I couldn't agree more with you Vitbkk.....in fact I am hoping that the crisis worsens as business has never been so so good, Having more and more troubled companies coming to me for new and innovative marketing solutions. I too just started a small PR and Marketing company at ekamai and things are booming like hel_l. People are beginning to realise that the big agencies with fanciful offices in big buildings and stupid account servicing staff are not helping them at all.

The only bad thing about TV was that in the begginning, I met a few trolls here who just wasted my time...one a so called "big time broker for venture capital cum health services marketeer "based in Rajthwithi area and the other a real troll...a seventy year old troll with a walking stick and a 21 year thai gf who stays in Sukhumvit thirty something, who lead me on a wild goose chase. Besides these two bad experiences,the others were online...a few jealous trolls and a few people with no heart...anyway to them.....bad karma is coming your way for being as such.

But all in all TV is a cool place and most of the people here are nice.

Kudos to the Pattaya Cops...from the postings I have being seeing here, it seems that they are finally getting rid of all the undesirables in Pattaya......what about Bangkok....when are they going to start here.

Also, they should also focus on getting rid of the local whores and their patrons, corrupt cops, etc

Jonathan Ive was an British Industrial designer working for Apple who was heading the design team for the ipod along with Paul Mercer, a French Technical Engineering Designer but the extrenal firm that was contracted to come out with the actual initial recommendations for product design was Carlin International Co ltd, A french firm that is also contracted to numerous design houses,MNCs, etc.

Apple computers have been for eons contarcting a company based in france called : Carlin International to assist them with trendspotting, market reaserch,computer trends and behaviour and product design including the Ipod that was actually designed by Carlin International.

As far as the hollywood movies industry is concerned, you will be surprised that at the at the stages where a script or sreenplay is being selected, again a trenspotting firm or market research firm is brought in to assess audiences wants and appeal. In fact a lot of the big companies like Sony Pictures, Dreamworks, Miramax, etc have their own inhouse market research/trendspotting departments.

Check out internet websites about trendspotting and you will be surprised how many companies are using them including companies like coke, pepsi, etc.

Collating raw market data, analysing it and putting it to good use is a big bucks business these days and you will be surprised to see how big it companies are also using it such as Google, Adobe, Microsoft, My Space, You Tube, etc

Having said.....why do people always ask for free advice from the non-specialists and then get into a situation where things have gone messy and at that point, having lost all their monies, start looking for professional help but can afford them.

Spent a bit of money on the professionals. Yeap, needing legal and professional advice or issues regarding real estate issues and or businesses for sale, use Sunbelt....they are good. I am not saying that web-based businesses are bad or that one should not be embarking on it and yes, I do agree that even with failures, we should learn from it and still keep on going but the problem is that these guys that i have come across.....to be exact about 8 over the last two months...came to me for help and advice they have gone totally busted and are not even able to afford anything to revive/salvage /modify/improve on whatever that they have being doing plus they never did a proper study of the project or how to market it,etc....it is interesting if you were to note a report about web-based businesses that appeared in the second week of January in the Post Database this year, only one out of every 800 odd web-base business ever succeed.Its just that I am merely advising everyone out there especially those with little funds, before they embark on a project...do their homework first.

I have witnessing a new trend here in Bangkok especially by single Farang Guys who are nearly going broke. They suddenly come up with ideas or are advised by others to go into a web-based business and they then invest huge amounts of money or even borrow money from friends...amounts like Bt 30k to 120K to get somebody to do their websites,etc and then after a month or two, they desperately start seeking help as are broke or the money is not coming in.

Examples are: Online Travel Agencies, Online Dating, Online Trading especailly Thai products, etc

Please before spending you last dimes on a web-based project...do your market reseach properly and also understand that just a web-ste and also links with search engines are not enough. There is lots of competition these days days and also you need offline mainstream marketing, PR and promotional strategies to make your sites work along with unique Unique Selling Points,Products,etc.

Please don't go bust embarking on something you know little about.

I do not think that it is good to generalise any any specific race or nationality. It all depends on the individuals and their upbringing. I have come across decent French Folks and also a varied range of decent folks from different nationalities and at the same time have come across obnoxious French, Chinese, Indians, British, Americans, Middle-Easterns, you name it. It all depends on their upbringing.

If the agents and the US government is really sincere about eradicating child prostitution in Thailand, they should put more efforts in ensuring that all these places that the agents visited were busted and the poor kids rescued along with media coverage of the criminals behind it. Also it is disgusting these days that the paedophiles are running modelling agencies for kids and if u were to browse the internet they have sites for kid models where little girls and boys are dressed in sexually provocative ways...these sites should be banned.....anybody claiming to be interested in such arts are sick in their minds and are paedophiles...do not use art as an excuse.

Also, all of us decent expats here can do something...if ever you spot or have strong suspicions of any other expats who could be indulging in such activities....report them immediately.

Just for everybody to be careful...I started having abdominal pains that were sometimes really untolerable in the year 2002 and went to both BNH and also Bumrungrad Hospital to see the GI specialists there. HAs scans, colonoscopy,etc and both diagnosed that I had IBS. There put me on painkillers, colofac, etc. The pains got worst and despite further tests in 2005, they continued treating it as IBS. In March 2006 during a trip to Singapore, I went to see a specialists at the ME Hospital who insisted I do a coloscopy again and scans. A further tests revealed that i had colonic cancer that was in the latent stage and this was reconfirmed by specialists from two other hospitals in Singapore. Though I was given two to three months...I managed to fight the battle with the aid of a very good oncologists from Sydney which included chemo, surgery and also a host of other alternative therapies. Fortunately I am now cured. I never drank or smoked in the fast, was not overweight, no family history of cancer or was I reckless with my diets but yet I got it. Please my advice to all....get a good doctor and a good hospital! Do not sacrifice on money as you could lose it all. later.Anyone who needs advice based on what I have gone through...do not hesitate to contact me.
