For monthly income for new visa.

The letter from the bank needs to state what exactly?

Thank you for your reply. My son said there was an immigration officer when he went through. This was more then a year ago though. It was noticed when they did a home visit about a week ago. They said they can do it at Kap Chong.

My son went to the USA. for a vacation. He has a Thai passport and a USA passport ( dual nationality ). Upon leaving they stamped his Thai passport, but upon re-entry Thai Immigration did not stamp it. Is this normal? Or does he need to get it stamped?

Is the yellow book good enough for proof of address? what form needs to be filled out for applying for retirement via?
I am switching from Thai wife visa to retirement visa, because I believe it's easier for all. I'm aware of the financial requirements and can meet them.

The people that manufacture and control the uniform business wouldn't like that very much.

Thank you very much for your responses. Previously I had 400,000 in the bank just for this purpose, but if I get an income letter from my embassy showing I have at least 65,000 Bath every month, I will not need a letter from the Bank also. The proof of income from the embassy is still only good for 15 days ?

I have been doing a non-o-married visa for 11 years. It's always a hassle with all the paperwork.
So now I'm thinking of changing over to retirement visa. What does this involve, and is this an easier route with less hassles? I'm a USA. citizen.

"... though he might need some good advice when the national service lottery comes around his way."
Better he plans ahead, not wait until then.
Take the classes in high school that will exempt him from the lottery.
My son now claims that these kids have to go into the drawing anyways.

Thank you for your replies.

Where in Korat do I go, to get new Thai passports for the wife and son.

He is going to do the junior military program at his High School, which will satisfy the military requirement here in Thailand.
He has no intention of giving up either citizenship.

My son has dual nationality. He was born in the USA, but we moved here when he was 3yrs. old. He is now 14.
When he was born we went to the Thai Embassy and got him a Thai birth certificate. He has both a US and Thai passports. I have met quite a few Thais who have dual nationality, but I have been told that he can have only one. There are people such as Abhisit who has dual nationality. So what is the true story on this.

Thank you for the replies.

I'm getting a new passport, and I will need to transfer my visa onto it. How much does it cost, and what do I need. Also I hope it comes before my 90 day reporting date. How many days can I be late for that. Hate to have to make more then one trip.

CAT and TRUE are now in bed together. I believe the reason for the caps (future cap for CAT) on their service is due that TRUE does not want you downloading torrents because they want you to pay for their TV service. I will also be looking for an alternative to CAT, but I also live out of town in the same way as PORMAX. I spoke with the people at CAT to find out the changes and they said that you can turn in your current aircard and they will give you a new one which can also be connected to your directional entenna.
There was no mention of charging 1Baht/Min. As to how long the current service will last, they said until the signal stops.

Ok, thank you everyone.

When money is transfered into your Thai Bank Account from overseas, it has a code in the bank book.
I am with Bangkok Bank, and when I did it this way years ago, the bank would give me a letter (100 or 200 Baht) showing that. I never had to go to the Embassy. Now I just keep the required amount, but he cannot afford to do that. Of course it might have changed. Also the bank doesn't know what he is talking about.

My friend needs to show proof of income. He has his funds directly deposited into a Thai bank monthly from abroad. If I recall correctly, he should be able to go to his bank and get a statement showing these deposits from abroad. What is this income statement called in Thai? This would save him a trip to Bangkok in order to get a letter from his embassy. He has a visa based on him supporting his 2 children.

Is this a new law in Thailand? I was very surprised at not being able to have a beer with my meal.

Hi RBH, thanks for the links, but there isn't much info in them.
