  1. If you're living in the boondocks, it might be so that there are no suitable cables in your area yet.

What to do? Live with the advice of the TOT guy.

Hi , I do live out in the sticks, but have come to learn that you can't all ways go by the answer you are first given here, I just thought an adsl connection used the normal TOT telephone lines ..?

  2. I am not a technical person , so this question may sound a bit dumb to some, I have recently moved to a new house that has a TOT telephone line installed, first ive connected my computer to the internet by using the built in dial up modem, and the results are '' slow'' about 40Kbps !!! , so I went to see the TOT office guy and asked if I can have adsl installed, he asked for my telephone number and house address, He came back into the office and said I could not have adsl installed as my house is 2-1/2 Km too far away from some sort of connection box, how Can 2-1/2 Km make that much difference ? , I am thinking that may be the guys just quoting some sort of fixed guide line regarding the distance away from the adsl connection box,

In my non technical way of looking at this, say if the adsl was installed at my house , but due to this extra 2-1/2 Km distance

I could not hope to get a standard connection speed, '' BUT'' the poor speed I could get was greater than my current 40Kbps

I would still gladly pay for the adsl set up , what do you think ....

  4. Hi , I too was diagnosed with a Hiatus Hernia , reflux Acid , soar throat and swallowing problems when I was back in Europe , then I moved to Thailand and began taking a high dose of

Nexium , to cut a very long story the Nexium eventually stopped working , so I researched my condition here in Thailand after seeing several Thai Doctors and came to the conclusion at that time

the best route was to have a Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication procedure . I contacted several well known Thai Hospitals about finding some one who was well trained in doing this specialized operation, The outcome of the Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication procedure depends 100 % on the surgeon having done as many procedures in the past as possible.

The fact was at the time I was searching for a skilled surgeon to carry out this procedure there was no one available in Thailand who was well versed in doing a Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication procedure , some said they had carried out the procedure while training abroad , as one Doctor told me , not many Thais require the procedure in Thailand. So I eventually

returned to Europe and found a skilled surgeon who's main field was doing Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication procedures, and had it done around four years ago .

It took about Ten months for the Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication procedure to fully start working , and now I only take 20 mg Omeprazole a day , and have a Six Monthly endoscope

just to check how things are doing , so far all seems to be Ok.

  5. Thanks ken, it looks as if its wait and see , I live only 1-1/2 hours away from korat and it would be great not to have to go into Bangkok every year to get a One year extension to my visa...

  11. HI lopburi, yes you right again, spoke to her in doors and its about a 1-1/2 hrs to get to Khroat from Soeng Sang , do you think once ive sent off my TM form to Bangkok Immigration on arrival at my new address , I could expect some one from Immigration to come and check us out, I thought about including a photo copy of our new rental agreement and a letter explaining the quick move ...? and put it in with the TM form...?

    Thanks again....

  12. Thanks again lopburi, so it should go like this..? I do my 90 Day reporting on Pattaya on the 22nd of June, still showing my current Pattaya address, Than when I arrive at my new address 8 day's later, send a Tm form to Bangkok Immigration reporting my move after my last report 8 days ago in Pattaya, and give them my new address..? how's that sound..? so it means ive reported my new address with in 24 hours as they will see the post ems date on the envlope..?

    Thanks again......

ps.. my new address will be in Soeng Sang I think its about 4 hours away from Khroat.

  13. Thanks, lopbury, ( I would strongly suggest you ask immigration rather than telling them) Yes you are right, in the past Ive found that asking them about your problem, can be the best way, but some times you get conflicting answers, I think they may just tell me as soon as I arrive at my new address,Then take a trip to Bangkok Immigration and inform them personaly..? ( as Far as I can see there's no Immigration Office in Khorat..? ) I do have a new rental contract for the new place, and my paper works all in order, I just want to keep within the rules !!.

but with the least hassel .

    Thanks .....

  14. I am Moving to the Khorat area soon, and normally do my 90 day Immigratiom reporting in Pattaya, my next report date is the 22 of June, and will be doing it in Pattaya, but I will be then changing address on the 1st of July , can I wait until my next 90 day reporting date, and then send a TM47 form etc to Bangkok Immigration by post, and put on the TM form my new Khroat address, or do I have to send a TM form to Bangkok Immigration as soon as I arrive at my new address..? showing them Ive moved , would this mean that some one would come from Immigration in Bangkok and check me out ( & Thai wife ) at our new address..?

    Thanks .......

  15. Thanks For the info Guy's, just one thought what If I move address say 5 day's after doing my 90 day reporting..? does this mean all I have to do is then post a new

"notification of addresss" form to Bangkok Immigration , from my new adderss with in 24 hours of moving in ..? letting Immigration know where ive moved to,

    Thanks........

  16. I am moving from Pattaya to a rented house in Khorat , ,while we have a house built in that area. as I am married to a Thai and over 50 years of age, I have a Support visa, which I have been re-newing / 90 day reoprting at Soi 8 in Pattaya for the past 3 years.

I was just wondering as I am now going to move away from my Pattaya address, to a temporary rented address while the house is built, and then move again into the new house. what would be the best thing to do about informing the Immigration where I am living..? . Ive just been issued with a new 1 year extension and will have to do the 90 day reporting , which I plan to do by post from the new rented temporay address, Could I inform the Immigration firstly of my move to the new rented address when I do the 90 day report by post to Bangkok..? , Then do the same when I move into the new house and advise the the Immigration yet again of a second change of address when doing the next 90 day reporting by post..? . " or " If I move into temporay rented accommodation while the new house is built, could I just go back to Pattaya and report every 90 day's and not say any thing about moving from the Pattaya area, Then when the house is built just Inform the Immigration that this is my new and permanent address when doing my first 90 days reporting from the new house address..?

Any Ideas to make all this a bit more easy would be appreciated.
