  1. Just bought a new Oppo phone, excellent, so far.... If they build EV's to a similar standard they should be good. Mind you my American brand golf clubs are made in China and they only work occasionally.. ...
  2. Try Toyota Leasing, they financed both my vehicles and all my income comes here from abroad into a Thai bank. They do come to your house and conduct a lengthy interview. They were satisfied with my P60 and pension statements. As long as you meet the payments they don't give a rats..., No payment, no car. A Danish colleague of mine kept sending money to wife here for his car and when he came for a visit. No car on the drive, she had spent the money on something else.......
  3. I never falled for the tin of Tartan ink one. Many did....
  4. In my local bar we have an 81 year old ex professional footballer. Played for Huddersfield Town in the English first division. He played against all the greats in the 60's, Best, Charlton, Greaves etc and he said Bobby Moore was the nicest guy he ever met. Myself, very modest career, as an apprentice Lithograph printer in early 70's was instructed to go to the ink store for a long wait......
  5. Most of my drinking buddies wouldn't know a smartphone if came up and banjoed them in the face. All flat earthers still on Nokia talk and text. Surprisingly they all retired professionals, not the usual Brit/Chavs........
  6. I used to like his column and found his visit reports out to the Nakhon Nowheres amusing. He used to do some photo shoots of girls from the bars too.
  7. Not sure what you mean, but have read the e-mail sent to me and no mention of an access code. I don't have to apply until end of April, and despite filling in the form I may just do it all by telephone. However I have a lot of ongoing issues in my 'In tray', not least being treated for a heart condition at Phitsanulok hospital....
  8. I have both too, a 3 year old Wave 110 and a 16 year old 110 Click. The Wave is a bit agricultural but solid. No faults except battery has gone, I kick start it until I get round to ordering new one on Lazada. The Click has been great, used to put it in the back of pickup on the family hols. Most things have been replaced over the years, injection unit, brakes, battery. It still has braking issues, but every year passes the annual inspection....! Click definitely easier to ride and much better acceleration. I rarely get on it these days as wife hates the Wave, never come to terms with gears. Before this my daily ride was a Honda Sonic, but coerced into selling it to one of the family. Shame...
  9. Thanks for the recent advice and comments. Today I received an e-mail from the Newcastle Pension Centre (International). The UK State pension cannot be claimed on-line from outside of the UK Using GYSP system or the Government Gateway service, these are for United Kingdom permanent residents only. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-claiming-a-state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad So complete form, print off, sign it and post to the Wolverhampton address. or alternatively as Isan Farang suggested: The other option you have is to make a claim over the telephone. If you contact our claims department on +44 191 2187777 option 3 (Monday - Friday, 9-30am - 3:30pm UK time) we can take a telephone claim from you without you having to complete a form yourself. I have lived here in Thailand since 2005 and have no ties anymore to the UK, any correspondence gets sent to my address here in Phetchabun, P60's, private pension stuff etc.
  10. Yes I agree, I was tempted to tick the single box and if asked just say village wedding. But these things may catch you out......
  11. Just started to fill in my state pension form IPC-BR1. One of the sections on marriage requires a marriage certificate, that's if you select send original documents box. Along with birth certificate etc, which I have original. I was married in Don Mueang District, Bangkok, on 16 March 2007 and have the Thai language certificates. So do I need to have them translated into English, or just post off them as they are. Anyone have up to date info on this? I found the form not exactly easy as not very experienced in PDF/Acrobat reader stuff. THX
  12. I was at the traffic lights in town and they were being controlled by the Police and right next to them around 6 or so mo-cys. All but one not wearing a mask or crash helmet. I mentioned this to the one who knows everything sat next to me, and why the cops not doing anything. She trotted out her usual response "Thai people"
  13. I'd like to think that the RTP gave that a-hole a good briefing down at the cop shop. Couple of snooker balls in a sock sort of thing.....
  14. Red shirts are back, just got to get the yellows up and running and we can start the ding dongs on here again. No Shins , so maybe will be a damp fizz.......
  15. Thanks, I was being polite when I wrote copies. It was a much ruder Thai word. Mind you this was way back, 2008, and I no longer take Metformin.....
  16. Anyone used "Medtide" for buying Meds online? Certainly cheaper than the hospital I use. Talking specifically about non generic type medicines, ie expensive imported ones. My only concern is fake tablets as I was caught out once. I showed the Pharmacy here in town, and they told me, "copies" I was on Metfartin at the time...
  17. Wrong, the income letters were stopped mainly due the intransigence of the Brits in their dealings with the Immigration Police.
  18. Jeez, 12K , at least Dick Turpin wore a mask......
  19. At last a common sense post. So far three pages of Mr Thailand's telling us how we should be living our lives here........
  20. Yes that may be the issue with us, the sister in Germany is 48 years old. She could not fly here to do herself so my wife and family had to do. The certificate has gone to Bangkok to be translated into German and verified by I'm not sure who MFA, but an agent is taking care of it. My German is reasonable and will read it when it is posted on to us. We live in Phetchabun, 700KM round trip, twice now... family......
  21. I have just been through this procedure with my wife. Her sister who lives in Germany requires a Thai birth certificate. It is not easy, it's done at the district Amphur. Luckily her elderly mother is still alive, if deceased I am convinced we wouldn't have been successful. The village head man and two brothers plus my wife all had to be interviewed. A lot of signing of paperwork, and plenty of thumbprint from Mum. We were there most of the day. Kabin Buri District, Prachin Buri. Good luck, it may be different process where your wife comes from....
  22. Confiscate the Mo-cy too, make him walk home... In a mask......
  23. I worked for Crab Airways for 30 years, 24 hours is a doddle.... Per Ardua ad Astra
