  1. Hi Samtam- Thats odd because there is a very long (if slightly thin) lap pool. Its on the 6th row of pictures down on this link:

    http://www.theparkresidence.co.th/exterior.htm

Which shows the place completed and we have had our first juristic meeting. Have you seen these pictures?

We got what we were promised. Though I admit that for the moment The Address is an eyesore and will be so for maybe a year or two more. But from all indications The Address should be a stylish building, and compliment The Park.

A jungle effectivly surrounds the pool but realistically if you want that level of privacy your not going to get it in Bangkok. Even one of the Oriental's swimming pools (though not the main one below) is directly overlooked by The Bamboo Bar and The Veranda restaurant with the main walkway between all the Hotels facilities (Other restaurants and ferries access to the facilities on the opposite side of the river) in between the pool and the veranda/bamboo bar. Very oddly I get the distinct impression that some of those who have bought at The Park have a need to be seen to be seen - Hi-so and Hi-sor?

My omission, I can see there is a lap pool. You'll have to hope that not many choose to use it at the same time, and those who do, do not mind an audience. Personally I prefer to take my exercise without one. I agree the pool at the Oriental is ridiculous, but then I think it's a very overrated hotel, lost in some 70s time warp. I also pass on the "need to be seen" criteria, so it's just aswell I didn't buy and have to mix with all that pretension.

I have to admit that I'm a little bit envious of all the facilities you have at The Park, but yours is a rather more luxurious development than our more modest future residence across the road at The Address. Hopefully, now that the major part of the construction appears to be close to completion, we will not be an eyesore for too much longer. :o

  2. As promised an update on The Address.

The building is effectively a three sides of a square shape - unfortunately little imagination went into exploiting the klong and again the building does butt up against some boundaries but nowhere near to the same extent at The Manhattan.

The closest point to The Park is on the Chidlom tower but this seems to be tiered so the higher up the further away it is.

To be brutally frank there is an area (forecourt?) between The Park and The Address that IMO will sell the last units at The Address or leave them unsold. If this is proposed as a desert wasteland of tiles and cement it will be dreadful. However if it is planned as gardens (and I'm not sure if The Address actually adheres to building regulations in this respect either) it will be an asset to the area and a great investment. But I do not know enough about the development to comment further.

Thankyou for posting the pictures of The Address, it's good to see progress being made. I think I can actually see our future appartment in one of them. No longer just a dream, we have walls and windows!

I take your point about the proximity of The Address to The Park, but at least there is some separation and I think that there are many more examples of even worse crowded developments throughout Bangkok.

I hope at least that The Address will be finished to a high standard, especially in the communal areas, in keeping with that already set by The Park.

  3. We've just received notification of the latest update to The Park - you can see the new pictures for yourself! IMO, OMG!

We are out again in just over a week, so will be able to post some thoughts and impressions once we've seen the place in the flesh!

I already have a 'dedicated' book for the library!

It's really beautiful, both inside and out. I'm sure you will really enjoy living in your new home.

  4. I will be at The Park in about 8 weeks, so will report back more fully at that time, but I think we too are complete. Unfortunatly we are not local (yet) so rely on others for the latest updates (any news guys?).

I will take a picture or two of The Address views from The Park (and post them). Oddly When finished and illuminated at night The Address will be a stunning addition to the view from our apartment.

Thankyou pkrv. I look forward to seeing how construction is progressing at The Address.

    :o

  5. Hi admin 2337 - I agree work is very slow. I understand that this is due to the sheer number of contractors involved.

We too had a pre-inspection where we saw our unfinished unit (and other almost completed units) but that was so we could take some measurements for furnishing the place, not for transfer. Later on we did transfer even though the communal areas are not yet completed. This decision was based on our situation and the high standard of the completed work in our unit. However that said if anyone expects the exact same building standard as in the west they clearly need to rethink, and I think it has been a tough time to achieve what has been achieved.

Could I ask what floor you are on? we are on the first floor.

We are however prepared to wait for the highest quality to be delivered in the final product.

I believe it is important to note the status of other constructions that were initiated at the same time - it looks like they are all much on the same timescale for completion. The Park is still some way off.

There are a couple of others at The Park how goes it with you guys?

I was passing The Park a few days ago, looking at how they are getting on at The Address next door. I thought your building looks very impressive. Hope you spend many happy years there.

  6. Where are we on this little lot?

The Trendy is in the process of completing

The Park I can say is delayed - Although I have photos which are fab, they are a bit too personal to post here. I'm now thinking more November/December, but as I can see the situation, I am surer, especially as we will be one of the last to be physically finished.

Skytrain Makkasan terminal (near Petchaburiin station- thanks quicksilva) in progress

    Athenee?

Technical term - bugger - I forgot to say how are the Manhattan and The Address doing and the Sansiri? all in the same boat.

Just went for inspection on my two units at Manhattan Chidlom. I must say the condotel is really impressive, the lobby is fit to grace any 5 star hotel lobby. There is a doorman to greet you and a 24 hr conceirge to service you. The view is fantastic too. No need to pay an arm and a leg for my purchase, price is reasonable for that area. Fantastic!

The Address is somewhat behind you guys. I'm not expecting completion until sometime in 2009. I think they may be excavating the underground parking areas at the moment. I hope to take a look at progress this Christmas.

  7. In an article published in the Bangkok Post on May 17th about the plans for Asian Property Development Plc to spend 800 million baht on three or four land plots for middle-and high-end condominiums and middle- to high-end townhouses, chief executive Anuphong Asavabhokin commented about The Address:

"The Address Chidlom, a high-end condominium worth three billion baht launched in the first quarter, is already 60% sold while three Life condominiums are 50% sold."
