  1. If you're lost in the woods, no worries, just say the magic word "VEGAN", and you will instantly have hundreds of ignorant idiots popping out of nowhere to argue with you.

I am not saying that as an insult or to create division. But seriously, you guys obviously know nothing about veganism, as usual, you are quick to dismiss it and joke about vegans, saying: "but bacon though...", never even realizing that one goes vegan TO END THE DESPICABLE EXPLOITATION, TORTURE, SUFFERING AND KILLING OF TRILLIONS OF ANIMALS.

That's the only reason. Veganism is not about trying out a new recipe of cocoa almond milk or fancy new vegan products just because you enjoyed a conversation with a vegan, while saying that you will never give up on cow's milk, because you just love it. Veganism is doing your best to eliminate pain, suffering and death from your diet. And yes, cow's milk also creates a huge amount of pain, suffering and death. It's about recognizing that animal products are made out of attrocious pain, suffering and death, by the TRILLIONS, and that it doesn't even register on the "conscious" mind of human kind... Vegans were not born vegans. But they educated themselves to reach a point of understand where they could not tolerate the cruelty any longer, and then they acted upon it, and changed their ways.

If you truly want to understand how your food is produced and how inhumane and intolerable it all is, read this short essay, and watch the slaughterhouse footages (YES, FORCE YOURSELF TO DO IT, DON'T BE A COWARD), and all the documentaries about the environment and health implications. Educate yourself about this industry of death that is purposefully hidden from you. Litterally, a true conspiracy !!

This is my only post, I will not answer the usual deluge of attacks  and arguments that always comes when advocating for veganism. Educate yourself before you judge, that's all I'm saying, and be willing to admit that you could be wrong in your current understanding of things. That goes for all topics, but especially veganism, since 99% of the population are completely unaware of what's going on behind the walls of slaughterhouses. And even if they think about it from time to time, they prefer to willfully ignore it, and remain comfortably numb as cowards and hypocrites, rather than face reality and do something about it.

That's all I have to say. Thank you.

Yes. I regularly see these trucks. I cannot deny that it disturbs me - these sentient creatures (pigs are intelligent) are aware of what is in store for them.

I honestly cannot reconcile these moral/ ethical contradictions. I like eating meat - chicken and pork - I don't eat beef after looking at the beautiful liquid eyes of cattle in my native Somerset. Stupid maybe that there you go!

I certainly enjoy vegetarian dishes, and will eat "veggie" at times.

    As I said, difficult problem.

Yes, pigs are more intelligent than dogs.
I couldn't reconcile the moral contradictions for 46 years.
All along I knew something was not right, that it couldn't be "normal" to have to kill in order to survive.
But like most people, I was conditionned by my parents, by society's norms, and the industy's marketing ploys.
And one day I decided to learn about nutrition, which is the most important thing we should learn about in life since we eat constantly.

I learned about the health benefits of vegan whole food plant based diet, and that animal products create the epidemic of chronic diseases and death.

Then i learned about how meat and dairy is produced, since it is hidden from the public.
I watched Earthlings, Dominion, and other documentaries.

And I watched the slaughter-house footages that I knew existed but that I never had the courage to watch.

I was disgusted by learning what the human race is capable of doing without the slightest remorse.
Then I became vegan, to stop contributing to the senseless destruction of animals, the environment, and my health.
And now, just like that, I lost a ton of weight, have tons more energy, and the moral contradictions have vanished.

It is vegetarian, lacto vegetarians eat dairy and eggs, they are not food Nazi's like Vegans

Insulting vegans and animal cruelty because you are so ignorant that you can't even learn a bit about the industry of death that feeds you 3 times a day since you were born is shameful.

    Who's the nazi here ?

Hate to rain on anyones (vegetarian) parade. But clearly, none of the posters here have ever lived in rural Thailand. Otherwise they would know that vegetables that reach the markets are laden with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides etc etc. (probably world record).

Guess what, "educated" Thai-Farmers have a patch of land put aside for their personal consumption, with no application of any "chemicals". The rest goes "to market".

Note: Without "chemicals" the yield of crops drops by 30%.

So, the consumption of Thai-Vegetables resembles a process that can be called "self-poisoning in slow motion". Enjoy your "veggi" meal. How about taking up smoking?

Yes, pesticides are a problem that, if we were a sane society, we would have fixed long ago, but your argument is like saying we should stop breathing because of the pollution. The benefits of eating veggies outweight by a lot the risks of pesticides. And guess what, the pesticides on veggies are also eaten by livestock, and end up in the meat as well, plus hormones and anti-biotics.

  5. I tried going there to apply for new passport. It is like entering a prison facility, with a mean-looking female security officer yelling at everybody and treating you like shit. Then the line was long, and after some time, I arrived in front of the person in charge who asked me if I had an appointment. I said no, last time I was here years ago, I didn't need an appointment. He said, oh now you need an appointment, you must go online on our website and apply for appointment. I had come from Hua-Hin, so yeah... thank you very much. Waste of time. Then back home, I went online to make this appointment. You must select the day that you wish, and believe it or not, but the first date available was MORE THAN 1 MONTH LATER !!! This is absolutely ridiculous, don't tell me that there are millions and millions of french people flooding the consulate everyday...

  6. On October 30, 2015, I was told that I could NOT cross the border to Myanmar at Phu Nam Ron.

I had a thai double-entry visa, and I just wanted to out/in to activate my second entry.

They said I needed to have a visa for Myanmar.

I said I was there 6 months ago, did exactly the same thing with no problem.

    They said rules have changed.

I said, this is absurd, in my passport, it says immigration wants me to leave Thailand on October 30, if you don't let me out, you make me an illegal overstayer.

Then they made me wait while someone called the big boss in bkk.

After almost 1 hour on the phone, they said, ok, you can cross, like it was such a big favor.

I went to Myanmar, but this time you have to pay 200 bahts to the driver, and 500 bahts directly to Myanmar immigration.

Then back to Thailand, and I got my second entry as usual.

At the end of the day, I still don't know if we are allowed to cross, or if it was just a big favor for myself, but I would NOT recommend to try your luck.

As usual, we know nothing, and thais don't know either what they are doing.

  7. Hi Ubonjoe,

In your post #10, you say that one can get a Non-Immigrant O visa if we want to visit a family member.

My dad is retired in Thailand, so could I get a Non-Immigrant O visa ? And what are the requirements ?

Is it for 90 days ? and then I can extend it inside Thailand for 1 year, correct ?

If yes, then can I do this for as long as my dad is retired ? or is there a limit ?

    Thanks a lot.

  8. Hi Cyrus,

I'm 100% forex trader living in chiangmai since 4 years, just found this thread, and also looking for people interested to meet and talk and share anything regarding this crazy business. I'm running a website where i give free (for now...) forex signals, but i won't post it here, otherwise people will say i'm spamming, but if anyone is interested, just contact me privately.

I'd be glad to meet anyone who's interested in forex, if you are in thailand and more precisely Chiang Mai, contact me.

Internet is horrible in thailand, i moved already countless times because of that, lost money because of it too, so finally i gave up and decided to change my strategy so that even if i lose connection for hours, it won't affect my profits. I decided to trade only daily or H4 charts, and guess what... now i am much more profitable than when i traded small timeframes. As a professional trader the best advice i can give is don't trade anything smaller than H1. And then it actually gives you time to live and not be glued to the screen all day. It becomes the perfect work from home business.

Looking forward to meet you all, contact me.

  9. exactly !!!

This is such a joke, we are being bullied !!

The bottom line is that we paid for 1 year course + 1 year visa.

We have received none, and no refund or compensation is even mentioned in this official letter.

Many students already had their visa expired and had to leave the country, and pay the overstay fine because they promised us that the visa would come. They even kept my passport while I was 9 days overstay.

They stole our money and now they bully us with such nonsense.

Who in his right mind would join the course they now propose after such a dishonest behavior !!!

  10. This thread is meant to try to find a solution for the 300 students who got screwed by CMU.

So pls. have some respect and stop advertising and posting your ego in here.

Are you also gonna try to sell your caskets in a funeral ?

This pointless blah-blah-blah makes the thread already too long to read, when we need useful information to solve the crisis.

Seems there is always someone to spoil every single forum thread I read.

    Human nature i guess...

    Thanks.

  11. Hello, sorry if this was asked many times before but it is so difficult to find the correct info...

I am swiss+french (2 passports) and i want to stay in thailand for 6 months. Can someone pls. tell me if my plan is ok or not? :

    Month 1+2

Enter thailand with a 60days tourist visa.

    Month 3

Go to Sathorn office to get tourist visa 30days extension.

    Month 4

Visa run at cambodian border to get my first 30 days entry without visa.

    Month 5

Visa run at cambodian border to get my second 30 days entry without visa.

    Month 6

Visa run at cambodian border to get my third and last 30 days entry without visa.

A- This would allow me to stay legally in thailand for 6 months, correct ?

B- After this 6months, I will have to leave thailand, but is it possible to apply for another tourist visa right away?, or do we need to wait another 6months to be allowed back in thailand?

C- If yes, does that mean we can stay in thailand forever doing this, just flying out of thailand and back every 6months?

All this is so confusing... Thanks for clarifying.

  12. I am not trying to do anything illegal here, i just wanna know if double-nationals are entitled to double stay or not, because, to my knowledge, the law doesnt say anything about it. So it may be a loophole in their new rules. I can't believe I will be the first one to try that. Maybe i will try it while my visa is still valid, so i can always use my first passport in case someting goes wrong.

    The rule is:

"Foreigners who enter the Kingdom under the Tourist Visa Exemption category may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay of not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry"

It seems quite clear to me. You the foreigner (not your passport) are not allowed to stay more than 90 days on visa exemptions within a 6 month period. You might be able to get away with staying 90 days on one passport followed by 90 days on the other, but the fact is that you would have stayed more than 90 days, so how can you possible imagine that would not be breaking the rules? Why would the fact that you have two passports allow you to stay longer than anyone else on visa exemptions?

And if you should get caught trying to enter Thailand after having "circumvented" the rules I wouldn't expect the immigration police to be flexible.

    Sophon

Ok Sophon, thx for your answer. So i guess the border officers dont even know their job...

For the others who laugh at people, go get a life.

  13. They used to outline it - went something like arrest for illegal entry, transport to Bangkok and deportation. But perhaps there is a kinder, gentler system in place now. I would not be fooling around with passport changes at any land border.

  14. I suspect Cambodia will not allow you to enter without a Thai exit stamp in your passport and if you try to enter Thailand without a Cambodian visa/exit stamp you will be in the same boat. If you are stamped out of Thailand and not allowed to enter Cambodia you will be in a world of trouble. Don't even try it.

    From uncool Aranyapratet:

Foreigners crossing into Thailand from Cambodia must have valid a exit stamp from the Cambodian immigration authorities in their passport.

    - Foreigners entering Thailand without having their travel documents checked will be considered illegal immigrants and are subject to prosecution according to Thai immigration laws.

I dont have that in writing, but who can we trust if we can't even trust the border officer ? Who can tell for sure ? i guess the only way to know is to try. What i want to know is what happens if it does not work. They really deny entry or allow for few days for us to take the plane out ?

  15. Hi again,

Yesterday i went to Trat-Koh Kong border for my 3rd visa in a row, it seems they are much more cool than in Aranyapratet. They spend around 10min in order to calculate the number of days i spent in thailand, and they did not ask me for my plane ticket. I asked the officer if next time i could switch my passport, and after showing a strange face for a while, he said yes, i can leave thailand showing my swiss passport, and enter cambodia showing my french passport, and reenter thailand with my french passport. Then i asked him if he was sure because i dont want any trouble and if that means that i can stay in thailand forever without visa, and he seemed embarrassed and finally said yes. But I am not very sure they know what they are talking about over there... I guess it will depend on the mood of the officer at the time.

But i would really like to know if someone tried that already. And what happens if they refuse? Do they still allow us to enter for a few days in order to fly out of thailand, or do they really forbid us to reenter ?

    Any advice appreciated.
