  1. Howdy Folks..

Thought would post in a quick update.. http;//www.mail2sms.tk offers free texting to over 500 global operators. Also offers new Email alerts to be delivered by text to your mobile as soon as you get them, supports Gmail and other POP and IMAP based mailboxes over ssl security. Ideal for travelers and people on the go. No fancy handsets such as Blackberrys or Symbian phones required. No more data-calls or GPRS. Plain old text does it all :)

Hopes its handy. Besides, since its a free service.. pls do not abuse the system!

    Cheers,

    Texto

  2. Good luck ordaining.

Here are 2 websites for you. You should do a google search for others. I added Pah Nanachat because I have been there and I know they help with visas for farangs for Khao Phansa (fact. about a year ago). :o TIT...maybe no more?! They might help for longer stays at different times of year. I would assume the rules for visas are the same for each temple that accepts farang monks. :D TIT...maybe not!

Thanx for the info, would get in touch with them right away and update if there is anything new.

  3. Nice find!!

That should be a huge help.

I'm sure they'll notice a spike in call volume after posting here!!

Quite true, coz I hadnt mentioned in the earlier post that it's toll free as well!

Thanks for pointing that out, guess I must have been confused as I had seen the posters all over the immigration office and also with the number constantly being flahed on the electronic infotmation board.

  4. Hi All,

Had been to the Immigration office a few days back and had seen them flash a helpline number 1111 which is available 24/7 both in English and Thai. Had just called in a few mins back to enquire on somethings, and must say I was seriously impressed with the service on the IVR, was connected instantly to a Englsih speaking lady right within a few seconds of having chosen my language of choice.

She spoke "decent english and not thai englsih" and was quite comprehensible too. Though was placed on hold for a couple of times but then not for long. Pls make sure that you do mention your nationality very clearly as the rules drastically differ to between nationals of various countries?

    Anybody else also called in?

  6. @ BR

As an Indian a no Visa Entry stamp isnt applicable, instead it requires to have a valid visa either before you arrive or get a 15 day Visa on Arrival. Mine is a 2 month Tourist Visa with 30 day stay permit and as mentioned got only extended by a week.

So, beleive its to do with your nationality as well, as I had last been in Thailand sometime last year in Aug for a about a month and had left mid Sept, and thats before 1st Oct '06.

  7. Hi everybody,

Been a while since I'd been searching for an appropriate thread answering my query above, but to no avail. Needed to know if the new Visa rules of 90 within 180 days are also applicable for nationals that require a visa to enter the kingdom or only to those who do not require a Visa and get a 30 day stay permit.

I had a Tourist visa issued at a Thai Embassy in India prior to arriving here, which permitted me to a 30 day stay permit, I got that extended by a week at the Immigration Office a couple of days back for a fee of 1900 THB. Now since I plan to stay for longer.. needed to know if I could go to one of the neighbouring countries to get a fresh visa for another 30 days or on re-entering get another 15 days visa on arrival, which is available to Indians. What are my options.. Besides had also spoken to a couple of the Visa Run agencies and none of them are sure asto what applies for Indian passport holders and didnt get much of a lead there.

Would appreciate any guidance on the same.
