how else could you afford the lifestyle you do. My Thai wife was the same way, she's gotten a lot better since living in the States but she still has a bit of a problem...when I give her $100.00 to spend on herself $90.00 of it will go home to the family and then she bitches because she's broke......I can't let her handle the money because if I do we'll starve! so what I do is, when she's out of money...she's out of money! when we have extra....she gets a refill!

Not about being child like.....about making sure her mom and pop don't live better than me!

I worked as a closer (Over 12yrs)and have trained lots,Most if not all salespeople are full of self belief.Anyhow nice pitch where do i sign up for one of your courses......

There is an art to selling and some have natural talent,but come on any one with the desire to put up with ongoing rejection can learn with product knowledge etc how to hit the right buttons and then apply some sales closing skills,depends how hungry you are.

To answear the OP, If you like to meet people (have reasonable people skills) then go for it,Sales companys are often keen to take on fresh (enthusiastic bods).Watch the others and learn.

Dont be put off by peoples reactions to you telling them you want to work in sales or improve sales skills.

Now go close deal and ring that bell you have just won a holiday break on canvey island. woooooohooo.

Most top producers can over come objections and therefore the risk of being rejected is very low, that's what makes you a strong closer! if I had to do 100 sales for one close, I better be making a very healthy commission on each sale. I never said you couldn't teach a person how to sell...I said that they have to have the talent first....the ones who have the talent will be taught, the others go back to a 9 - 5 salary.

I would think the first step is asking how much you plan to ship? a box or a container? also what type of material is your item made of?

Can anybody point me in the right direction to where I might find a company that manufactures sarongs? my Thai wife wants to try her hand at importing a small amount for resale in the States. We live in a beach community and she thinks there may be a good market for these items.

I've been a sales trainer for a large company and I can tell you that the above suggestions are not even close to being fact, selling is an art and takes time to master. in 20 years of selling I have never told a buyer what commission I'm making on a deal....It's none of their business......how much money do you make? honesty in theory looks like a good option however honesty doesn't pay the electric bill. 95% of consumers buy on emotion....it's your job to paint that customer a mental picture and show them the beinifit...Benifit.....Benifit!..Selling is not something you can learn on a forum or for that matter even a book! A true salesman is born with the talent, they just have to perfect the skill. If you really want to be a strong closer I suggest you take a sales job and ask a lot of questions and listen to the people who have mastered the art. I can go on here for days but bottom line is many people try their hand at sales and many people can't sell their way out of a paper bag....Other's can sell religion to Jesus!

I think this a very valid post and I for one find it very interesting. I think that in order to grow and gain knowledge on a subject, is to ask questions....Amazing concept! Sunbelt always seems to come forward with some very good advice and I for one really do appreciate it.

I'm married to a Thai lady and we have one biological daughter between us, we currently live in the States but will be moving very soon to Thailand. I don't forsee this happening but if for some reason my wife and I were not staying together anymore, what would my rights be to my daughter? she has American citizenship but born in Thailand. I know it may sound stupid but I like to look at every situation before it could happen. I do know that without my daughter my life would be over...she is my life.

I've actually done this twice before with my now Thai wife, I hired a mini van with a driver that came from my wifes home town, he drove from Korat and picked us up in Bangkok. I hired him for four days at 1,300 baht per day plus fuel, i also paid for his hotel room as well but it was very cheap. All we did was drive around Issan and we saw something that looked cool we'd stop. It was a blast...driving around and taking in all the sites and culture was so cool. Brought along a disposable ice chest full of beer chang and water, me terak brought the snacks and it was great! by the time our trip was over we had made some very good friends and saw some amazing sites!

If you do try this just make sure you start looking for a hotel room by about 4pm or might get stuck in a dump.

And you thought you had problems? my wife is Thai, we have two daughters one four (step) and one two, four year old speaks no Englsh....My two year old speaks no Thai! four year old just started school in Thailand and were about ready to move back there with the two year old, what am I gonna do?

I as well am in the process of relocating to Thailand from the States, I'm married to a Thai and we have two small daughters. I've been to Thailand many, many times as well as Pattaya, I do enjoy myself there but after about a week I start getting pretty bored. Like some of the other posters have said IMHO Pattaya is a pretty dirty town with many undesirable residents and tourists. I agree that living there and vacationing are two different worlds, however for the price of housing, cost of living and the fact that you're always looked at like an ATM machine I've decided to make my move to Korat, also bored after a week, but I dare think what 50k baht per month would rent. Just seems like a better option for my family. I'm not on a cush expart package, rather self employed. We currently live in Southern California, rent is $4,500.00 per month...All my work is done over the phone and computer so the move makes a lot of sense for us. I can work half the hours and live twice the amount better!

Hello members, long time reader first time poster. Can any board members who stay in Korat suggest an agency or personal contact that might have some tips on locating a long term house rental? My family and I are getting ready to return to the area and need a two or three bdrm house in a good area with western standards, any help would be greatly appreciated.
