  1. This could lead to some creative thinking from some cash strapped family members with little value on life.

In U.S. if you accidentally are killed, ( say by airline misfortune ) i understand the value of human life to be set @ 3.M. U.S.D.............................. IN America, all life is equal, regardless of nationality. Thai guests, pay close attention, this is an example of somethig different for you............................................................................ "higher standards"

Thai govt pays, $12.500 U.S.D( 400,000BHT @x32 ) for " accidental death" ( I'm laughing so hard right now i almost spilled my tom yum )

    3M/12.5= 240

therefore , your life is worth 1/240th of its " REAL " value in LOS, ( in a best case) as an American, to the Thai authorities.

so..........your life is almost worthless in Thailand.

Question: why would i risk my life with lower safety standards say in phuket ( which is becoming a sewer) as a diver, when i can have all of the best infrastructure ( read; higher standards ) in cairns or hawaii?. Yes i can get laid on my own.

  2. Listen up! The explosives specialists are talking and coming even up with "urea"....:o

Urea is a fertilizer and absolutely harmless; it is as explosive and as flammable as your table salt...

Ammoniumnitrate is also a fertilizer but it also has certain explosive properties. However what people always forget is that you can't just detonate Ammoniumnitrate by accident unless you have a fire under many tens or hundreds of tons of compressed AN. It is not sensitive at all and it requires a very strong initiation by a strong blasting cap and a strong booster charge of high explosives before it can be detonated. If you are able to bring it to an explosion its strength is about 1/3 of that of military high explosives. Mixing it with Diesel yields a higher detonation temperature and a larger fireball but it doesn't increase its sensitivity - but you must know exactly what you are doing and you must mix it very thoroughly. Mixing it with aluminium powder will further increase the explosion temperature but it doesn't make it significantly stronger and it doesn't increase it's sensitivity - and there is still the requirement of a strong blasting cap and massive booster charge.

Let's not speculate about bombs and explosives and estimates of quantities of explosives before there is any evidence that it was caused by a bomb or by explosives and it can be clearly excluded that it was not a gas explosion. Remember how many houses have been destroyed worldwide by gas explosions.

Here a video of about 50kg of ammoniumnitrate initiated by a massive booster charge:

you would need a " primer" charge" usually use Penalte 1 kilo, cast plastic. a proper trojan blasting cap and approved class "A" fuse and igniter.throw in a bit of det cord for good fun,say 10 m.

Highly unlikely in LOS without professional training, and access to proper materials. the burn rate in this type of device is like a fast match......no real compressive componet to speak of.

we need to have a visual of the damaged structure,to make a semi educated guess as to the proficency of ower team ( if there is one ).

    here today,gone today.

  3. It is a private business. It is their right to deny access to anyone. They should not try to steal his booking payment.

the owner didnt like the guy and kicked him out. he happend to be black, whats the problem?

reality shows, and rap music are,in my not so humble oppinion, the cause for bad effect. rap originated in the U.S. south where the black guy with no money or future would lay a "rap" on his girl who also had no options.early 1900's.Robert Johnson ,etc.

Nothing has changed ,it would appear....................black guy blaming "the man"...............two words, NA NA.

  4. Why so many idiotic, hatred and childish comments here??

The people are REALLY affected. The busineeses are REALLY need support. And all of those workers are not the ones who made problems - now they just need to survive after the terror right below their windows. Those who dislike the red's actions - please just come and sue them, it is ANOTHER story for ANOTHER topic!

Talking about "bangkok should be back" - but very ironic in every step on this long way...??

A very nice "support" from all of you, yeah, who dare to call this land "a home"...

Shame on you all. Get back to your holes and dont bark on the wind, if unable to say something more meaningful.

    I couldn't agree more !!!

the typical pathetic Farang moaners, whose brains have been severely damaged by consuming too many CHANG and SINGHA every day !

many of the vendors at Silom today are supposed to be from the SIAM SQUARE area, and there are a lot of STYLISH and UP-TO-DATE fashion shops or art and artist's products to be had usually.

Apart from that, today is one of the very rare days where I am even receptive to buy some "knick-knack", just to support those people affected by redshirt-hooligans.

I am OFF to Silom in less than one hour, stopping at Queen Sirikhit Center for the BANGKOK POST TRAVEL FAIR on the way, and I would be more than happy to see very few of those ridiculous Farang moaners, instead see many smiling faces of local residents, visiting tourists and of course, vendors, all with a "YES WE CAN - REBUILD BANGKOK AND IT'S REPUTATION" - attitude.

KHOR HAI CHOK DEE THUK KHON THAI !

Ah............... things seem to be heading back to "normal". "FALANG" is spoken.

    Happy shopping.

Truly nothing personal, my well educated friend:

It's only a suggestion: save your money, travel to the other side of the world, alone, out of your comfort zone, where you don't speak the language, somewhere the country really doesn't want you, in fact is actually aggressive towards you, where you are hassled endlessly about your visa, where the taxi's will rip you off for as much as possible, EVERY TIME,where you are charged 2-3 times normal value FOR EVERYTHING because you

are you, and it's a national passtime to steal from anyone who is unsuspecting or trusting, where the flimsy corrupt laws are broken to harass and intimidate you ( the visitor),where you are GUILTY, until PROVEN innocent, where bribes are so ingrained , on a national level,it is impossible to have order without them, where cold blooded premeditated murders are daily occurrences, and go unpublished in any newspaper, where xenophobic racism is rampant, where you have no civil rights, where women will throw themselves at you as prostitutes, supported by the local and national authorities, then blame you for your actions, where kidnappings are daily occurrences, where the locals kill tourists by the score,"by accident"and go unpunished ,where disease goes unchecked, where poor children have no vaccines ,where alcohol is the national drug, where you can be killed by a local drunk driver, and your family will be fined because you were"in the way",where your dead body will be held ransom to your family by the authorities, where you can't own you own land, after being scammed by unscrupulous illegal real estate operations, with beautiful beaches, world class scuba diving centers, and powerful drug mafias, where the military owns the government , assassinates it's opponents, rig elections, where there is no middle class, poverty is the norm ($7usd/day income).......................................... then post another thread.

    Thats right........................................ MEXICO !!!!!!!!!!!!! :):D:D

I think I'm off to have an ice cold Carta Blanca , burn off those last 3-4 pathetic brain cells i have left.

Hasta luego, y, via con Dios, Mi ( misinformed ) Amigo.

Oh, and good luck with rebuilding that .................. " Bangkok's reputation "..................... thing.

  5. Hopefully they make an arrest very soon.

The Thai govt issued a very stern warning at the beginning of all of this stating that foriegners had no place at the protests and rightly so. This very foolish person has brought this upon himself, society has too many people like this, hopefully he won't see the light of day for a very long time. Hope hes fond of fish head soup. :)

    aside from the

    m-16's/ 50's

    bullet proof vests

    all riot gear

    sound defenses

    heavy weapons

    tanks\jets

    helicopters

    ammunition

    advisors

    training

    electronic survailiance

    etc.

    etc.

etc. sold my my country to Thai military. I am involved, like it or not. hel_l I paid for those weapons w/my tax dollars, i sure as h-ll want a voice.

my vote will be cast when my friends ask if they should go to thailand ,or the Maldives.....................or bali....................or fiji.............or philipines.................or....................................cairns.........

    ..................or cozumel........................or.......

I must say the bloke on the u-tube video is my winner for the darwin award. my friends have a saying............"toss spot" ?...........what ever that means. It feels appropriate for this guy.

prayers to H.M. the king and family, and all law abiding good people. :D

  6. Angry people, keep calm

Now imagine a nation of angry people - with a symbol (the burning mall) and a target. Thaksin is finished.

He was paying 500 bt/dy. a nice deal for someone who normally gets 200.

    anyone believe in KARMA?

the debreefing, and assesment of how all this was allowed will be interesting. The people who lost the most are the people who are potential employers of the protesters. who,Like the Natzis, upon defeat,( protesters) shed their uniforms, however the " coconut telegraph " will identify them, and the employers will administer ( through work access, and payscale ) a vote.

lots of bugs scattered when the lights went on. This will take some time.

I agree, Mr T will have no industrialized nation give him a visa. He is finished. ...............................Look for him to try to settle in Fiji.

    prayers to H.M. and family.

  7. A 10 year old boy shot dead today.

    gallery_327_1086_19838.jpg

The Thai Armies have Cross too many lines to go back.

The Thai Government has now become a Rouge Nation.

The Chinese Government in their worst day never Opened Fire on a Crowd of Protestors.

Sure they beat people to death with Clubs, but never have they SHOT 10 Year Old Children and Elderly WOmen.

The Thai Government has become a Rouge Nation.

The Chinese government never opened fire on a crowd of protesters? Are you insane? Have you not heard of the Tiananmen square massacre? The Xinjiang riots? I could go on but you're either some Chinese revisionist history beliveving nut or completely ignorant. If this situation were happening in China or most any other country the death toll would be a hel_l of a lot higher.

    Copy that.

Early on I found a website w/ propaganda almost identical to viet cong , in the day. the commentator was arguing on behalf of the UDD.

It must be said every viet cong division included a military commander, and a " political" commander. I proved to be effective, along w/a "hit and run" tactic.

I'll try to dig up the link.

I'd like to know how china feels about these events? anyone heard anything?

  8. Its impossible for another Army person to fill the role of Sae Daeng. His bamboo barricade technique was unconquerable and he didn't teach anyone the method. Nope, there is only one Army man who can lead a group of terrorists. The battle is over now. We can rest easy.

a convicted military/ civilian in jail will die slowly................................................ an assasinated political figurehead will live on as a mrytr. BAD.

Messsage sent to the next leader................... tow the line ( and become very rich ) or ....................................pay.

I pray daily for the king and the good people of Thailand.

I feel international buisness was starting to be affected. khun big said " no more bad busisness"

and about a few tyres and sticks........................ someone was mounting a severly misinformed attack.

I have taken my buisness to South Africa. Cheap labor, no problems. Well those pesky pirates.............

I will return to my beloved Thailand in 1-2 wks. :):D:D

  9. gallery_327_1086_313.jpg

    Let's look at this image.

Different people will see different things.

I for instance make note that the man to the right of the crying woman is clearly pro-Thaksin (with his I <3 DUBAI t-shirt). And seem to highlight the point that many pro-reds here try to explain away. Thaksin's grip on the reds are far deeper than they would like to admit. Because even many Red-fans [on TV] seem to recognize that Thaksin is NOT valid spokesman for democracy and peace. And hence, any win by the reds, in my opinion, will only pave the road for Thaksin to come back and pillage the country again. If that is what you want, fine, stand up and say so. Or that you don't mind that he rapes the rest of the nation as long as Your village get 1M baht allocated to it. Fine. But don't then try to pretend it has anything to do with democracy.

    well done.

be carefull, you speak truth, and have a brain. dangerous in these times.

  10. Norwegian Randi Hit by Gunshot Just Outside Her Bangkok Hotel

A Norwegian tourist Randi Fagertun Søderholm was hit by a gunshot when she and her daughter Iris left heir hotel Saturday night.

Just outside the hotel entrance Randi, 54, broke down while she was telling her daughter that she had been hit by something, writes the Norwegian tabloid VG.

Seconds later a bullet fell to the ground.

No wonder that Norwegian tourist’s ribs are still sore.

“I am a very lucky woman. No reason to bye lottery tickets anymore” she jokes.

“The bullet must have done something though. Because I think it hit me sideways”, Randi Fagertun Søderholm.

The hotel where Randi and her daughter stayed after almost finishing three weeks of vacation had been one of the main centers of the Red Shirt demonstrations which have plaque Bangkok.

“We had heard the noise of shots before but we thought it was Chinese fireworks. After I was hit I realized that it was real gunshots we heard”, Randi says.

“At first, I wondered if there was someone who had shot with a slingshot, but realized immediately that it wasn’t. But I wasn’t afraid either. Hello. I mean what are the odds of being struck by a bullet"? Randi is asking.

an un named moderator deleted my post forecasting the ( painfully predictable ) unfortunate events in LOS.

    i believe i was described as a " troll "

I will gladly buy the " moderator " a nice cold adult beverage.................I'm just that kind of guy,

    cheers, and good luck.

P.S. Anyone know what type of weapon the "guy in black" had? between him and his buddy i saw 2-3 weapons. :)

  11. NOTICE:

    Please keep this thread civil.

    /Moderating team

As amongst other things a trained journalist, I am distressed to find the methods and locations of criminal activity revealed in this way. Clearly, people who wish to emulate a crime can benefit from such information.

Revealing certain details regarding how to commit a crime is illegal in Australia, however I still see on the news there from time to time, information that simply 'gives too much away' to would be menaces to society.

There is a clear responsibility issue in this, both on the parts of legislators/law makers, and journalists/broadcast outlets.

As for the rest. No comment required. It's a form of criminal insanity. Best wishes for the care given to those affected, and to the measures of prevention arising from this.

***Footnote: I might add, on reflection, this question of publishing inappropriate material, similarly indicts this board and others which republish similar facts and details of cases and crimes, and therefore raises the issue of censorship. Bottom line for me is public safety. Any potential future criminals reading this thread might suddenly find themselves with the means to hurt someone.***

    Food for thought.

    Spot on. Thank you.

Is it possible that a monk can be bad?

It is said that the Buddha was wealthy and gave it all up to "understand".

consider............ " broken family, broken heart". You guys know what I'm talking about.

  12. What image does Thailand have to lose? :)

    AIDS ANYONE?

as iv'e been saying, the right lense size, angle, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DISTRIBUTION, can really distort the truth. Textbook example here. Propaganda 101, done badly . A relief

Question: When is the next payday for the "actors " ?,................................ next step-------DESPERATION. SEE: MEXICO

I truly feel for good Thai people. :D:D:D

  13. Update:

Intelligence warns of assassination attempts against PM

BANGKOK: –- Intelligence reports have warned of possible attempts to assassinate the prime minister.

Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Satit Wonghnongtaey stated that the warning has been unveiled for some time. Hence the prime minister has temporarily moved from his residence in downtown to a safe house in the 11th Infantry Regiment on the outskirts of Bangkok.

Speaking of this morning’s blood-splatter incident at the PM’s house, Mr Satit said the premier himself was not happy but did not consider filing a lawsuit against the offenders. He said that such action is not a peaceful means and may lead to violence.

The minister reckoned that the demonstrators are moving aimlessly while groups of extremists are also stepping up their roles. He believed however that the public will not accept radical movement.

Mr Satit admitted that negotiating with the core leaders of the UDD has become more difficult as they have started to be in conflict with each other.

good time to buy land :)

  14. I really don't see that the Government or the Army have anything to gain by starting violence. Quite the opposite in fact. I suspect that the grenade was fired by an extremist, probably Red.

by putting the" good" guys under attack from the "bad"guys you get necessary public support and an open credit card to buy and do what might be on your agenda. it may mot have anything to do with the obvious.

just consider someone operating for the govt, puts on a red shirt...fires a non lethal weapon, just enough to mame,.......................now you have a nice tidy little reason to covertly escalate, etc, etc, etc.

follow the money. i repeat. SINGAPORE GAS. :):D:D

  15. This is all propaganda and scare mongering. The red shirts are going to sieze the 11th infantry battalion please...... We are educated farangs.... Who is throwing out all these wierd and wonderful fairy tales. This is propoganda spread by the elite yellow.... and yes yellow which means frightened.

my friend, you are on the right track, but stopped at the wrong tree.

    It's the news BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

many hours are spent by many people who make lots and lots of money, making news ( something ) from nothing. alot like the USD/POUND :) ( sorry, it was to easy )

someone is enjoying ( profiting) the "hits " from current events.

I have heard it called a " teaser" , so you won't touch the remote. watch the allmighty commercial, or in this case the hit.

sadly.......yes.......most of the "news" is fabricated/edited for your consumption/judgement.and most importantly,WANTING MORE.

I sleep well knowing the profits from the pain of others is given back to those who cant help themselvs. The ones who actually OWN the story in the 1st place!

good night...................and stay tuned for the unbelievably heartbreaking story, of truth, love, and justice,

A NATION HELD HOSTAGE BY A CONVICTED TERRORIST!!!............................................................................

    ......................................................right after this commercial break

    :D

George bush, Maggy Thatcher?...................i guess ill stay around and find out the REAL TRUTH.

  16. Those were red bombs, most probably. The bank bombs were red as well. The timing is obvious. Why the doubt that we are dealing with violent people when the proof and truth is blowing up all over?

It's almost as if you are hoping for a violent end to all this, you idiot ...

yeah, but think of the television RATINGS, NEWSPAPER SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!, and internet " hits"..............gimmie somadat...................dats what im takinbuot. Yeah baby$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

nice pilot for reality show...............hmmmmmm, we use the actual footage from impending civil unrest for " b roll" it will be free of cost, because it is " news" ( children crying, mothers wailing, strong stoic nationalist men , all blaming eachother..........) hire 15 reds, 15 yellows, 15 uncommitted, write "production notes" for the "performers" to read, at some piont they will interact with (after we have developed "characters" that are pre-selected to be A)profitable and most importantly :D incompatable ) eachother.

we could do it for 500K USD.....................and then a "making of documentary",then a film, then a sequal, and then weekly episodic, then............................................................................

    ........................................syndication!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the good people of Thailand.............................., this is what they are doing to YOU right now....................this is the formula. Make no mistake, I'm sure :)

  17. Those were red bombs, most probably. The bank bombs were red as well. The timing is obvious. Why the doubt that we are dealing with violent people when the proof and truth is blowing up all over?

and the Yews did WTC, right? most probably, obvious.

for the internet hate machine you don't need any evidence. just write all down what fits your paranoia.

the first fact in a very long time.

    thank you.

  18. :)

I would not be surprised if this "old dog" is up to his old (proven) tricks . . . . What do you guys think of the following scenario:

[take into account that IF he could somehow manage to get the current government thrown-out, and IF fresh elections were to be held - it is a "no-brainer" that Thaksin would easily be elected again]

    1. All that money they have taken from him, would be handed back to him.

    2. The criminal conviction would easily be overturned, rendering him "clean" again

    3. With his vast wealth returned to him, he could then pay-off those Army & Police chaps who helped him (making them very rich indeed).

    Ergo: Bob's your Uncle

Conclussion: Thaksin's in Cambodia, because the very moment this government falls, all he has to do is walk into Thailand, to a, no doubt, hero's welcome, especially in that part of Thailand . . .

    I would not be surprised

    JGK/Pattaya

    spot on.

however he canot continue to pay forever. the big buisness will have their way w/ him. soon.he seems to be their puppet.

it seems possible if the frontman has " problems " a replacement is rehearsing as we speak.

i hope ower king will go public, lead the good people who love him. drastic times require drastic measures.

and where is his son in all of this??????????

    good luck to all.

P.S. have anyone had a look at thai stocks?..........singapore gas? :D:D:D

  19. what about media censorship? Why is this not mentioned?

Because they're only talking of implementing NEW measures, not old ones that have been in effect for years already.

no problem, go out be normal, (as if that's possible, tit) carry 1) red shirt 1) yellow shirt 1) white shirt, go around asking, " where is wat po ?" maybee nice view from BTS :)

  20. I always wanted an older big brother. this one actually seems to be on our side. Works for me! :) Nice to see something is being done about cleaning up this mess. Make an example out these troublemakers. mai mii bpen haa
