  1. A new page has been turned in the history of Libya," a Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman, Jiang Yu, said yesterday. "We hope Libya will rapidly embark on an inclusive political process ... and allow the people to live in peace and happiness," she said.

A sign of the official policy change could be discerned in the language that Chinese state media used to refer to Colonel Gaddafi. Newspapers and agencies run by the state, which had previously referred to a "Middle East strongman", had yesterday made a small but significant change to their phrasing, calling him a "madman" instead.

In Moscow, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Geneva Conventions had been breached with the killing of Colonel Gaddafi.

Russian politician Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who is also the head of the World Chess Federation, said that Colonel Gaddafi's death was a "tragedy" but that he died as a martyr and would be reincarnated.

So I guess we know where the posters ideas are coming from.

OK chuck! So this time without the sarcasm that when past you!

  3. You folks that are bestowing honors on the man might think about trying to convince the family members of the 270 victims of Pan Am flight 103 and the citizens of Lockerbie, Scotland, what a good man he was.

It might be a hard sell.

Lockerbie was in the past (by the way, I was on the Pan Am flight the day before 103; it was Pan Am 101 and originated in Frankfurt and picked up passengers in London. The 103 flight went every other day and originated in London.) The US and Europe made peace with Gaddafi this past decade and he, in fact, joined them in fighting against Al Qaeda. Big mistake. The lesson from this episode, especially for the North Koreans and Iranians, is: you can never trust America and Europe. Decommission your weapons of mass destruction and NATO will turn on you in a second. Fact is: Gaddafi had the right to put down an armed rebellion in his country and the people in DC and Europe who had spent the last couple of years planning investments and telling him how good it was to be friends with him instead joined with the rebels, among whom are avowed terrorists. Nice job. Libya will drop from the list of advanced nations into a cesspool of America's and Europe's making.

You do realise that on 8th September 1969 Gaddafi overthrew King Idris of Libya in a military coup so at that time the King had the right to put down the rebellion in HIS country.

Therefore would it be reasonable to say that the NTC and the people of Libya had the same RIGHT to overthrow the Gaddafi government?

Yes!Try to but NOT with the help of the entire Nato airbombardment force and secret Nato forces on the ground! Right?

  4. Government spokeswoman Titima Chaisang told AFP the premier was referring to the overall flood situation in the country and not specifically in Bangkok.

    Another spokeswoman ( spokesperson) .

Wow that one brain cell possessed by the government must be getting pretty travel sick by now

Judging from your posts you have twice the braicells of the government. Must feel good!

PS! I have search the forum for a wayto ignore posters but to no avail. Is it possible and if so how?

  5. I'm also old, fat and out of shape; but while in Nonthaburi came across a sand bag filling operation. I parked, put on some gloves and worked as long as I could. It wasn't too long, but when I finished and donated a little cash too, the guy on the microphone mentioned my work and small donation. Everyone stopped working and gave a big round of applause.

Please do not tell me about Thai's not appreciating help.

And to the guy who talked about people getting in trouble during the Tsunami; I was younger and stronger and worked for months. When it came time to see immigration, I was celebrated and the fees waived.

I have never experienced the Thailand so many of you who are disheartened speak of. But I generally expect the best in Thais and generally find it.

EDIT! Now my friend tells me "mai me! have lotus extra!". Do you have a number on Srinikarind road?

  7. Surprising. I see foreigners helping everyday. Just here on TVF, there are some hardcore foreigners fighting tooth and nail to bring change to Thai politics by pointing out how incompetent the current Government is how this is all somehow linked to Taksin and/or this is part of his masterplan for personal enrichment. I see these foreigners blamestorming and coming up with an all in one solution of fixing everything from the economy to the floods by letting Abhisit run the country. Some others are helping by sending hopes and wishes that the floods inundate all the RED villages, because that is what they deserve and by wiping them out Thailand will have a better future.

You and I must roll in different circles, because I see on a daily basis how these foreign keyboard warriors vehemently champion for a better Thailand a quick fix for all their woes.

Saying foreigners do not do anything is simply wrong.

    +1 and LOL!

    Just my tought.

  8. i have been looking on line for a map that shows the areas that voted red in the last election and a map of the current flooded areas

i was interested to see if there was any correlation between the two areas

i know Thais have a saying that loosely means''if you give bad you get bad''

its something akin to the'' what goes around comes around ''

i know in England, we say ''the sun only shines on the righteous''

i wondered if that applied here............

And just how will Bangkok fit in your ideas? Not exactly a Red Village is it?

  9. My friend just came home from Lotus and many things are sold out! This is in the s of Bangkok and we can hardly have any flooding her but just the same I will turn the truck towards the gate tomorow morning. Not looking good!Tiger

  10. So much hatred for the redshirts and the way thai's are trying to live thier lives in thier country. What have the thais done to you people personally to breed such hatred? If you have such destest and hatred of the country and the people why are you here?

    +1

This is a democracy and we are guests here. They vote and we can like it or not. But the bottom line is: Leave if you you will!

I wish most of you would!
