  1. It's obviously a True problem. So sites will connect but no content comes through. Then set my VPN to Closest Locations (Thailand / Singapore) and it loads immediately.

Yes, VPN is the best solution to work around True's crappy servers.

They use transparent proxies, that's the main reason for all the failures which go on for years. But even if you use their official proxy, it is on/off, never works more than a few days.

  2. The land of smiles, mai pen rai and everything will be OK is a big myth. Violence in Thailand is nothing new. People kick dogs for fun every day, yell at each other on a regular basis and their TV shows are full of shooting, cheating, lying, bitching and killing.

There are some wonderful people in Thailand, and I love living here. But for sure, there is more violence here than back home, although it's hardly peaceful there on a Friday or Saturday night. Different levels and reasons for violence.

    Exactly.

This country is very immature and has very limited means of conflict solution other than violence.

People getting killed over a 100 Baht taxi fare, women dismembering their boyfriends, the constant shouting and throwing things in TV soap operas, the coward revenge cases for "losing face", the thousands killed in the South, some of the highest murder rate in the world and so on.

It will take generations until Thailand would resemble a civil democratic state.

  3. Why would any westerner want a tuk tuk or samlor? Pray, do tell. To show everyone how Thai they are? Maybe to be the laughing stock of the village and provide bannok Thais with hours of entertainment?

Because it has a roof. On your Superbike you get wet.

  4. I'm certainly not in the loadsa money bracket, just comfortable

I would rent in Thailand, I would not buy. I am not naïve and have spent enough time over there not to fall for the honey trap tricks. In fact I find them quite amusing

That's quite reasonable, then why not just do the move, what do you risk? You can always move back or elsewhere.

Your monthly income is sufficient for a proper life here. But you should calculate inflation into your budget. You may have another 45 years to live on your income/assets, therefore you have to keep your capital and even increase it. Do some serious research on managing your finances!

  5. Yes, Its good to screen forcriminals (Every white man in Asia must be a pedo). However, if you happen to have racey pics of your 22 year old Thai gf and some affirmative action DHS employee decides she looks 15, your life is basically over, even if your cleared.

Most thai girls of 22 years look like 15 in the eyes of feminist haters. Be prepared of a growing persecution of white heterosexual males.

  6. welcome to our country, you are welcome to spend all your money, use it to build up a business, live here for the rest of your life, marry a thai person but you are not allowed to have an opinion different from ours.

    Nonsense.

You are allowed your opinion, but you are not allowed to block people from going to their work, block people from doing their business, blocking roads and other violent means of disturbing public life.

They demand that you behave like a decent human being. Rightfully so.
