  1. >again.. an all new pick-up that at a certain angles can be mistaken as a 7 year old hilux.. heheh.. it would be really interesting what toyota comes up with.. from my point of view.. all toyota has to do is change the internals and there you go back up again with the competition..

IMHO, it looks much more like a Tata Xenon with those big flared wheel arches than it does a Hilux.. You really do need to see it in the flesh to be fair - it's much bigger than a Hilux, and has much better "presence" because of it - the photos don't show that aspect very well..

As for Hilux just dumping in some new engines and gearboxes - they'll need to do a little more than that. These new gen trucks have much stiffer chassis (better handling), longer wheelbase (more comfort), better rear leaf spring setups (can actually be called "comfortable" w/out a load in the back), better NVH, and higher equipment levels.

The achilles heel of the D-Max is going to be those dated engines - the 5AT and the sharp pricing are big plusses though.

Toyota's will still always sell well, but they will certainly lose market share to these new models (Ranger, Bt-50, D-Max, and Colorado) until the IMV2 Hilux comes in 2014.

i guess your right.. but from what my eyes tells me.. the black Dmax on the picture, certainly has the hilux curves.. i am not pro hilux,, now with this new Dmax that is apparently biggier i would definitely choose it over the hilux.. for me what the hilux had goin was its size.. the question that i really want answered though.. is that why did it take so long for the other pick up manufacturers to come up with a new pick up that has a very similar outline to the hilux? was the hilux that far ahead in its design? and as i mentioned .. i dont think it will take much to improve the hilux design to get it back on par with the new pickups.. making the chassis stronger would be easy.. as the hilux chassis and body are 2 piece.. add a few safety upgrades its a done deal..

  2. again.. an all new pick-up that at a certain angles can be mistaken as a 7 year old hilux.. heheh.. it would be really interesting what toyota comes up with.. from my point of view.. all toyota has to do is change the internals and there you go back up again with the competition..

  3. all toyota needs to do is update a few things and they will be on par with the ford ranger... that is looking similar to the Vigo.. so if toyota up rated their engines then Ford will be doing some catching up again.. after all the Vigo had been out a few years..then Ford comes out with a new pickup.. that can be mistaken for a vigo.. what that says for me is that toyota had been ahead all this time..

i wonder if a DMax is on the works that be be as big as the Vigo and ranger.

  4. If you dont replace/clean a dirty filter, its a quick way to burn out your blower motor,,

wouldnt opening the door when u walk in or out of a taxi be enough to change some of that air in the car? to make it more even with the outside air?

im just wondering. because on a very hot day. when you open the car door or window for a few seconds you instantly feel the heat coming into the car.. hhhmmmm

  5. here in the philippines more and more are buying the H1 or hyundai grandstarex as its know over here.. my personal opinion would be to choose the hyundai.. its definitely more value for money with 4 wheel disc brakes and other safety features. and the biggest reason as to why i would get it over the toyota is the comfort factor.. it is way so much more comfortable than any of the hiace variants. so give it try..

  6. wow, when did the new fortuner arive? still have to see an independent rear suspension for a fortuner..last fortuner i saw had solid rear axles,,as well as innova, they just have coil spring suspension,, unlike the isuzu MU that has solid rear axles but uses leafspring suspension.

  7. its amazing how much we rely on new technology these days.. and how more and more people are really forgetting how to drive.... this is my opinion.. but i just feel its really still up to the driver and how he drives that will save your life.. now if everyone can drive as they ought to... dnt you think it will be safer overall... but this is earth. i guess its all a dream....

  8. 70,000 taxis in bkk!

    Yeh...& all on Sukumvit Soi 3 !!

So what's the crack then? Did you leave your wallet in it or something?? :o

no i didnt leave anything in the taxi.. its just that here in the manila honda doesnt allow their cars to be used as a taxi,, something to do with the prestige slogan... and i think its the same for bangkok i think... read it somewhere.. so i was just really surprised to see this taxi in thailand.. now i have had second thoughts as to whether it was a civic or not but i was pretty sure it was colour light blue.... so it had to be a taxi....
