  1. Which is the best way to get to Koh Chang from Bangkok?

    VIP Bus?

    Where do they leave from?

    Thanks

If you stay in BKK i think a good value is to book a minibus. They pick you up at the hotel in the morning and take you to your destination on Koh Chang. I used a company called Seahorse last time, travel took about 6 hours. Price was 700 b (including ferry) in Oct 2010.

Bangkok airways also have flights to Trat and from there you can continue by minibus to Koh Chang. Save some time but cost much more.

  2. They still do the 4 island snorkeling tour, but the advertised prices is now 950 baht. I did it for 450 baht but this was like 7 years ago so I am afraid you have to be prepared to pay a little more.

950 baht? Maybe that is from a different company. We paid 500 baht last year and the year before. They advertise it at 600 baht but we always find a discounted rate somewhere. Could it really have gone up that much in a single year? Still worth it, but quite an increase.

Must have been a different company, I just read the ad outside the shop (Jan this year), never booked the trip. Seams like you could save some hundreds of baht if you do your work and shop around like you did.

  3. P.S. I am paying 10,000 per month for a large one bedroom fully furnished apartment with full kitchen, a/c, wifi, TV, hot shower ensuite, etc. in Kai Bea. Koh Chang Residence... the owner is Mo.

I am usually staying on Kai Bae, where are the apartments located? Can't remember I have seen a place called Koh Chang Residence. Could you please help me with contact details to Mo, or link to web page. Because it's sounds like a place that I could be interested in renting next time I go there. Thanks.

  4. First time there I'd stay in the White Sand Beach area. Lots of very nice beach front bungalows in your price range. A few days of exploring the Island you might want something quieter if that is what you like, or you just might stay there. It is a busier area and it has coffee shops, 711's and the like. We've stayed other places but some are just too dead. Make sure you take the 4 island snorkeling tour if that is still running. It's a steal for 500 baht with all the food they feed you with. Hit the evening beach meals.... I'm missing the Pomfret Butter Fish already!

  5. Anyone that have experience of working in the tourism/travel industry in SE Asia. Maybe you have some advice to give me? What about the job opportunities and what experience/skills do you need? Is there any good universities in Thailand for tourism studies?

I have a bachelor degree in B.A, but want to change job and I´m  plannig to study tourism. I have travelled a lot and SE Asia is the place I like most. And it would be very nice if you also could work there. I more intrested in working with "adventure" tourism rather than hotel management.

  6. Is it worth thinking of buying a guesthouse or small hotel or will you only loose your money or the property? Is it possible to get a work permit for such a business?

Is the minimum start capital always 2 million bath if you want to start a company, and is´t ok if the amount is invested in the company or do you need to have it on your bank account??
