The police are just cowards, plain and simple. They understand only bribes and it is obvious they have already been bought off. For them the rule of law means nothing. "Show me the Baht" is their motto.

The thousands comes from all the workers in those malls, the hotels and shops that are now closed. The number of employees in some of those department stores number in the hundreds. Then add in all the maids, cleaning people, hotel clerks and the people working at over 100 restaurants in Central World. They add up and these are just ordinary working people. They are not rich. They are just trying to earn a living. Depriving them of a pay check is not democracy.

Where are the citizens of Bangkok? Their city has been taken over. The general of the army wants to surrender. The police hide in their compound, refusing to do anything. There are thousands of Thais who have been forced out of their jobs. These people make very low wages and are now coming up on two weeks without pay. Will that last a month or longer. How about those owners of small businesses who have closed for two weeks. The bus routes have been altered; the sky train was closed for a day. Why do the people of Bangkok do nothing. This is their city. Can no one organize some rallies? Do the people care so little for their fellow citizens? for their city? Their army and police will do nothing. Why do the citizens of Bangkok no stand up for themselves?

There are several shops in Central World, including a Super Sport. They do have periodic sales with savings of about 50%.

I was in there the other and it was full. I fellow showed up for dinner and they seated him at Sunrise Tacos and he was able to order from Duke's while there. It was good to see Duke's so busy.

They are ordinary Thais fed up with all the demonstrations and wish for a peaceful end to the current problems. That is what my Thai language teacher told me. If you see more Thais wearing white that is the reason. On some occasions I have seen the Thai soldiers, at the BTS stations, wearing small white ribbons, also with ribbons of the Thai flag and orange ribbons, red and yellow mixed together make orange.

I believe there is a Bose shop at Siam Paragon Mall.

I had dinner at Duke's tonight. It was my second time there. I thought it was very good, both time. The first time I had pizza. I'm not a fan of thin crust pizzas, but I really liked theirs. The crust had a great taste and the toppings where also very good. Many pizzas I've had in this town skimp on the toppings and the cheese. That is not the case at Duke's. Tonight I had the 1/4 pound cheeseburger and fries plus a cup of chili. The chili I really liked. I is a plain ordinary chili, but the flavor was excellent. I will be back for one of burgers. The ketchup was the real deal. I will return to Duke's; I look forward to trying some of the other items on their menu.

Any 'notarization' required of any of the documents? Copies, vice originals, allowed?
Thanx.
My police report came notarized. I just copied that. Everything was copies of the original. I included the original with the copies. My doctor did no tests on me. He knew had none of the named diseases, plus he knew I had planning this for a while.

I drove down to Portland yesterday to get a retirement visa. I had four photos, and four copies of each of the following: a police report, the health certificate, a statement from my pension, the visa application and the retirement visa application. There where three people in front of me when I arrived, but I was out of there, visa in hand, in 20 minutes. I must say that the visa stamp in my passport looks really cool. I should be in country on October 5th.
Nice to know that the Portland Consulte is still giving fantastic service.... I did the same as you, in their office, only it was 8 years ago... One of the best things that I ever did....
Congratulations, Welcome to your New Life...

Thanks, it's been in the planning stage for a while. I guess I'll need the change the "where I'm from" box.

It is multi entry. One of the benefits from reading this forum, I knew which on to ask for.

For me, it's not a matter of being attracted to dark skin, but being attracted to asian women, especially Thai women. How dark or light their skin doesn't really matter.

I don't complain to much, but I have been charged more for street food on Phuket. In my home state if you are from out of state you pay more for the parks, the zoo and at all the universities and colleges. At the state universities and colleges you pay more than triple what in state students pay. They still have many foreign students.

Snickers, in all sizes, are already in Pattaya. Why, exactly, is this special package of snickers needed?

Try the Bourbon Street Bar & Grill in Washington Square for free wifi.

I use to be a big Favre fan. He helped my fantasy team win a lot during Green Bay's hay day. Now he's lost his luster. The Vikings have made a mistake.

Also known as Rocky Mountain Oysters.

I can think of two: Muhammad Ali and Aung San Suu Kyi.

I have had a cheeseburger in Bully's. It was horrible; it was like a piece of asphalt. It was so overcooked that the cheese boiled away. I never went back.

Recently, I was in Bangkok for six months. I enjoyed all the different food and many fine restaurants. But I missed being able to get a good burger. At home, a good burger is available at most restaurants, and an excellent one at many places.

Livinginexile, I'm glad to see you sticking with it. One day at a time. It will get easier.
Vietnamese-made Musical Instruments In Bangkok?

I don't know if this well help, but there is a shop on Soi Ekkamai that makes and repairs violins. They also have other string instruments. They might be able to point you in the right direction. If you go down the soi from Sukumvit they are on the right hand side just before Big C. It's probably about a third of a mile from Sukumvit. I have walked by it many times and it looks like a nice shop.
