  1. BANGKOK: -- The Cabinet has approved new regulations that prohibit karaoke parlours from providing drinking or singing partners to customers, with their business licences being revoked if they do.

Great night out no booze, no one to sing with should be a hit with everyone wanting to spend a night out

  2. Thanks guys,my g/f has no job or property to go back to but i have financially supported her for the past two years and have all

the documents to support our relationship..

Q18 asks if her sister is a permanent resident or citizen yes/no?,ive put yes?

NO she has been there less than two years.

You get a resident visa after you have been living in australia for two years. meaning you have to support G/F for two years then she is oked for resident visa and can then get free medical and access to our social security.

The two years start counting the day she submits her application if in aust.

once she has paid the fee she can go backwards and forwards between aust and thailand as much as she likes.

But will not get resident approval until she has done the two year stay in aust 365 x 2 days = two years

  3. Well I am a smoker and a drinker more of a smoker when i drink. cosidering the prices in our home countries for booze and ciggies thailand is cheap for both.

The thai on the other hand will suffer which will lead to dramas right through the communities.

The so called interim gov can pass what they like and raise what ever taxes they like.

And spend most of their time rooting out corruption and finger pointing at past leaders and pollies.

Instead of doing what is required setting up policies to enhance thai future.

In the mean time pull your pants down lay on the ground and accept the bike parked between the cheeks of your blurter.

As much as this country need leadership and honesty it wont happen just hope the bikes being parked in our nether regions dont have wide wheels.

  4. regardless of the ferry sinking foreign government respond to these happenings Australian authorities have responded immeditally

    From the Australian Government

Ferry travel in Thailand can be dangerous, as vessel passenger limits are not always observed or sufficient life jackets provided. In January and February 2005, ferry accidents killed and injured a number of people, including tourists. A number of Australians were also affected when a ferry caught fire and sank in April 2007.

  5. visa office for embassy is a thai hate club.Any one wanting to leave thailand is on their shit list anmd if they can roll you over they will

you can always go and see your local federal member (election coming up) and get him to appeal to the minister of immigration regarding the matter. also mention you feel you are being discriminated against.

you appear to meet all the criteria even offering monetry support and a place to stay. Its a two week stay not 3months

regardless of what relationships you have had before there is not anything about how many you can have in the immigration act. A stat dec should have accompanied your application always do one its a legal document and has to be accepted on face value. cant be argued with.

I stuck it to them when they refused my girls application

  6. my mate brought his defacto over with him on a 12 month visa his son got aussie passport by right of birth father is an aussie been in thai 16 years.

he applied for perm residency for her, price had gone up to $1950 went up in january

from the date of the application 2 years she needs full time in aust. to gain residency visa

but she can go backwards and forwards to and from thailand no visa required, for as long as she likes

Its easier to apply in aust and if you want bridging visas are easy to get they take 3 months to process they are slack here

i have been down this road and let me tell you you are in for some fun in the visa office in bangkok.

in the door and some thai yells turn of your mobile phone. the whole office is staffed by thais. not an aussie in site.

they hate you the moment you walk in.

3 years ago i brought my g/f out 3 monthsvisa that was a drama.

    reason to visit

30,000 baht in her bank account.(bullcrap)

letter from her employer as to where she worked. (bullcrap)

    plane ticket

copy of id card passport, fist full of paperwork.told to come back in 3 days

I had to provide, letter of invite, copy of funds in a bank, car lic, passport, all to be phostated and signed by a justice of the peace (notorized)

she got 3 month visa but spent 3 hours having an interview and was spoken to like a pig.

12 months later when i got married in thailand she applied for another visa to come to aust

back to visa office in bangkok same paperwork DRAMA untold even though she had previous trip over,

wife had travelled from udon thani expection a three day stay.

6 days and still mucking her around asking for thai translations of paperwork. Same type of paperwork as before but fresh. Wife rings me crying and upset.

So losing my mind i picked up the phone and rang embassy in canberra.

    reciptionist.hello

me: Who do i speak to in regards a serious breach of australian law in the thailand embassy.

new gal, may i help you.

me: strangley no. this matter needs to be delt with by a supervisor regarding breaches of aussie law in the thailand embassy.

    Newer gal, hello.

me:Good afternoon my name is """""" may i ask your position with in the department of immigration and your name

    Identifies who she is.

I have a problem you may be able to help me with in regards to several breechs of the immigration act happening right now and i am not happy, its up to you if you still want to deal with this problem or pass it to someome higher up the food chain.

as i am obout to get of this phone after i Tell you my problem and drive into the brisbane supreme court where i intend to spend $125 and issue two writs of habeas corpus (show cause warrant) for the minister of immigration and a seperate writ for the high commissioner of the bangkok embassy, inviting along all the press for a show and tell as to what is going on over in the aust embassy and does the general know?

    Well i had her attention

so after asking why my wife had to show 30,000 in a bank acout not in the immigration act

no requirement for me to produce bank statements not in immigration act,

why wife waiting 6 days, why rude and so on. and why is visa office staffed only by thais no ausie in office

newer gal: can i call you back in one hour i need to ring bangkok.

    ok

phone rings back: i wish to advise you your wifes visa has been approved we have spoken to your wife and advised her of the approval her passport and visa and being couried to her.

    Thank you.

Wife got 6 month visa and not stamped no further.

I got shirty and had a victory

the immigration prefer you saying holiday travel see the country very important also where you want to go,also that you will be responsible for all medical bills if she needs, also where staying when in aust and you saying you will be responsible for her living expenses and she will leave the country as you are really her sponsor.

Brisbane best place to get visa for thailand ao marriage retimement and 90 day ones

  8. ......

and given 12 month non immigrant OA visa (marriage visa)

no mention of money, told i could go in and out as many times as I like in 12 months.

also told didnt have to do visa runs, Just go to local police station as i live north of udon thani and get them to sign and sight me and send paper work to immigration with reply envelope that is my 3 monthly reporting.

Told at end on 12 months re apply showing income of 600,000 baht at bangkok

    too easy

but who knows things change on daily basis in thailand

    How old are you?

I am confused as to what visa you actually have because:-

    1. If you have a non-o based on marriage you must do 90 day visa runs, only a non-oa (retirement) visa avoids these.
    2. An income of 600,000 suits neither a retirement extension (800,000 in the bank or 65,000 per month income) or a marriage extension (40,000 per month income).

What does your visa state in the 'number of entries' box.

When you arrive please check the 'permitted to stay' stamp that immigration put in your passport, do not remain in Thailand past that date or you are on overstay (no matter what anyone else says).

55 years i didnt apply for retirement visa, states multiple journeys cat 0 use before 8 june 08 signed by vice consular general she served me, will check what immigration puts on passport in morning. intend to do retirement visa later have a few trips to do back to aus anyway.

  9. I'm a US citizen, age 37, have spent most of the past 3 years in Thailand using 'visa runs', and last year married my Thai girlfriend. I have spent the last 6 months working in the US and am planning to return to Thailand shortly, trying to plan a long stay of up to a year.

I have enough to live on but am not able to meet the B40,000 p/m income requirement. Therefore, what my research seems to tell me is that my best option for a long stay is a multiple-entry non-immigrant 'O' visa, of the type which requires me to leave and re-enter Thailand every 90 days. My wife recently confirmed with a UK citizen (also married to a Thai) that he has obtained this type of visa, which only required him to sign an affirmation on the application that he had adequate means of support. (It seems to me that the other way, which does require the income proof, is to enter on a 90-day non-Imm 'O' and then apply for the one-year extension...?)

But the discussion in this forum and elsewhere has left me very confused. So, straight and simple, does this category truly exist? Is it easily obtained from any Thai consulate in the US? (Los Angeles would be my first option).

If this is true, then one more question - do I need to have advance tickets booked for outgoing travel for each future entry period, before I apply?

    thanks.

i fly tonight out of brisbane.

I rang consulate told to take the following

    my passport

copy of wifes passport or thai id card

    copy of marriage certificate

    copy of house papers

letter from wife inviting me to come to thailand saying we are married and my purpose coming over was to support her at her family home.
