  1. The man does not know what he is talking about, i have been using " cannabis oil" for over 4 years to treat my condition ( there is no cure but it means that i do not need any other form of medication),  i belong to several groups and regularly there are stories of people with differing types of cancer who have been "cured". Israel is the leading country in respect of using cannabis oil to treat/cure diseases and they are surprised that it has taken other countries so long to see the benefits of medicinal marijuana.

  2. 13 hours ago, Don Chance said:

The whole 'medical cannabis" thing was always about decriminalizing.

The right demonized the drugs so the left had to combat the reefer madness with something. So they did studies proving that cannabis was efficacious for some medical conditions. Then they could force the government to allow it for medical purposes. Most government have a mandate to provide medicines to their people.

That's how it went in Canada, they sued the government in court for not allowing cannabis to be sold and criminalizing sick people. The courts made the government change.

Thailand is now doing the same things. Someone in the higher up wants weed to be legalized. It sure isn't the military regime.

The down side of all the medical weed is that people actually think it is a cure all medicine. Anxiety and insomnia are symptoms of addiction. So addicts can claim they need cannabis for those conditions. Anyone who really had those conditions would not want to take cannabis, it would just make it worse.

It is good that addicts are not being criminalized but legalizing should not be legitimizing. If you smoke every day you are an addict and you will experience the many side effects of the drugs, whether or not you realize it or not.

Memory lose, confusion, paranoia, de-socialization. It is not hard to observe cannabis users experiencing these symptoms. You don't want to smoke marijuana every day that is for sure. It is not an answer to life.

Medicinal marijuana is " cannabis oil", which cannot be smoked.

  3. It seems some people have no concept of life here and it's costs. I have lived here for 22 years, own my own house and truck, so that is one cost i don't have but i now live off a pension of around 35k. I have money in the bank, but don't need it as 35k more than covers my outgoings. I eat well, i cook for myself Thai and Western food, would never go as low as eating street food. Been there and done that years ago, never to be repeated. As the OP is thinking of living in Krabi he is not a bar mongerer, so that is a big saving. I have not paid a Thai whore in over 19 years yet i meet many Thai girls, although it helps that i can speak Thai. As suggested, try it for a couple of months. What i would say, is that Krabi is a bit boring.

  4. It should be legalised for medicinal purposes i.e. cannabis oil as is in several US states and now Australia. The UK won't be far behind. There are many, many documented cases of cannabis oil being used as treatment/cure for several cancers plus a number of other ailments including COPD. As i suffer from the latter i have done a lot of research on this.

  5. I was diagnosed with COPD 6 months ago and would like to contact fellow sufferers. As this disease affects 1 in 4 smokers there must be many others in LOS like me.

An exchange of thoughts, treatments, medications, diets etc.

How are you treated by your hospital/doctor/specialist?

  6. I started smoothies 4 years ago as i would catch flu twice a year, since then....not a sniff. Recently diagnosed with mild COPD so i now really pack the vitamins in.

Don't use carton juice or soya milk as a base, too much sugar and chemicals.

I juice 2 x large carrots and 2 x large oranges as my base for the smoothie ( for two people). Add that to the blender with an apple, banana, half a mango, large slice of pineapple, honey, pumpkin seeds plus frozen (from Makro) blueberries #1 fruit in the world and frozen mandarin oranges. Add ice cubes as required.

This will keep you going until lunchtime.

  7. Thanks

Not much different then. Just love that video.

It's a waste of time for me as i work.

Before i would turn up around 0830 and get in line. Finished by lunchtime but recently heard that it now takes all day?

Been here nealy 19 years and speak very good Thai, but still find them to be a nasty bunch as i understand what they are saying behind my back..

  8. Next month i have to renew my Thai driving, a prospect i loathe as it is a complete waste of time and a day. Plus dealing with the nastiest, abrubt and bad mannered government workers i have encountered in 18 years here.

Can anyone tell me what is now required (paperwork) as it has bound to have changed over the last 5 years.

    Thanks

  9. I live near pattaya and have had COPD for a few years. I does,nt really affect me unless I do something strenuous like walking uphill for periods of 5 mins or more.

I can only cycle on the flat as well, so you are limited physically, depending your lung capacity, ie less than 50%, walking is enough.

I think living in this climate is better for me than living in the UK. I do go back every year for a check up and review meds.

I am not sure if you die from COPD, more likely something that could be related to it.

Eat healthy, exercise and keep your weight down and you,ll be ok for many more years.

PS, I,d be more concerned about my health driving on the roads in Thailand!

I already eat well and have started juicing, exercise not so easy as i am waiting for a hip replacement. There is a very good forum in the UK linked to the British Lung Foundation called health unlocked....lots of good information on there.

It is a terminal illness with around 30,000 people dying of it each year in the uk, but it is a slow disease...unless you are unlucky. One guy went from Stage 1 to stage 4 in 4 years.

Another guy was diagnosed in 1985....30 years ago, he is now in his 80's but is on oxygen 24/7.

You are right though you won't necessarily die from it, but you will die with it....cancer, heart attack, car accident....the way they drive here now the latter is probably the most risky.

Best thing i did was stop smoking.

So you have your check up and meds in the UK? Interesting as i am going there in August. One of my concerns is that once i hit 70 my insurance company will not cover me especially if they know i am copd and there is no way i could afford to pay out of my own pocket, so it looks as though i will have to expatriate back to the UK sometime in the next 8 years.

  10. Does anyone have or know someone who has COPD here in Phuket? With the number of smokers i have seen here over the yesrs, there must be quite a few.

Recently diagnosed myself so i am interested in chatting to fellow sufferers, swopping informaion, medications etc. Maybe forming a help group as they do in the UK and USA.

For those that don't know....and i didn't, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is a terminal illness caused in the main by smoking. 1 in 4 male and 1 in 6 female smokers will die from it.

RiP and condolences to his family.

No matter your opinion of him a little respect should be given.

    A man has died today.

Did you shed a tear when saddam Hussein was hanged?
This guy was a Thug who ruled patong with an iron fist, i knew him nearly 20 years.
Believe me, no love lost except those who will no longer be on his payroll.

Comparing him to saddam is just a ridiculous statement.

Shame in you for even trying.

    Ridiculous?

Saddam was a human being, so was Hitler, Pol Pot etc. I am not comparing Pian to these people only the fact that he was human, same as them.

    As you quoted:

No matter your opinion of him a little respect should be given.

So i ask the question again...did you shed a tear when saddam was hanged? he was after all a human being.

    A man has died today.

  12. Thaifriendly, Thailovelines, Thailovelinks, Badoo, Tagged, all pretty good. Have met 58 girls over the last 2 years, shagged 51 of them. Couple of nightmares but no scams. Only had one who decided to take a souvenier from my house...an old lap top with burnt out hard disk. Apart from that, mostly nice girls....however, the ability to speak Thai is a huge advantage.

Out of all of them i would say that Thaifriendly has the most choice.

  13. Not so easy but can.

1.) First buy Land (sanot only) without anything on the top !!! If there are a house all ready, is will not working. (Your Thai fan can do it)

2.) Then register is Land on the Land department on the Name of your Thai fan .

3.) Make a 2x30 years Renting contract for this Land with your Thai fan and let is register in the Land department. Use a Layer to do it. It will take 6-12 months.

4.) Pay the Land Tax after register is finish

5.) Start then and NOT BEFORE , to make your house in according with the Thai regulation.

Then you are the owner of the house (not of the Land) for the next 2x30 years. After this time , your Thai fan get is house.

Does anyone understand this or is it just me?

    1. No problem buying an existing land plot and house (something on the top?). Register the house in your name, land in fan???? g/f/wifes name with 3 x 30 year leases.

    3. 6-12 months? I registered my lease in about 30 minutes.

Then you are the owner of the house for the next 60 years, but then your fan??? g/f/wife gets it. Not true. A properly constructed document will alllow you to leave the house to whomever you wish.

I wish people would STOP giving incorrect information.

  14. Meant to say where as before I used to pay True - 2,155.15 per month now I pay CTH 961.93 inc of vat + 590 inc to True for Super Knowledge which gives me a saving of over 600 baht per month. It is early day I am sure CTH will get more channels and will become even better True got to greedy and believed they were to big they must be struggling with the huge amount of loss in revenue for not retaining the EPL

With True super knowledge do you get AXN? Having CTH installed today, but the wife is moaning about losing AXN, so have said we will downgrade True to the basic. As long as she has AXN that will keep her happy.

  15. I was due to have CTH fitted this afternoon so that i can watch the English premier league, but a friend called me last night...as he had his fitted a couple of days ago...to say that CTH is crap. The football commentary is in Thai only and whilst i can speak Thai i cannot listen to Thai commentary on football...it does my head in with stupid cooments, ohoo every few seconds plus a lack of knowledge of the game. Added to this...no AXN, no BBC, no HBO. So, back to square one.

    Anyone know of an alternative?

  16. Bullshit she is eating Bt.20,000 per week.

I agree...impossible. We are a family of 3, including a 15 year old daughter, we eat fresh food every day cooked at home and our average cost for the evening meal is around 90thb. If i total up breakfast and lunch then maximum spend is about 300thb per day and we eat well.

1/2kg of chicken is only 100thb, a big plate of fresh veg is about 15thb...so impossible to be eating 2,600thb of food a day.

  17. I moved out of karon/kata 13 years ago as it was becoming too commercialised then, would hate to think what it is like now with all the tourists. It depends what you want, if you don't mind paying tourist prices for food etc, then kata is ok.

One of the other reasons i moved is that it is not so easy to get around, as you either have to go via Chalong or Patong to go anywhere.

As you have young kids, you also need to think about schooling and the journey 4 times a day.

Personally, having lived in a number of areas in Phuket, Kathu takes some beating. Centrally located, only 10-15 minutes from a beach. Lots of local and expat restaurants.
