Most interesting for me as an European are the remarks of the Pro-Trump guys!
Maybe you should be more pro American.

Sorry guys - but who cares?! I am not a bar or hotel owner, I don`t run a restaurant, I do not depend on any tourist!
On the contrary - I am happy about every tourist that is not coming.

Sorry guys,
just saw that I didn`t tell you the end of the story.
1. I had to pay the bill, otherwise they would cut the water supply. (I could not stop the bank transfer anyway, within a week)
2. 5 Guys came and could not find a proplem leak, defect water meter etc.
3. I insisted on changing the meter on my cost
4. No problem since then
Adds up to my overall picture of thai excellence

Me again, just checked again, 2 unit = 2.000 litre used today with taking two showers.(8.30 am to 10.30 pm).
I can't see the clock moving when all tabs are closed.
Btw, we have a company taking care of the house, (weekly gardener,
pool boy, cleaner). No running toilet.
Tomorrow they will check again.
450.000 litres will be enough filling my pool x 16 times! I don't think it's possible to use /loose this much water without flooding our mini Soi !
Thx to all

Hello all,
We are living in Europe 10 months a year and came back to Huay Yai two days ago. Yesterday we got our waterbill for the period April 8th to May 8th, unbelivable 450 units for 12.498,67 baht! Normaly we will use 40 units in average. From 8th of May until yesterday we have allready another 80 units on the clock, I checked the meter - seems okay, no leaks anywhere.
As we normaly deduct from BKK bank, we stopped this, but it will not help longtime. Pattaya waterworks are not willing to discuss this matter. WHAT CAN WE DO? Any ideas?
Thx Munich
PS - Changing the meter was the first thing on my mind, but then...

Last week this shop tried to charge me 30.000 ++ baht for a mai deng garden door with some carvings. Initially we spoke about 20.000 all inkl.
We now bought on Sukhumvit direction Sathahip, 200 m behind Homepro.
They also have teak doors. -
Newnative, thx for your feedback. Checking Lumpini Park on the net, I just find the location worth a look. 32 sqm with seperate bedroom seem to be a shoebox. I think I will stick to an older condo projekt with arround 40m sqm for arround 1,8 and spend 200 k for renovation. But you are right, - location is the first point to consider. On the other side I bought a big house in Huay Yai with pool that would cost me triple in Jomtien between seaside and Sukhumvit. 15 min. drive is okay for me.
I will post some photos and tell you about my condo hunting soon.

Thx to all,
Thenonl reason for buying something in Jomtien/Pattaya is our house in Jomtien that we want to use as a retirement base, so taking care of a condo in another city wont give you a headache.
We have been living on BKK before and we loved it - but prices had been exploding.
As we do not plan to live in the new condo, I consider a studio the better option as it makes the condo look bigger.
I will also try to buy on a higher floor to avoid the noise from pool.
As negative comments about lalana condos are adding up, I will visit Park Lane on my next visit.
Anybody has an idea about the running costs in Park Lane?
Again thx to all

Hi to all,
We (my wife) have bought some property in Thailan in the past and are looking forward to purchase another condo in Jomtien (where we also have a house). We would like to spent up to 2 Mill. Not more.
After checking I see Park Lane or Lalana as my favorites.
Is anybody of you living in one of these properties and can give me some input?!
We are not thinking of renting it out at the moment, just fed up with 0 percent interest rate on my bank account in Germany. Maybe we keep it for some visitors/friends/family.
Thx

With our house we also bought a 1,7 m giant clay vase (amphora) in the garden.
Does anybody have an idea what usefull things I could do with it?
As the top opening is just 20 cm, I doubt that something might grow in it.
Any idea?
Thx

Hi,
I had the same problem when beeing posted abroad for a year.
Thousands of flies in my bathroom, everything was covered with this flies 1 cm high!!
I found out that this flies lay eggs in the dirt of the wash bassin pipes if you don't use them or flush them regularly.

Thanks to all of you,
I am living in Huay Yai, near Jomtien!
Sammuijimmy thanks for the Peacock Tree suggestion, I saw the tree before, but had no idea about the name, beautifull! I have two Hisbiscus allready, but it seems to be to hot in the direct sun for them.
Dukgae - I have several palms already, so I need something else - but you are right - cheap and no maintenance.
Regarding the bamboo - I think I got a species that is not spreading, so no roots could be found out of a 1 meter radius of the plants.
Happy New Year to all friends from ThaiVisa!!

Hi,
after I recently got rid of my 10 meter high xxxcking bamboo bushes, I am planning to plant several trees or plants along a wall, seperating the neighbours property from mine.
As I had problems with bamboo leaves in my pool in the past, I am looking for trees that are not loosing to many leaves arround the year or high growing bushes like the bougainville. Any idea, experience, tipps?

THX 2unique for the feedback, I will give it a try!
Any idea how much they normally charge?
ThaiSanookGuy - thx, but I will never ever let somebody stay in my house or rent it out for three years. - (especially thai relatives or people I don't know.)

I will have to work abroad for the next three to four years and so have to look for a company that can provide reliable maintenance to my property (Huay Yai, 3br, garden, pool).
Does anybody have good expirience with a local company?
How much will they charge? Garden, Pool, House once a week? Do they charge you by sqm?
Thanks in advance

Thx to all of you!!
I think I check it out and let you know.
Does anybody know about additional fees that I have to face living in this moo ban - I never thought about that?
For the pessimists - yes I am married (she is from Thailand) for over 15 years, have been working here for some years, living in BKK now and I am still happy with it!
Greetings from BKK

Hi CM Expats,
I am looking for any input on Koolpunt 7 - along Canal Rd, as I am thinking of buying a house in the Estate.
Before I am going to visit the place, I would like to have an idea what to ask for.
How`s about the location? Is where any shopping place nearby or do I have to drive to Hang Dong? Is thearea flooded during the rainy season? Anyone would recommend it?
Thx from BKK

I enjoy living at Ratchada!
You've got everything within 15 Minutes Radius, just try to get something near the MRT.
I pay 20.000 for a 46 sqm 1 Bedroom app. directly on top of the MRT, huge swimming pools, sauna, gym,...
Taxi from Suv.Airport is 240,- plus

Well, it's two full days that I have been smoking exclusively this blu premier electronic cigarettes. I just used up one cartridge (the filter that contains the ingredients). One cartridge is meant to last 250 drags which it says equivalent to one pack of cigarettes. So far, it has satisfied my smoking habit but like I said earlier I would use it interchangeable with real tobacco.
Reading off the cartridge box:
Ingredients: Distilled Water, Nicotine, Natural & Artificial Flavors, USP Glycerin, Citric Acid
I smoked a pack a day untill I bought an ego-t electronic cigarette. I stopped smoking the same day and still have half a pack on my office desk. Try it - its just different, but you don't have the feeling to miss something.

They got the same thing in the UAE/Dubai.

Sorry,
but there is no German Consulate in BKK and no Thai Embassy in LA.
Embassies are in the Capitols - Consulates somewhere else.

I had it done at Bumrungrad 4 years ago - I can't remember the price, but I think it was over 50.000 Baht.
It lasted just 4 years and now I am wearing glases again.
Everything was professional an after examination the first day (30 Minutes) the next day I had the surgery (45 Minutes)
It was not painfull but terrible to have someone strech your eyes to the limit. One week later I was still looking like a Zombie.
I was 49 years old and my eyesight is still getting worse, soo think about it. It just helps for 1 - 3 years, depending on your age.

Import of Buddha Statues into Thailand
in General Topics
Posted
Hi,
Does anybody of you have experience with the import of Buddha statues to Thailand?
We are going to relocate as soon it is possible and we were told by the moving company, that the import of our smal Buddha Statues is not allowed, as we do not have an Export licence in the first place.
What shall we do?
A way to aply for licence?
We got 4 Statues about 30 cm high, in our house since 20 years, and beeing moved arround the world.
Thx
