  1. thanks, I'll do that as a last resort. Seems a little silly though seeing that the same immigration office just extended my visa based on the required funds in my bank account! Perhaps I'll tick the 'sell motorcycle' instead.
  2. I posted here a couple of months ago about the documents required by VFS for renewal of my British passport. Decided to go the certificate of residence from Samut Prakan immigration route but have just been turned down on the grounds that they only issue said certificates for driving licence renewal or to open a bank account! News to me. I think I will instead go to my Thai bank and ask for a statement and letter showing my address and present that to VFS along with my lease, TM30 and last 90 days certificate. Has anyone tried that recently and had those documents accepted as proof of address? Many thanks in advance
  3. thanks. won't be travelling so not an issue and in any case will be applying for new British passport within the next three months and requesting the transfer of visa, so all good (I hope)
  4. I understand that provided my British passport has at least 6 months validity left when I apply for an extension for retirement visa (this will be my fourth such stamp and I will have 11 months left on the passport), Samut Prakan will issue the extension up until the expiry date of the passport. I realise that all future extensions will be based on that new date, which isn't a problem. Can anyone confirm please that my understanding is correct? Thanks in advance
  5. Yes I have, but it's dated 21/7/2020 so presumably not valid. (sorry only just saw your post)
  6. thanks to you all. fortunately I have given myself plenty of time before I need to renew my passport so will probably go with the residence certificate complete with translation option just to be safe.
  7. Would monthly bills from True Visions and True Online (for internet) do?? Sorry to be a nuisance, if not will go to immigration office
  8. okay thanks, guess I will need to apply for a residence certificate from immigration - last time they gave me a letter but apparently they can longer do that. My fault, thought the TM30 was sufficient proof of residence. The problem is that when I retired, had my media visa cancelled and then applied for an extension of stay for retirement, immigration merely gave me a year's stamp.
  9. I don't have a driving licence and the phone bill is in my landlady's name. And my mobile phone is prepaid! Would a statement from my Thai bank with my full address be acceptable?
  10. Can anyone confirm if VFS will accept a rental agreement (lease) on my residence along with my most recent receipt of notification (90days) and TM 30 as proof of address when renewing my British passport. Thanks in advance

  12. hope it worked this time, sorry connection problems today
  13. A quick note on my experience this week in extending my non-O visa for retirement at Samut Prakan immigration to warn others who may not be aware of a new regulation. On my initial visit with all the documents I have used without problems in the past, I was informed that I needed to show an up-to-date rental agreement in addition to the TM30. This, I was told, was a new and recently introduced regulation. Duly went back with an updated rental agreement and my visa was extended. I don’t know whether this rule is only for extension of visas for retirement or whether it is needed for all visa extensions but any readers of this thread who use the Samut Prakan immigration office should be aware that they could be asked for their lease/rental agreement.
  14. You can get the Moderna bivalent vaccine for free if you are living in Thailand as opposed to being a tourist at the following Bangkok venues: Atrium zone, 5th floor, CentralWorld shopping mall on Rama I Road Noon to 6pm every Friday to Saturday until May 28 (except the election weekend on May 13-14). MBK 6th floor Zone D 9am to 3pm daily until May 12th then the weekends of 20-21 May, 27-28 May You will need your passport and previous vaccine certificates. I had my booster earlier this week at MBK. It was busy but quick.
