  1. I wish any of the factories would have tours - Nice to see how it is done. I would even pay to watch my new bike made and ride it off so to speak

I've always wanted to do that myself. Perhaps they could let you put the last bolt in your new bike as well. If Honda ever starts making big bikes here, maybe I could arrange a tour. Unless of course, it's all top secret.

I know my girlfriend has been on a Honda factory tour with some of her AP Honda salesteam clients so it can obviously be arranged.

  2. Just bought a cbr250r - love it to bits. But can anyone help with a query. I live near Ramintra road, anyone know where (preferably near) I can buy a decent motorcycle lock? Also, any advise on what make of lock would be best/available? Many thanks,

    J

Pandarider is near you and they sell the Xena alarmed disk locks for 1500 Baht. Go to Laksi roundabout and take the first left down Phahonyothin. The shop is not far down on the other side so you'll have to do a u-turn.

I'm aware of the minimal benefits of a full system on such a bike too. I think I read somewhere on the DBS site that some of the local slip ons would gain maybe 1-2 hp and the full sytems he usually makes aim for a 5-6hp gain. I couldn't find that though so I may have misremembered.

To be honest I have no problems with the performance of the bike, just the sound, look and size of the current exhaust. If the European slip ons were a third of the price I probably would just buy one but I figure if I'm going to spend money I might as well get a local full system as it might have added benefits.

I definitely think a decent air filter (and perhaps modding the box) would make the intake sound a little nicer.

p.s. Brian, it's "taking the piss" not "taking a piss". If this thread were about taking a piss though I think we could agree that some of the posters do it sitting down.

  4. My understanding of the general difference between a slip on and a full system(let's assume it's made by the same manufacturer) is that while the slip on might look good, sound good and be lighter than stock it won't achieve anywhere near the same performance increase as changing the whole pipe. From memory most of the European slip ons available show dynos of the full system and I know from reading the comments on the DBS website that he hasn't put a new slip on for the cbr 250 up for sale as it didn't increase horsepower at all.

  5. I reset my ECM yesterday on my CBR with the Remus Okami. I was skeptical at first, as I had also heard the the ECM would readjust itself. It has made a big difference. Before the reset it felt as if the the bike might have been running a bit lean at certain points. With the reset, the bike seems much smoother and consistantly powerful throughout the gear and RPM range. I took the bike out to Ratchapruek yesterday to test the top speed, but there was way to much traffic. I'll give it another go this Sunday and let you guys know how it goes.

We also did a reset on my wife's CBR with the Moriwaki slip-on and another bike with the Namban full system, with similar results.

I'll make a video and post it the next time we do an ECM reset. When I get into the shop tomorrow, I'll also list the pages in the CBR service book where it describes how to do it.

Sounds good. Can one of you confirm if this corrects the lack of mid range power with the Namban exhaust. At the moment I'm considering one of three full system exhausts:

    1. Namban

    2. Tsukigi

    3. DBS (when the full system is ready)

I hate the sound of the bike as it is (especially the rattle at 5-6k revs) and will definitely replace the exhaust for this reason but I don't want to get an exhaust I don't like the sound of or one that reduces performance for when I need it. I'm not too bothered if the build quality is not up to European standards because for a quarter of the price of a slip on I'll just buy a new one every year.

I'm especially interested in any reviews of the Tsukigi because at 4900 Baht I'd be happy to use it temporarily.

  6. That damned elusive Black CBR 250 with ABS :(

I think the National Transportation Museum has one on display! I have been getting more CBR 250s as of late, but sadly no black ABS models. We haven't forgotten you though, Withnail. We will let you know as soon as your bike arrives.

    Thanks :)

  7. Black and Silver were released in the first round back in December. Seriously doubt they'll be releasing different colour schemes for quite a while as the bikes haven't even been released in 90% of their markets yet.

Between all the regions the colours are black/silver, maroon/silver, gray/silver (Thailand) also available in other countries are an all black and tri-colour (white, red and blue).

With ref: to Faddy's muffler and downpipe:

It's made by the same factory where makes Endurance exhaust for CBR150R.

The muffler has a removable DB killer and NJT logo plate which is another brand for their racing team. The price is 6500THB/set.

Cheap, and not likely to last too long I'd imagine (Endurance).

I had the Faddy downpipe on my CBR150, but I took it off for good after the third welded joint failed. Buyer beware.

Same thing happened to me though it was cheap and easy to have every joint on the pipe rewelded. Their stuff all comes from different places though so it doesn't mean averything from them is bad.

Having said that I think I'd more likely wait for the DBS full system or better still a big brand pipe once they start making them (if the price is OK). Will probably leave my 250 as stock when i get it for a good while.

I'm hoping that they'll have similar adjustable levers to the ones I bought from them for the 150. I also liked the look of the rear sets (made by people who used to work for NUI racing apparently). I went and had a look at them and they looked pretty solid.

  8. There's a fairly simple search facility on the K&N website. http://www.knfilters.../appsearch.aspx

From looking at that it would seem they don't even exist yet but I guess you'd have to contact them direct to know for sure.

One thing is for sure, if they aren't on the website yet I can't imagine that they would have already been shipped to Thailand.

Went to the web site. They have OIL filter for 250, but no air filters for either bike.

It says ALL HONDA CBR250RR-N 250 - All

Is that definitely gonna be the same?

Also what's the benefit of a K&N oil filter? Are they not to be thrown away when you change the oil?

  9. Quick note:

Got an answer back from FastCorner. They still don't have K&N air filters for new 150 or 250 yet.

Anyone know who might have them?

  10. I can't get the visual of you on a Fino in full on safety gear out of my head. I used to feel the same when I would wear it on my PCX or even my old Airblade. It doesn't take much speed to do serious damage to yourself on any bike.

lol I didn't wear the jacket on the Fino more than once or twice.

  11. I've already put my thoughts about the 250 in the 250 thread. To be honest I've loved both the bikes I've had in Bangkok. I don't think any of the little bikes on the market now are unsuitable to be driven here. They all go fast enough really, it just depends what you're after at the time. My main issue with the Fino was that I want to be taken seriously and take riding a bike in Bangkok seriously and unfortunately the culture here says that gloves, a full-face helmet and protective gear don't suit the style of a Fino (even if you are going 80 and weaving between buses). I also wanted to get into riding a bike with a manual clutch and the CBR 150 has served its purpose in that respect. I can't really justify that the 250 is a necessary upgrade but I think it will also suit my purposes and I'll enjoy it.

I've liked modifying the bikes I've had (mainly cosmetically), learning about them and taking care of them and I think there's no harm in changing every couple of years. However economically viable, I have no desire to drive a 5 or 10 year old bike just cos it still goes. That's what put me off going for a second hand 400.

  12. Went to test drive the 250 today. Was very impressed with the power and the handling of the bike.

I'd always thought that the 150 was the perfect bike for Bangkok but now I'm thinking this is.

I test drove it during rush hour and so had an opportunity to follow the sonics weaving between the traffic and was pleasantly surprised at how well it managed. I know there's a slight increase in width but it was hardly noticable and the bike was almost as easy to twist around. The ABS seemed very effective though I think it would definitely from some better tyres.

The power was definitely noticable but I was suprised at how well it handled the lower speeds. If anything it seemed to like being driven around in first and second more than the old 150.
