  1. Holiday Rental

When booking a holiday rental be careful as you might end up losing your money. Through

Thaivisa I met a guy who owns a rental company in Jomtien. After choosing my villa I paid a

£688 deposit in two instalments and £40 in bank fees.

Seven months later when we arrived at our departure airport our flights were cancelled due to

the PAD Demonstrations in Bangkok. When I contacted the company, Mr Watson the owner

ignored my emails at first but he was then forced to speak to me via PM on Thai visa.

Nothing was resolved and no refund or compensation was offered. I was accused of trying to

    blacken his name.

Two months later and still I have never received a penny or an apology: be careful and read

your contract. My contract never said anything about demonstrations but I still lost out. :o

  2. Hi everyone.....need some advice?

In April 2008 I was contacted by Robert Watson from www.Fivestarvillasandcondos.com in Jomtien, Pattaya through Thaivisa. Robert Watson (owner) offered me a villa rental at View Talay Villas, Jomtien, Pattaya for Dec 2008. Mr Watson sent me the contract which I signed, returned and paid two deposits totaling 36000 baht. Everything was fine,....I thought... as we had been in regular contact via email since April.

On the 27th Nov 2008 at the Emirates check in desk in Glasgow, we were told our flights from UK were cancelled due to the PAD protests. My family were so upset especially my three boys who were crying, we had this all planned for so long. I contacted five star villas and condos via email and telephone about the situation but they have ignored my emails and telephone calls. I am concerned that I have been well and truelly ripped off, I do hope I`m wrong.

    Any advice would be great.

Un shure if there are dolphins in pattaya?

did the trip a few years ago down to Oasis Sea World down a Chanthaburi, it is a good 3 hours drive each way from Pattaya.

    their details are:

    48/2 Moo 5 Paknam Laemsing

    Chanthaburi Thailand 22130 Tel. (039) 499-222 Fax. (039) 363-239 Website:

I contacted the Sanctuary via email...still waiting a response. I will now look into Oasis sea world, thanks.

Kind of felt very guilty after the day out down there as I now know such animals do really belong in the open seas.

  7. I've been thinking of this possibility since I saw the story. There are accidental options, too.

    Scenarios:

    1. Romantic partner wants to murder him. He/she gets him undressed at the prospect of sex, leaves the snake in the bed; the man gets bitten and reflexively bites back at the snake (as he has no other weapon at hand) and finally strangles it; by then he's dead and his body with the snake gets dumped as is.

    2. Same as #1, but it's an accident- the snake happens to be warming itself under the sheets and the unlucky man gets it just before he was supposed to get something else... body is dumped in a panic ("nobody will believe this!").

Im dying to know the outcome as I have been reading these posts...Any latest updates on the real event :o

  10. I paid about 990 Baht including Snow Town in June 2007 for each of us: farang and Thai girl. I got Thai price by speaking Thai and showing a Thai ATM card; they were thankfully relaxed about double-pricing so long as you appear to be a genuine resident. Socks and a plastic bag for afterwards are a great idea for lining the sticky, sweat-soaked wellington boots. Best thing was coming back out into the tropical sunshine ... what a torture to live at minus 6-degrees! A good day out with plenty of photo ops. Eat before you go in; not much in there. Make sure you arrive by noon, otherwise not enough time to see all before closing time.

Get off at Mo chit station then get a meter taxi (300baht) to Dreamworld (450baht entrance fee). Dont waste your money on Snowtown (extra cost).

  11. Hi Robert

Can you email me photos please? Also, what kind of deposit is required? I have found people are wanting mega money for a deposit which I simply cant afford.

Thanks for getting back to me

    Hello Cessnock

I have noticed your enquiry on this forum for a rental villa during December 2008

I am a real estate broker (do I hear boos and hisses?) handling a very nice rental villa in View Talay Villas.

We have available in December 2008 an exclusive holiday Villa for rent in View Talay Villas with a beautiful private swimming pool, 2 en-suite bedrooms, guest bathroom, kitchen, 2 living rooms with Satellite TV and Cable TV.

The rental INCLUDES pool maintenance, garden maintenance, Satellite & Cable TV service and water consumption. You just pay for the Electricity and Laundry. Rental for December 2008 is 72,000 Baht.

    I can email you photographs.

I look forward to your comments.

    Regards

    Robert

  12. How much are they going for? Surely you'd get one for 60k?

I doubt it VT appear to be get rich quick merchants. I'm VTR Residence, just by the VT Villas, and they want 50k per month for a 1 Bed Condo so I suspect a Villa would go for upwards of 100k.

Been offered Tudor Villa`s 3 bedroom outside Pattaya, any good? Is it too far?

  14. We are planning on coming to Bangkok on a 3 day weekend stop over at the end of November 2008. I dont know what area to stay in as I have 3 boys aged 8,8,13. We will be going to the Temples, Dream world, Siam waterpark and maybe the Forensic Museum plus lots of shopping of course.

I would like to be near the Skytrain and shops, street vendors, markets etc. I have`nt picked accomodation yet so that would be helpful too. Due to there being 5 of us I was thinking of a serviced apartment.

Any suggestions, opinions would be great.

    Thanks

  16. I expect to get a bit of abuse after posting this.....lol :D

As you will notice, I havent been a member of Thai visa for very long, but I have noticed anger and arrogance is very common among certain members. Have you noticed this? Whats the reason? Are they sitting at home with their TG`s bored? TG got a headache? TV crap? Lets pick on someone!! Hide behind their PC and give abuse....great fun....not!!

The abuse and piss taking some people take when they post a question is an absolute disgrace, there is no need for it. These abusers or should I say "Bullies" will drive people away from this great informative site. That`s not fair!!

The annoying thing is their replies normaly have nothing to do with the original question, so why bother answering. The moderators warn them, but still they cant keep their traps shut.

Its about time these people were kicked off Thai visa and told to find other ways of dealing with their frustration and anger. Therapy or anger management might help :D

    Just my pennies worth

  17. Anyone know of any Scottish bars or restaurants in Bangkok and Phuket? Scottish breakfast? Tattie Scones and Square sausage. Scottish Dinner? Mince & Tatties. Haggis & Neeps.

Dont care about Johnnie Walkers Whiskey as I used to live near the factory and the smell was enough.

    Thanks
