  1. No, Proton engine is no longer from Mitsubishi. Most Proton car are using Campro beside Savvy which using Renault engine.

The Campro engine is own design and built by Proton with the help of Lotus. Some source said the engine design is bought from Renault.

  2. In Malaysia, Proton car before 2006 have bad record of quality. And their sales is getting bad until they started to find oversea market, thats the reason they now go for Thailand. However they slighly improve since under new management.

Eventhough they are the first car manufacture in Malaysia, but now they are second best seller after the Perodua which only sold compact car below 1300cc. Yet now Proton car are relatively cheap compare to Perodua.

For export/oversea Proton car i guess there should be no worried since you have greater warranty, higher export quality and better after sales service. Unlike in homeland the after sales service is suck and it control by some government agency cronies.

@mki001, please keep your grandmother story. lolx

  3. My country local malay(malay=muslim people) news reporter said a Thai muslim claim some of the murder case is not isolated with their people. It will done by other and the Thai official just keep blame on the muslim terrorist. The news also said the Thai army keep abuses the muslim on southern Thai which them coming here as a refuge.

KOTA BARU: Border security forces are bracing for a surge in southern Thais crossing into Malaysia in the wake of escalating violence in the Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces, which has left some 30 people dead.

Thai-Malaysia Border Coordination Office director Col Chanwoot Indhulux said Thai security forces were “stretched” currently due to the incidences of violence.

“Our troops have to respond to various forms of violence, from protecting teachers and monks, to dousing fires from arson attacks. They also have to sweep areas suspected of having roadside bombs,” he added.

Col Chanwoot said he hoped Malaysia could help by tightening security to prevent illegal activities along the 1,400km-long border stretching from Perlis to Kelantan.

More Thais are expected to cross into Malaysia to escape the escalating violence in southern Thailand.

Thai Senator Kraisak Choonhavan said both the Thai and Malaysian governments needed to find ways to defuse the situation.

“If the violence escalates, the Thai Buddhists may head towards Bangkok and the Thai Muslims to Malaysia, where they share an affinity in terms of culture, religion and race,” he added.

Pattani-based South-East Asia Maritime State Studies Institute director Dr Worawit Baru said that historically, Thai Muslims did not openly declare their intention to flee the region.

“Usually they do it quietly – they seek refuge with relatives living across the Malaysian border.

“It will be difficult to detect an exodus. The militants, however, would usually stay and fight on,” he added.

Dr Worawit said the exodus may have already begun.

“People may just criss-cross the border and return to southern Thai again if they feel conditions have stabilised,” he added.

Kelantan police chief SAC (I) Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said they would continue to maintain tight security.

A state immigration spokesman said the Thais would likely flee into the country under the guise of migrant workers.

Thai authorities estimate that some 100,000 Thai Muslims had left southern Thailand since 2002 to work in Malaysia.

  4. I'm from Malaysia, the country located next to South Thailand.

I been visited to Hatyai, Songkla, Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok & Chiang Mai.

Tell you the truth, the way that thai people driving at Thailand is good enough than my country. Although in Bangkok is abit worst which might due to traffic jams pressure. Here is what i notice between them and my country. Overall the road user in Thai are more common sense around them and follow the rules/law. Ofcos there still some didn't following the rules by didnt wearing helmet. But the numbers of traffic offense here is twice less than in my country.

And in Thai, people tolerate within each other unlike my country with the typical My Father Road altitute. I feel more enjoy and confident while driving in Thai than in my own country. I even witness a Thai youngster been summon for not wearing helmet while in Phuket, the guy just keep silent as a prove admit his mistake. Unlike my country the offense will keep saying excuse and asking for bribe to settle it.

Here in my country, with only 1/3 population of the Thai. With average 15 people death in road accident per day and half of the number is motorcyclist. Most of the motorcyclist who dead is due to hit & run by car, overrun the red light, riding on the wrong way and ofcos didn't wearing helmet.

At here rveryone who driving any kind of vehicle is lack of tolerate, no street smart of common sense and me-first or my-road altitute. Traffic light is invisible n many road user just simply cross it even during yellow turn red or when it is red light, which in the end lead to road accident.

Even the driving license can be bought from our government agency. No driving license or been catch for not follow the rules? A bit of bribery can settle anything here.
