  1. Isn't it the way? Most amulet seller thought by using the word "rent" they are not selling the amulet. Some collector too, thinking by using the word rent they are not BUYING the amulet.. As long as money is involve, what do we call it? It's just an excuse for them to make money.

  2. Police say fake monks from Thailand preying on Singaporeans

SINGAPORE: -- Bogus monks and nuns from Thailand have been collecting alms from Singaporeans and evading police by making speedy getaways, The Sunday Times reported.

Numbering as many as 100, they take refuge in a four-storey hotel in the red-light district of Geyland.

Arriving on social visit passes, they do religious robes in the morning and make their rounds, the newspaper said. Many then shed their robes and emerge in civilian clothing, heading for nearby coffee shops.

A large group made a quick exit after police were seen near their lodgings. After exchanging Singapore currency for Thai baht, they boarded coaches headed for Malaysia.

You won't believe it. They actually ask for money. Unlike real monks, they will not walk around asking for money donation. They will stand still waiting for people to offer them donation.. any forms. And for all i know, the real monks will stand as far as they can when there are ladies around. Whereas the bogus monks, they are just not bother.

  3. I still maintain that NOT ALL monks are like that. There are always black sheeps around. We can't stop them since nobody in the higher authority is doing anything. At the same time, we shouldn't deny the fact that there are genuine monks who is doing all the good deeds too.

  4. Frankly, In Spore, sometime we will see monks/nun carry their alms bowl asking for donation. I usually will just walk off. It's not right for them to ask for money. In thailand, all we do was giving them food and not money. Monks should not beg for money. Sad to say, there is always black sheep walking around. As for smoking wise, indeed many monks does smoke, some choose to eat betal nut instead.

  5. I would like to see if anyone out there can help me to identify where does this monk come from. I know he is from Surin Province, I know by translation his name is Luang Phor Urk, I would like to have more information of him. Pls help! :o
