Why on earth are they calling this phenomenon a 'flash' flood. It sounds like areas along the river are subject to possible flooding, but there is nothing 'flash' about it.

If it rises really quickly then it would probably be considered a flash flood.

I agree with you, tijnebijn! The revellers have started dancing and drinking (and very loud karaoke singing/yelling) across my apartment building since 7am this morning! And they are motorcycle taxi drivers mostly too. Not going anywhere til this madness is over I suppose.

Boxing myself at home only to come out for food. Will be enjoying the silliness from the bacony, however. Maybe pour some water over the local karaoke "singers" that seem to have started drinking from 10am today. Might come out after dark after they have shut off the water at my favorite club.

Usually you're not allowed to use the mobile phones during take off and landing only. That interrupts with signals from the air-tower. But you ARE allowed to use it while flying. Not that much of a signal can reach anyone up that high in any case.
