  1. Recently on my last visit I was able to purchase Reductil in Pattaya.

I asked for something for weight loss and was immediately offered this.

I was actually after Duromine but this was not an option. I was then shown Xenical.

Anyway, I am aware of Reductil (and Duromine/Xenical) and its implications.

My question is; it seems this is banned just about everywhere, including Thailand (EU, Australia, North America), so why was I able to purchase it?

    Is it fake?

FYI, it was B1500 for 100 tablets.

I'm a little reluctant to take it given its reputation (its banned for a reason after all). Has anyone had recent experience?

    Cheers.

  2. I'm looking for a cheap hotel on Suk or down one of its Soi's that is under 800 baht and meets the following requirements. I know there are heaps of them, but I need names and locations from people who have stayed there or atleast seen them. Oh, and I'm aware of Suk 11 and The Atlanta.

    * A room that is bigger than a cupboard.

    * Private bathroom, with occassional hot water.

    * A low cockroach count.

    * Has a tv that picks up more than 3 perfectly tuned channels that show Thai soaps and gameshows....even though the channels may be blurry.

    * Provides towells that you can't see through and are bigger than hand/face cloths.

    * Provides soap that is bigger than a box of matches and that don't disintegrate instantly with water or soap that actually creates a lather.

    * Air con that is quieter than a freight train and blows cool air.

    * Has a window, even though it may look out into an alleyway or airshaft.

    * Isn't located above a bar, or requires you to walk through a bar to access the rooms.

    * Doesn't have a lobby full of bar girls lurking about.

    * Has walls that go all the way to the roof, don't wobble when you close the door, and is soundproof from the room three doors down the hall.

    Am I asking too much?

    Cheers.

  3. Hi guys,

I've been searching for apartments and had little luck thus far. I'm looking for something in the 10000 - 13000 baht range, near the bts or metro, preferably on or near Suk, and preferably a pool. I know I'm asking alot for that price, but I'm not looking for a palace, just a place thats half decent (low cockcroach count) that I can crash at night, and occasionally take some company back.

I've found and tentatively booked Rajah Mansion (not Hotel) and was hoping for some feedback, good or bad, or perhaps a suggestion that fits my criteria.....remebering that I'm not looking for a palace.

    Thanks heaps.

  4. Hi all,

I will be staying in Bkk for a month, and after many, many searches I've found the following places and was hoping for some feedback/advice. My criteria was for an apartment, close to the BTS, preferably on or near Suk, with a pool (a gym would be a bonus) for under 12000 baht.

    Rajah Mansion.

    Greenery House.

    Sathorn Saint View.

    Rompo Mansion.

Greenery looks to be the best, but seems a little out of the way, so I'm leaning towards Rajah Mansion.

Any thoughts or additional info or advice?

I also thought of a hotel room for a month, but it seems I'll struggle to find a place that is (half) decent for under B12000. Suggestions?

Finally, I arrive very early, so an option is to book a hotel for the first night and spend the day looking around. But where to look? Are there signs posted outside apartments?

    Thanks heaps everyone. Cheers.
