  1. I would recommend the new Elite fitness gym on by pass road(south)..i was in their last week and its amazing.http://www.elitegyms.net/ also there is RPM at the Royal Phuket marina... but its quite expensive. I did not pay for the first session at Elite...

  2. CCTV footage looks like a bunch of headlights...

At the 7s mark you can see the vehicles begin to spin as was reported in the Thai press and may have been responsible for flinging some of the bodies from the van.

If you freeze-frame it, it's the Honda that's going sideways and the van is already out of shot around 7 secs. The reports say it was the vans spinning into the overpass that split the back and ejected the bodies. Notice how the camera really shudders at about 10 seconds. Maybe the cam was mounted on the same structure as the overpass?

Yes it seems the under age inexperienced girl is at fault... probably on the phone and not paying attention as the van moved lanes. The damage to 'her' car could have been caused by the impact with the barrier not the van... however i cannot believe that someone who has been involved in such a serious crash would then use twitter to post such comments. Obviously a poor taste fake. maybe we should all reserve judgement until the facts come out...if her policeman father did get her only a 400bt fine and help her flee the country then he himself should be in serious trouble... after driving in Thailand for a long time i am surprised we dont get more serious accidents like this. Such a terrible thing to happen over the holiday period. RIP

  3. Well said....could not put it better myself....

    Afarang.

Like you I too have lived here for some twenty years and I have very close links to Surin. I assure you that there is indeed a total mistrust of Thaksin and the Red Shirt leadership in its current guise and aims.

The Red Shirt movement was hi-jacked by power crazed self enriching megalomaniacs intent on restoring Thaksin to power so as to enable them ( his little toadying acolytes) to dive head first into the pork barrel in their quest for corrupt self enrichment and the massacre of democracy as so graphically demonstrated by the previous Thaksin regime.

Cast your memory back to, '' Animal Farm." Indeed the pigs were soon shown in their true light as we have also seen with the likes of the greater majority of the Red Shirt leadership.

The monies that have not been accounted for, the total ignoring of the rank and file members in gaol who have been left high and dry and with no legal representation, the list is endless, the pawns are worthless to the power crazed megalomaniac (mis) leaders. of the Red Shirt movement

Indeed a wonderful show of democracy from a self proclaimed democratic led movement.

Cast the mote from thine eye.

  4. An oil spill would probably improve the water condition along Bangrak.

Hey guys....just wanted to add my 2 pennies...just thinking if they can get 35,000 people holding hands around the island would it not be a better idea to ask everyone to bring a black bin bag?. i mean collecting 35,000 black bin bags of trash will be a bigger achievement than complaining about something they know little about...It has disappointed me tremendously this last week listening to people i respect comparing the proposed gas rig to the Deep water horizon...Although i dont want a rig near samui i know as long as i keep driving my car i need that rig....so its the lesser of two evils... drilling for low pressure gas at 30-40m rather than drilling for high pressure oil at 1.5 KM...??? whats less dangerous?

The gulf of thailand has 195 existing rigs.....1 more will make such a big difference? i dont think so....

Has anyone noticed the run off from the over flowing sewers in Maenam when there is a storm??....that does more damage than a Gas rig which comes with a large no fishing exclusion zone.... this i believe is the real reason why people are opposing....some powerful people control the fishing industry and for me in my experience the fishermen are some of the big polluters are killers of marine life around samui....

  5. There's not many men in this world who I have the up most respect for or would feel humbled in their presence, Abhisit is most definitely a man who I truly respect.

He has proven without reasonable doubt he is what this country needs, maybe not in the eyes of some folk but for the country as a whole Thailand needs Abhisit.

I bow before your sir, how you have handled the situation over the past few weeks is truly remarkable and commendable given the circumstances.

I could not agree more. Well said!!..would you rather have this Honest, educated politcian leading you into a bright future or would you rather have the corrupt old school back in stealing the countries money..?...

  6. After Mr Amsterdam's bumbling debut performance on Al Jazeera yesterday, I don;t know if he will be employed much longer. The interviewer made mincemeat of the guy. He even said that the poor people who deserved justice and democaracy were "in the north"

I believe the word "shyster" applies nicely here.

5555555 i am still laughing...i even emailed Al Jazeera to thank them!!...the blond chick made him look like the ambulance chaser he is !!...shame on the reds and shame on Thaksin!!!

  7. Yes i am also waiting for news.....my guess is February...i for one cannot wait....flight times maybe 3 hours and 7000b return....or am i dreaming..Phuket is turning into a great place to base oneself.

  8. if anyone needs tickets call my friend Khun Aon 0849383000 she works for the profitable group...tickets are i believe 800b , 1750 and 2500. the cheapest are sold out but for 2500 you get to sit on paul masefields lap.... :D

enjoy the game, i am stuck in Phuket....:)

  9. another interesting scam that was told by a client of mine was when he bought about 10 cartons of cigerettes at a middle east stop over(he was allowed to and i am not 100% sure the exact amount) His intention was to take them back to the UK after his short holiday in thailand probally buying more on the way back. when he arrived at swampy a airport official approached him and ask him what was in the clearly visable duty free bags...he said cigerettes is that ok he asked? the friendly guy said sure no problem and waved him through nothing to declare. As soon as he went through he was pounced on by customs and to cut a long story shory he was held for 5 hours with a trip to an external detention centre with seven other people in a similiar position and was forced to pay 70,000b and had the cigerettes confiscated.

It was obvious that the guys at the conveyor belt were working with customs as in hindsight he said they were all looking at him smiling and talking into walky talkies.....

mind you it did not stop him, next time he covered them with a suit jacket and walked straight through.... :)

  10. My recommendations...Beautiful World in Kamala for top quality low cost furniture but your will need wholesale quantities or Cozy company for cutting edge design(at a price)

    www.beautiuflworldthailand.com

have searched for the cozy webpage but no luck... maybe there somewhere...

  11. We worked with the Or Bor Tor. We had their full support.I believe there in an incinerator. its not perfect but apart from recycling there is no other choice expect land fill. Recycling and education is our long term goal.

The secret was that the hotels got behind us. Andara,Cape Sienna,Kamala beach hotel and the Courtyard all sent large numbers of their staff to help us out. Looking to clean Bangtao and Kalim beaches next. Moving forward we will look to raise a small amount of revenue through advertising and donations which will pay for two full time beach cleaners. We are also looking for a coordinator for the Naitharn area. If your interested get in touch. ....

Still waiting for some photos, i have been involved in several beach cleans and this was by far the best supported.

Well done everyone who helped out. Special thanks to Beautiful World( furniture and Interiors) and Nick ( Indigo Real Estate) with his Summer in Phuket campaign. He has a point about the weather in the summer season. It was absolutely beautiful yesterday.....

Mai khao was cleaned i believe in February. If anyone has any suggestions of beaches that need cleaning please let us know.
