  1. Use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-Revere-Ware-Stovetop-Percolator-Copper-Clad-Coffee-Maker-6-Cup-/161200861706

It's a upgraded version of the one my grandfather used and if he ever caught anybody "cleaning" it other than rinsing it out you were in a WOS!

For many years I have used that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moka_pot (the largest named "Junior"), but there is no crema sad.png so I bought the Fagor.

The question is how to clean the fully automatic coffee maker by myself or better where can buy the tabs in Thailand for a reasonable price.

  2. You need to service the machine every three to six months

No way. 3-6 months. Descale and deep clean is all that is necessary with a quality machine. Perhaps serviced every 1 year or 2. The modern machines from the likes of Gaggia or Jura do not require that service interval.

Up to you, chap. An espresso machine and a grinder are big investments and deserve proper care.

Perhaps you don't make coffee often. Our restaurant machines need to be serviced much more frequently than you suggest. Failure to do it results in poor quality drinks and extra wear and tear. Proper servicing can also avoid down time by dealing with an issue in time.

    That´s the point : Maintenance !

For this topic I have opened a seperate thread :

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/698798-how-do-you-maintain-your-coffee-machine-fully-automatic/

  3. Each one who operates a fully automatic coffee machine should know it has to be cleaned and decalcified in certain cycles otherwise repairs are necessary faster.

Unfortunately in Thailand it seems to be not so easy to buy cleaning tablets and if you get that, these are not inexpensive.

For my Fagor machine they offered 2 tabs for THB 500.- (incl. shipping from BKK).

    Yes 2 tabs not 2 packs w00t.gif

How do you solve this problem ?

  4. ..............

Can you say what was the illness?

    Thanks for the update.

Please have understanding for I do not want to spread on the Internet more details about Gerd's last year.

Who actually knew him personally send PM to me and I will tell him my phone number for can get further informations.

  5. For me, the saddest part is knowing that he had been 'in difficulties' for such a long time, yet most of us were unaware.

I hadn't contacted Gerd since I went to work in Myanmar in April 2012. Never even thought that he might be ill sad.png

    Simon

Gerd has not liked to talk about his problems.

Therefore, I only found out a few months later by its request for support from the actual situation.

Unable to work, without permit to stay in Thailand and without income as we all know he would have had no chance in Thailand, which is why I suggested to him to return to Germany.

It was the only chance he had and he knew it.

Tragic that he died for all so quickly and unexpectedly as a complete surprise, because after the treatments he had received in German hospitals it went to him, at least physically much better than with his departure from Thailand.

Although he had contact with his German family again and spent Christmas 2013 there, he has Thailand greatly missed.

In memory of our first meeting in 2007 a photo of the Thai Visa BBQ in the appendix.

  6. It was me who informed George about Gerd has passed away.

Gerd was a very good friend.

The first time I met him was at Thaivisa Forum BBQ in Kata (Ratri Jazztaurant) a couple of years ago.

After he worked for Pacco (Phuket Airport Catering), he was GM of Jagota / Phuket, then worked for Bavarian Sausage Company / Phuket (bankrupt) and at last for Farang Food Paradise.

His condition deteriorated so that he can´t work anymore and he asked me for help, because of he had long time overstay already.

I´ve contacted the German TV and with the help of the German TV I was able to bring him to Frankfurt in February 2013, where some German social institutions took care for him.

On January 09.2014 I tried to call him in Frankfurt and was informed that he has succumbed to his illness on January 02.2014.

The funeral will take place on 29 January in Kassel / Germany where he was born.

After I have informed the German TV station about his death they decided not to show the report about his return to Germany in TV.

His Rottweiler "Max" died some weeks before he left Thailand (cancer) and the Boxer "Puean" died after traveled together with his girlfriend to Bangkok (circulatory failure).

The other Rottweiler "Lady" is still alive and stays in Bangkok.

His girlfriend now runs a small shop in Bangkok.

A very, very sad story sad.png

Thank´s to all for your sympathy.

    Update :

MITYON PATTAYA at least is definitly an authorised Honda dealer.

Surprising that on your invoice not even a Yamaha logo can be found

Name and address is from Mityon.

Someone can exclude the possibility that several firms operating in the same sale rooms whistling.gif ?

Anyway they need a new printer ......

The company named "United Commercial Phuket" from where my friend has bought these spare parts and received the invoice with Honda logo but without VAT is listed on the AP-Honda homepage.

May be in Thailand are tax regulations like in Germany which are saying that an invoice with a value under € 150.- don´t has to show VAT separatly.

  8. Never buy anywhere else than a dealer of the brand, you are absolutely right!!!

Did it once, and when rea lproblems emerged ,more than an oil change oir changing a brake pad, i had 6 months of trouble, listening to lies, not getting anything fixed and in the end no warranty at all.

I posted a story at the mototrbike forum about this Yamaha bike.

Oh yeah the company i bought from was PS LEASING in Buriram city.

For those living there, Stay away from this shop

If some small warranty complaints occur, an unauthorised dealer will probably fix this too for free, but what would happen if the engine must be repaired or replaced ?

An other way to ensure you have contacted an authorised dealer / mechanic is to buy any small spare part there an regard the invoice.

An invoice ot an authorised Honda dealer should look like that in the attachment.

I have bought many parts from Mityon Honda in Pattaya and never received a receipt that looks like that!

"Welcome to MITYON PATTAYA , the best-known and largest multi-branded motorcycle dealer in Pattaya, Sattahip, Sriracha and Rayong. We are authorized dealer of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. At Mityon, we provide you not only a great range of new and used motorcycles but also after-sales service to make sure you can enjoy riding.

Also, at Mityon, you could find great varieties of motorcycle products such as genuine parts, official accessories, apparels, helmets, bike care products and best selling imported items. To find what you are looking for, please visit us at a shop near you."

Seems to be a very large dealer with multi-authorisation. Do you have one of their dealer ID´s.

That doesn´t mean that they haven´t but anyone know one of these ID´s whistling.gif

Here http://www.aphonda.co.th/honda2012/aphonda-dealer.asp is the official Honda dealer register (form Ap Honda). Unfortunatelly in Thai only. May be someone can find Mityon Pattaya there and in this way could check this tool for verifying official dealer ships.

  9. I only know from his accident in June 2013 in Patong - what happened ?

2am this morning on Chaofa west, collided with a taxi

  11. Proof of residence,(lettet form immigration), Passport. money, driving licence if you just want the same license.

Picture taken for licence all cheap as chips.

If you don't have a bike licence from your own country you have to do the test. IT's very very easy morning job drive motorbike around cones, stop on slight hill, finished. Answer questions on highway code.

If you fail do it the next week.

For register a motorbike in your name only you don´t need to have any driving licence.

  12. The lie of omission and misrepresentation. I always thought all the shops were official dealers. The signage, staff uniforms, official looking

display cases with catalogues and pamphlets. Thats not to say I would not buy from one of these places but I would prefer an official

dealer. I would like to know which are as I have always had my vehicles dealer serviced. Thanks for the heads up.

That´s exactly what I mean too.

If you could save money like if you buy a re-imported Audi in Germany, then can think about buying from such a dealer, but why should a customer buy from an unauthorized dealer if he only has disadvantages ?

    My recommendation :

If you buy a new motorbike, bring your motorbike which is still in warranty for service or made services already and you are not 100% sure the dealer/mechanic is certified by the trade mark for sell and/or service, call the customer hotline and ask them.

After that you can decide where to buy, where to bring the bike for services or if you want to complain e.g. because of you have lost your warranty because the service was made by an unauthorizised mechanic already.

  13. Years ago Honda didn't have a rule about independent dealers putting signage up like the one in your pic. Three years ago this changed though and it now not allowed. This is either a sub dealer for an authorized dealer or an old independent dealer who hasn't bothered to change his signage.

    That´s it !

This company is existing since more than 20 years and I am quite sure too that they were authorised in the past but now definitely not and they are also no sub dealer.

They buy the bikes from almost everywhere in Thailand (my bike was originaly delivered to "RideIt" in Bangkok, registered from them in Bangkok in the name of Bangkok Motorcycles Phuket which isn´t a sub branch of them.

After that Bangkok Motorcycles Phuket registered my bike in my name in Phuket.

The information about the original dealer of my bike is as far as I can believe the information AP Honda gave me for this bike a fact.

Even the authorised dealers on Phuket are suppliers of Bangkok Motorcycles Phuket.

  14. a lot of bike shops use fake or copied parts (very substandard) but the locals don't mind it because the cost is much lower and also the mechanics are not to industry standards especially for new bike engine maintenances.

Also the mind of the locals regarding quality is changing.

I personally wouldn't choose to buy from a bogus store but again its a choice, perhaps the store(s) may have

some special in-house credit plans for their buyers to purchase the bike. (acknowledging the consequences of

failing to make payments will result in repossession of bike)

100% agree - it´s a choice but the customer has to be informed about these issues before buying otherwise it wasn´t a choice but cheating.

  15. How do these dealers buy at a cheaper price? Is it because they buy in bulk?

When I was shopping for a motorbike a Thai friend told me that some dealers not just buy in bulk, its buy in lower prices bikes that are in the way to change looks because new models are coming. If the price is really a LOT lower, and comes with factory warranty, makes sense to buy from those dealers. Requires to shopping around and compares.

If the bike will show previous owner, even the dealer's, my concern will be if the bike is really new or a bank repo. Thais are masters in detailing and restoration, and it is not illegal changing the odometer reading......

You´re write with these concerns but that bike I have bought there is 100% new, no one drive it before etc. but now there is a pre-owner in the book and if I want to sell it, may be the person is interested in buying will think like you.

I like to buy old models before getting facelifts or something like that, because of these models mostly are better than new models and also cheaper because of the dealer wants to clear the stock.

The point is the factory warranty what is lost if you bring your bike to an unauthorised mechanic for service.

  16. Bagsida, I guess this isn't problem at all, and you don't loose anything when you sale your bike. If this vehicle is a bmw or fortuner, may be, but on scooter ....don't think.

May be your´re write but the point is that they had no authorisation from the legal owner to register a fully paid motorbike on their name first.

All Thai people heard from this case aggreed that if they would buy a new motorbike (or car) by cash they also not want to have a pre-owner in the book.

A different situation could be if the customer buy by credit.

  17. Why would ap honda or any other mfg care who resells their bikes?

Reputation due to consistency of customer service etc.

As long as whoever you are buying from doesnt claim to be a dealer then no harm no foul....Shops such as Red Baron, pattaya super bikes etc have been saving customers money for years....

These shops effectively ARE claiming to be official dealers. Most countries have laws to counter the practice.

Listen you are making accusations that these companies are claiming something which they're not>>> It wont take long before a mod deletes your post for slander....I have been to these shops and they make no such claim to be a authorized dealer....

He only wrote that these shops are claiming to be official dealer of ???

    Not more.

I don´t know these dealers in Pattaya etc. and may be they are authorised dealers of trademarks or not, but if any dealer awakens the apparent to be an official dealer of a trade mark through its advertising occurs but hasn´t such a license and latest doesn´t make this fact clear in the sale talk in my view this would be illegal.

Exactly that happened to me and this I can prove !
