  1. You can see how desperate for humor I am when I say I chuckle at the recurrent personal stories of tourists and visitors in the context of "how important they are" to Thailand's economy. Please, folks, look at the stats re tourism's part of the whole economy.... good for a chuckle anyway.

Get it thru your foreigner-type heads...... Thailand DOES NOT CARE about foreigners except as they get some bad press occasionally.

If that is the case, why are they so obsessed with tourist arrival numbers?

  2. I have to wonder just how "inclusive" and PC the native European French people are feeling today.

    RIP to the victims.

Rot in Hell to the Islamic terrorists.

Thank you to French law enforcement.

One can only hope that this tragic incident results in such people waking up to the realities, especially in the UK too. The US and its vigilance in these matters of homeland security has been demonized for many years by these same people, and rather than say "I told you so," we should merely support and help these societies in their quest to take back their countries and ways of life.

    Don't hold your breath.

  3. An Aussie girl on holiday on Samui a few years back had the audacity to step onto a pedestrian crossing. A prick driving a pick up never made any attempt to stop or even slowdown. His side mirror struck the girls arm/shoulder smashing it, She had to be flown home for urgent surgery. The worthless bastard never even slowed down or made any attempt to stop and check on the girl by then sitting on the road in agony.

  4. I think that the Thai attitude in general is that the only people who walk are too poor to have a car or motorsai to go around in or on and therefore it doesn't matter if you hit a few... Disgusting I know but life is very cheap here if you're poor & if your not what are you doing walking?? must be a crazy falang... sad.png

    Yes,

cars are far more important than people's lives in Thailand.

  5. I was on my push bike when a pickup truck coming up behind me kept edging me over. I had no place to go except the gutter. When he came alongside me I pounded on his truck door and yelled "Hey Stupid watch where your going" By now he was at a stand still. His answer was so solorry. Seems to be the standard answer here when your in the wrong.

You're lucky he didn't take a tyre lever to you!!

  6. And here we go.

Just wondering does the author know that Chinese hardly spend any money?

It's like having a full bar, fully staffed yet no one drinking.

Yes it's busy, only it's costing money to be open without any income

konying, what are you talking about ??

Those Chinese tourists stay in hotels, and the increasing number of Chinese tourists has caused the construction of new hotels in Thailand during the last decade. The construction industry certainly benefits Thailand, even though lots of the construction workers are actually Cambodians.

Also, those hotels need staff, and a lot of the staff are Thai, so those Chinese tourists are creating some jobs in Thailand.

My Gf works in an upmarket Boutique hotel in CM and they really love it when their Chinese customers are shitting on the balcony, or when they book a tour and let the driver wait 1h before they are ready to go, or rent a motorbike with the hotel and starting hours of discussion about 50 B. There are plenty more stories. She says that the drivers no longer want Chinese customers and the hotel staff is every time really happy when they leave. Really sought after jobs working with rude, loud and uneducated people with their baseless superior attitude.

    Peasants with some money.

  7. These particular police officers are on the wrong side. Read between the lines.

"He also denied accusations that the investigation was to replace offenders with his own people."

You could have a point as it's claimed some of these signs have been in place for 2 years yet it's only now any action is being taken !

Like other investigations within the BIB at this time nothing is quite what it seems.

Like everything in Thailand, nothing is quite what it seems.

  8. Looks like Canarysun has some real competition in being The Cheapest of The Charlie's.

    LOL.

I don't know why I'm so cheap, I think it comes down to the fact that when you don't have a job or money coming in you have to make what you have last. Even though I would be a multimillionaire in Baht, It is still a fixed income.

The guys who have pensions and fixed incomes are in a much better position to spend, jeez, they don't have to make say 5 million baht last a lifetime. If you're on some kind of pension/retirement then you really wouldn't understand about having to make your money last.

I'm as cheap as they come, but not so cheap with everything. I have a note 3 cell phone for example. I usually try to buy high quality products, but that is being frugal because high quality products will outlast a lot of cheap quality products so you save in the long run.

I have 100000 baht to last a life time and 28 years old .

I think op can splurge on the medium sized slurpees .

I have 100000 baht to last a life time and 28 years old .

If that is all the money you will ever have...You are in trouble in that case

  9. Notice how every thread based around doing business in Thailand is clouded in mystery.

It's only a mystery to farangs who don't know how things operate here.

That's why it's so important to have Thais front for you whenever and wherever possible.

If you've been here a while and still don't have any Thais - family or friends - whom you can fully trust, then it's time to seriously consider leaving.

    Absolute bloody nonsense.

  11. Not bothered about sex (don't do bars or alcohol),

Prices haven't gone up that much in the last 5 years, as far as I can see.

    Would like a democratic government.

You have to study the som tam index. It's nearly doubled in the last five years.

About 6 years ago a burger from the Mac costed 20 baht, i just saw the price of it and it was 28 now. That's 40% more.

My salary didn't go up 40% in 6 years and also then i got much more bath for the euro.

I was in a Soi cowboy bar with a visiting Aussie the other night. 160 baht for a small glass of soda water was way over the top.

  12. Maybe that because most people now know the money and candles are robbed 50m down river, and Thais are getting pissed off with it too, as well as farangs. Romanticisim watching your hopes for a better year get rather wasted, when you see a snorkel rip your lover's candle diminish into the hands of a little thieving bastard 50 metres away, rather than sailing off into the sunset, wasn't exactly the idea.

Then again. I'm sure farangs will get blamed for the loss of income, as usual.

50 metres? At Saphan Phut the krathongs are lucky to last 3 metres before being trashed by the thieving little scumbags.

  13. Find it quite disturbing that the headline reads "farang"... sounds like "unidentified piece of trash drows..."

Would it be too much to ask that at least the media that has a foreign, non-Thai background could refer to us kindly as "foreigners" please?

    1zgarz5.gif

RIP to the victim and condolences to family and friends by the way...

Yes, he was only a Farang.
