  1. I also use ChefsXP and found the delivery service, variety of food and price very good. I am a very satisfied repeat customer. Keep up the good work ChefsXP.

  2. I have stayed at two different hotels, when I was not able to get into the room safe. The first time the safe battery went dead and the night clerk came to the room with a small tool and in only a minute opened the safe. The second time I must of pushed the reset switch that is located on the inside of the door as I was closing the safe and this caused it to not open when I keyed in the combination. Again the hotel manager came up to the room with a small tool and opened the safe in only a minute.

I have seen at stores the same safes that are at hotels selling for about 3,000 baht.

If I buy one of these safes at the store I could also get my own tool for my safe. I do not think this tool would be unique to a hotels room safes. Hotel room safes are a relativley new addition to Thai hotels. Cheap safes like these are only good security to keep honest people honest.

  3. Nok Air 2:00 PM flights on Oct. 19th and 20th were cancelled and no notice was given to me by phone or e-mail. I was schedualed to fly 2:00PM on Oct. 20th. The reason given was plane maintenance. I changed to the 7:30 AM flight on Oct. 20th.

The only reason I found out about the change was I went to the Udon Thani airport on Oct. 19th to try and change my flight to the Oct. 19th. It was at that time I was told the 2:00 PM flights were cancelled.

  4. If you leave the country and find out that your account has been reduced due to ATM withdrawals by a criminal, you will definetly have a very diffulcult time trying to get your money back from your bank. You may eventually get your money back, but it could be a big problem if its a large amount of money. The ATM account for small money and a' No ATM account for large money is good advice.

Thailand has the title of SouthEast Asia Winner for the Highest Credit Card Fraud. Being very careful with your money is a top priority.

Problems with money is no fun.

  5. Thaksin is new PGA president

    PRADIT RUANGDIT

Ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was yesterday named the new president of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of Thailand.

Mr Thaksin was nominated after incumbent president Pongsak Raktapongpaisal pulled out of the contest. Torpong Chaisarn, a would-be candidate, opted out while Gen Wichar Siritham, the Thai PGA's secretary-general, was not nominated.

Mr Pongsak, who was deputy secretary-general of the Thai Rak Thai party when Mr Thaksin was in power, said the former prime minister was delighted to accept the post. They discussed his nomination during a recent golf tour in Beijing.

He said Mr Thaksin is suitable for the title due to his contribution to the Thai PGA. Mr Thaksin, who has been in exile since the Sept 19 coup, is likely to make a policy statement soon. The fact he is overseas poses no management problems.

Mr Torpong said he pulled out because it was pointless to run against Mr Thaksin.

"There are no political implications," he added.

  6. MacBook and MacBook Pro Battery Update

Apple has recently discovered that some batteries used in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks may have battery performance issues. Apple is offering a software update that is designed to improve battery performance.

The battery update is available immediately via Software Update or downloadable here.

Note: The factors causing the performance issues do not present a safety risk. You may continue to use your current battery.

This battery update should be run on all MacBook and MacBook Pro computers and extra batteries that were purchased between February 2006 and April 2007.

If, after you have installed the battery update, your battery has any of the symptoms listed below, please make a reservation to bring your computer with its battery to your local Apple Retail Store, or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP), or call your local Apple Support Contact Center. If Apple or an AASP determines that your battery is eligible for replacement, you will receive a new battery, free of charge, even if your MacBook or MacBook Pro is out of warranty.

For MacBook and MacBook Pro systems with Intel Core Duo processors, this program extends repair coverage on the battery for up to two years from the date of purchase of the computer.

    Identifying an affected battery

Affected batteries will have one or more of the following symptoms:

Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.

Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.

Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.

    Battery pack is visibly deformed.

Note: If your MacBook or MacBook Pro battery does not have any of the symptoms noted above, your battery does not need to be replaced.

  7. I did a wire transfer from my Citibank account in the USA to my Kasikorn Bank account in Bangkok last week. When I opened the account at Kasikorn Bank I told them that I would be doing a wire transfer in the near future. The clerk at the Kasikorn Bank handed me a paper with the banks name,

Swift Code:" KASITHBK" and telephone number for English help, Tel. 02-888-8800. I went online to my Citibank Account to the International Wire Transfer section and filled in the information. I filled in that I wanted to send US Dollar to Thailand. I completed all the information at about 5:00 pm Thai time. I had checked the exchange rate for changing a $100 Dollar Bill in person at the bank for that day.The next day at 10:30 AM I went to the Kasikorn Bank and the money was in the account. The exchange rate was almost exactly the same as if I had changed $100 Dollar Bill at the bank in Thiland. The charge for the wire transfer was $30 US Dollar. This charge was debited from my US Citibank account. The transfer of money was very straight forward and clear to understand. It appears that the use of intermedate banks and other information is confusing what actually should be a simple transaction.

  8. I puchased a Chocolate Brownie and other food at Villa Market at Ploenchit Center Sukumvit Soi 2. After I got home I found that the package label with the bar code was for a White Chocolate Cream Pie and that the Expiration Date had been hand written on another sticker that had been affixed by hand. I think the original packageing had the real expiration date, and they switched the brownie into another container so they could sell it.I had read that this has been a problem at Villa Market in the past but that there had been so many complaints that it had been stopped. I tasted the Brownie and it was so stale that I threw the remainder in the garbage.

  9. The quality of the food at the all you can eat salad bar and the presentation is one of the best I have seen in Thailand.

The Lunch Specials with the all you can eat salad bar is one of the best deals for moderate priced restaurants in Thailand.

Also the cleanliness of the restaurants in Thailand that I have been in has been excellent.

It certainly is not the J.W. Marriot Steak House but neither is the price.

  10. My apartment building has free wi-fi. I have two user accounts setup on my laptop.

I have been using one of the user accounts only when I am on the wireless internet connection.

I then will turn off the wi-fi connection and log out of the first user account and then log in to the second user account where I keep all my sensitive. Is this helping to keep my laptop more secure ?
