LOL...My friend had a vanity license plate in the USA "smegma" for the longest time on an old Rolls Royce...Not a well known word..He finally had to surrender the plate...lol..

  3. Yes I do have the money to buy the real deal and im not trying to slide her some pirate perfume. What gets me is she specifically asked for the stuff that they mix in front of you.I think its also legit because there is not a look alike label or packaging that represents the product.I must say this girl has been thrifty since I met her..lol

Can't you afford one from the legitimate store in Central? I think its much safer than buying it in a hawker stall.By the way, if you're really interested in buying those, god knows what, local mixture of perfume, I actually saw a stall just at the opposite front of CMU selling those perfumes. My advice to you is still, don't even bother. You might end up regretting it as you never know what it's gonna do to your skin.

a friend of mine bought one of those "specials" for an old flame back in NZ, and got a very affectionate response :o . He didnt have the heart to say it wasn the real deal thou, even thou the old flame kept saying how wonderful that he had bought expensive perfume for her. :D arh bless 'em

  4. My Gf told me while im in Chiang Mai that I should go to one of those stores that mix up from scratch any top name perfume you want. She says they just look in a formula book they have and make it up for a fraction of the original cost of the name brand perfume. She also says its quite good.Any ideas where one of these stores might be???

  5. I was watching a travel show yesterday and they showed a segment in Chiang Mai about Spirulina there. The process for making this health product was looking like a sewer treatment plant..lol.Its some form of a green algae plus you could get it in pill form. The product seemed to have all kinds of health benefits..Is there anyone buying this stuff or any testaments to this product??

  6. Wow...Thats a great price..I payed over that back in the states back in 1980 for my private license..Especially now with the price of Av gas.Av gas back then was about $2.00 per gallon.I would be curious what kind of planes they are are using..We used Cessna 152.I can only imagine what your cross country will be like...I admire you for getting your license in Thailand..

Hi all, just wondering if anyones gone after a Pilots license in Chiang Mai of late.

I'll be rolling in soon and am wondering what the situation is on taking the course up in Chiang Mai.

I was going to do it back in 2003 but Koh Taos warm waters got in the way instead :o

They do the pilots course down in Rayong area and its about 50k baht there (roughly) but I'm not so sure about up north.

Any grizzled pilots with ideas, clues or horror stories is appreciated :D

    Cheers

    JK

  7. Here in Davao City were I live the mayor is very strict about wearing helmets so everyone is wearing a helmet.People also leave there helmets on there bike at the mall.....etc or wherever.I guess its kind of a mutual respect thing here about not stealing someones helmet. But most of the helmets are the cheapo ones you guys described..Hey,they steal everything else here..lol

I purchased a new bike here and was told I could not ride on the streets until I received the license plate..I asked what about having a license applied for plate with all my paper work.I was told to many people were abusing the license applied for, having never applied for a plate..I rode anyway, was stopped by the police for no plate and paid the bribe.Welcome to the Philippines...lol

  8. When I was in Chiang Mai a few months back I noticed some people were wearing helmets and the vast majority were not.If it is law do they enforce it???
