  1. And accusing a fellow countryman to be un-.....(file in the respective Nation) is actually one of the most stupid arguments i can imagine
    .

This will most likely shock you so please do not knock over your terminal but ... FOX News watching dittoheads routinely call "liberals" and yes even President Obama UNAMERICAN.

You bet it's stupid, but stupid is as stupid does. However when you are dealing with people of this level might as well use terms they understand :D

So what? It is stupid, no matter form what side it comes. Silly piss contest who is the bigger nationalist and represents the nation better. Fox news is Fox news you don't have to explain me that.

Funny enough - FOX criticism always comes on a retarded level that almost beats FOX itself. :P

    GlennBeckRapedAndMurderedAYoungGirlIn1990.com - that was cool.

  2. What i mean is that you can not reconstruct family history with the help of some church documents. Of course you will find there names and dates but they are actually meaningless with no value. you will know nearly nothing about that persons on the past.

Compare that with a tradition or a story of your greatx grandpa Hugh that was told form generation to generation together with maybe some item like a ring, his personal dagger or a oil painting or the family bible. here you would have something like a "vivid memory", something that kept your family together over the centuries. Tradition you keep alive by practicing and not by finding some names on a grave somewhere.

Ancestry research is a fad, hyped with the internet and now a hobby horse for many, mostly WASP of the north American continent in the hope they maybe one uncle or grand ma was amongst the religious wackos on the Mayflower. For some its also a business, the professionals, getting paid to find the royals.

Once you can hop back to the old continent or even better British island (less less archive loss during th wild time of the past) it will be more or less easy to come up with a royal as your relative. That sounds impressive, but many of todays living people have similar traces in their family tree. And if there wouldn't be an archive loss in the search of TVF member Thongkorn, he would for sure also come up with some royals. easy peasy.

But Merovingians??? har, har, har. Only in America. Bigger, longer and much older. For sure. yoyo. :whistling:

Okay, I understand that its fun for you, its a hobby. It is a way to dive into history. but this biographical and family tree approach is more or less para-scientific. marginal important. And something where a third person just can chuckle if someone come up with the royals and even the Merovingian dynasty.

Ermm, I chuckle because Hussein was using his claims as proof of the righteousness of his cause and that all other Muslims should support him. Yet his hated enemy leaders had verifiable proof that they were descendants of Muhammad. So what does that do to the basis of his contentions?

And yes, Elizabeth is an extremely easy trace. Bush's trace has also been reported and his family tree published.

Saddam claimed some ancestry of the state Iraq to Mesopotamia. Some nationalistic propaganda many countries would do that. I don't know if he saw himself as and great-grandson of the prophet. Saddam wasn't a religious leader, more or less the opposite. So i strongly doubt your tale.

"his hated enemy leaders" is a typical line that shows your bias. Actually Saddam was the hated enemy of the US Americans and they went to Iraq killing people over there.

Your story of Bush can trace himself to Muhammad and Saddam not is nothing else than Us-American propaganda, a narnananarna towards the enemy Saddam and the enemy Muslims to belittle them.

You forget hereby one thing. Meanwhile US-Americans don't have a long history, the history and past in Iraq is visible, the artifacts are there, the ruins are there, they are on location what was a center of the world for many centuries. From the Saddam point of view would be such genealogy fuss absolutely not necessary.

The Arab or the Muslim world still has their traditions, 3 or 4 generation of a family living in one house and the family or clans stick much more together, meanwhile in the west the postmodern individual is kinda lost and detached from their old traditions and ancestors. Families see each other only for the annual turkey meal or whatever. You miss something and that motivates you to practice ancestry research as vicarious satisfaction.

  3. So if someone regales me with his time in the Army Rangers over a beer in Thailand, but it is a lie, can I get him arrested for impersonating an member of the US Army? There is no political expediency in this decision??? Absolute BS.

The FARC could file a complain that US secret agents impersonating FARC members and planning terrorist activities under that disguise. Maybe a court in Tehran or Rangoon would accept such a claim and demand an arrest and extradition of an US-american suspect who is currently in Thailand.

  4. "the US is now run by a Marxist Muslim. He's an apologist to every country in the world for any perceived sins of our country. He bows before the Saudi King and Emperor Hirohito. "

It's sad to see people who are so obviously unamerican, filled with loathing for their own country. Nationals of other countries might believe they are the norm, they are nothing but a lunatic fringe.

Maybe it is an attempt on irony? Mirroring the Bush basher. As a National of an other Nation i cannot really take it serious. If he is real, he is at least honest. Some of the most 'prolific' Obama fans at TVF write comments that are far worse in the eyes of a national of another country.

And accusing a fellow countryman to be un-.....(file in the respective Nation) is actually one of the most stupid arguments i can imagine.

  5. Does at least one of you consider that your partner made serious sacrifices , compromised and gives up a lot just to be with you?

No 'thank you' in 10 years of a relationship? Really? Would you be able to understand how your partner says thank you? Do you have a clue? How often does your Thai partner complains, despite all your massive sacrifices for them?

Are you really sure that you are able to offer a 'intellectual companionship'? :whistling:

Are you able to appreciate it what it means to be with you? Do you have the framework to conceptualize it?

A look into a mirror will maybe help.

  6. That is going to screw those on Retirement visas. :bah:

Not just for those in retirement, it is bad news all round for everyone in Thailand.

Retirees, the tourist industry, exporters and those who obtain their incomes from abroad. This long lasting economic situation is going to break people. Many will simply not be able to ride this out for the long term.

I cannot see an end to this in sight.

If i read on TVF, the old men on retirement visa don't like it much in Thailand anyway. So its maybe motivates them to go finally home. Nobody lose but win win.

It is great news for people who want go abroad. Holiday in Berlin, Paris, London becomes kinda cheap or just enjoy web-shopping oversee. B)

Not so good for exporters, i would agree. But if you run your business as Import&Export or trade goods for goods everything should be fine. Many contracts are also long term basis fixed month ago and not from day-day. And these traders still know how to make their profit. And if you an importer you have a happy time. Good for them.

Foreign people who made investments when the baht was weaker will not suffer from buyer's remorse.

  7. I always got a chuckle when Saddam Hussein always claimed ancestry to Muhammad, despite having no chain of family to back that, while both Elizabeth and Bush could all trace to Muhammad as an ancestor.  Oh, given the intervening years, it wouldn't be a stretch to guess that Hussein, along with most other Arabs could trace some linkage back to him, it is just that there is no proof for him.

Ermm. Where is the difference that makes one claim something to chuckle meanwhile the other claim should be taken serious with a 'real' proof for direct linkage?

Can you really trace Bush and Elizabeth to Muhammad???

Both things a laughable but actually also plausible in someway without much proof needed in birth and tax registers of the past.

Everyone has 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 greatgreat-grandparents and so on. If we exclude extreme inbreed and uncle-niece, cousin-cousin and similar marriages, the number of ancestors one generation back will double up, always x2. or 2n for n generations.

take an average of 4 generation per century as given it is 400 year back 16 generations 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x=216=65536 greatgreatgreat...- grandparents.

    500 years back =220= 1,048,576

    600 years = 16,777,216

but you cannot avoid that at a certain point the doubling of different ancestors, it will not work out anymore and some greatgreatgreat..grandfather to the left is also the one to the right, because some family members started to marry each other. but fact is if you go enough generations back and you are related to almost everybody and share with somebody else a common grangrandgrand...ancestor what makes this other person to a cousin of xdegree. That wouldn't be much coincidently, but mathematical logically.

But what is won if you are some greatxgrandchild of somebody who is related to someone who had some impact in the history books?

Does it make you that special? Can you be sure that are you blood-related? Who knows if all these greatx-grandmother have been always faithful.

Do you share the same genes? Your number of genes is limited, you have around 3 billion base pairs. to make it easy say around 232 base pairs, half from your father, 231 pairs, 1/4 from your grand father, 230 pairs and so on.

32 generation back (800 years with 4 generation per century) your ancestor gives you only one base pair of your 3 billions base pairs of genetic information.

I always chuckle when people try hard to find some relatives amongst some religious wackos form the mayflower (would be around 0,0015% of your genetic information) or some inbreed royals of the middle ages.

If your are not coming from a family that continuously from generation to generation produce great names, but has as the last 'famous' one a royal some few hundreds of years ago what is the point in that?

I see some sense into claims from what corners of the world the family comes from and what traditions where kept from generation to generation and what stories told from grandparents to grandchildren and so on and that tradition and stories always stayed vivid in the family. But once this this line is interrupted and the memory and the knowledge of some people who lived generations ago is lost, you cannot restored a connection with a search in church registers. That is just a fad.

If your grandparents or greatgreat-grandparents didn't know anything anymore about these ancestors they are total strangers to your family. Better concentrate on the mission that the future generations of your family keep your name 'alive', instead of construct something like a meaningless bloodline into the past.

  8. Last night, Hoolahan said he would willingly return to Scotland. But he then launched a vile attack on his alleged victims in a self-pitying whine. He said: "These girls were a couple of junkies. I was out with friends drinking and these two girls picked me up.

Wonder what his TVF account name is. This defense line to blame the female victims that sounds somewhat familiar. :bah:

Same like Soi Cowboy are for some TVF the place to go. Someone must know him.

  9. Washington would have seen a refusal to extradite as a betrayal so I am only stating the facts. They really wanted this man and I am happy they got him. I also hope he gets the best lawyers and gets a fair trial. Then we'll see.

    :jerk:

I thought the dude who got the Nobel Award forNewcomer of the Year don't think in silly "if you're not with us you're against us" logic. But probably not and it is my mistake to assume that. You are the 'expert'.

Anyway 'Washington' could only expect what it is possible according to the Thai law and not that what they want so bad. Calling any other outcome betray is just patronizing and dominating behavior. You don't make friends with that attitude nor can convince people that they start to love the USA. So don't be surprise if people show you the finger. :P

  10. i agree, they came and got john karr within a few days.

True, but it was thought that he killed a cute little white girl.

I think Bout is only accused of killing half a billion africans.

    (read the irony here everyone)

    No, he is not.

He is suspected of breaking trade embargo's (something in itself a violation of freedom) and delivering arm's to 'non-friendly' nations. From a western stand-point that is.

Now imagine if Russia demanded an American extradited for delivering arms to Kurds in Iraq, revolutionary groups in Iran or...Vietnam 61-75...would the same poster that proclaim that Bout a is a bad man be sheering on that extradition too?

You are asking for thinking two steps ahead and see the bigger picture. Actually easy, but don't expect that those who cheer Bouts extradition are able to follow your argument.

  11. He's going. Which nation is the better friend to Thailand? USA or Russia? Thailand is being forced to choose. It's no contest. They made the right choice.

    post-37101-080441100 1282419615_thumb.jp

So you admit that the judgment is based on Allegiance and not justice?

Hope you don't complain when the same happens in reverse...

Jingthing already stated that any different decision would make Thailand to a betrayer.

But when it was really pure justice without any pressure. As Thailand diplomatic relations to Myanmar, Iran, North Korea and a couple of other countries are quite different from the way the US foreign policy sees these countries a reverse case could be coming soon. Reasons for extradition of US-Americans to these countries will be easy to find. Not everything what US-Americans do is worldwide legal.

Not to extradite him would not have been a pro-Russia decision. Bout could be of any other foreign nationality. The USA vs Russia argumenta fallacy. That is only the silly mindset of an old cold warrior and some xenophobia and anti-Russian sentiments are probably part of it.

  12. I am a danish.

and by the way, Ekstrabladet is a colorfull tabloid paper who lov to make a big story out of nothing.

You must be the jolly joker of Denmark. ...

He lost his leg for your country, the most danger you were in is probably contracting an STD.

What does a Dane in Afghanistan for his country?

And why should that the business of his travel insurance? Would they pay me an immediately trip home if my glasses are broken or my hairdo is ruined?

  13. I am a danish.

I use to go to Thailand and rent a motorbike

I make an insurence every year, and one of the conditions in that is: dont run a motorbike in another country.

everybody know that..so no pity from me.

and by the way, Ekstrabladet is a colorfull tabloid paper who lov to make a big story out of nothing.

He was run over by a scooter and the article nowhere suggest that he was driving a motobike by himself.

But i can imagine that is still not a case for the insurance if his prosthetic leg is broken; probably exluded as pre-existing medical condition and so definitely not a case that the insurance company cheat on him.

  14. Um. Not in the headline during the story or in any of the first few replies do you see the term

"model" used. After awhile it finally comes to light vaguely that it was a

"model" radio control airplane and not quite a radio control aircraft.

Aircraft is something people use to ride around in the air, no?.

That's maybe why you couldn't really refer to an RC model plane as an

"aircraft" Although I'm not sure of that. Anyway the description

of what it was that crashed into the temple was trying as hard as it could

(seams to me) to instill a picture of a full size flying vehicle in the readers mind.

Only after reading the entire story and then even a few posts does it as I said

vaguely emerge that it was a 'model' or miniature toy aircraft.

You mean that the Chalong Remote Control Airplane Club has to be renamed into Chalong Remote Control Miniature Toy Airplane Club?

  15. All governments are hypocrites. I'll have to send a memo to my main girl Hillary to tell her, "They don't like us, they really really don't like us." In any case, the USA position is that this perp had broken US laws, and now he will face those charges in a court of law where he will be able to pay for a world class defense lawyer. You want to politicize this, but ultimately this is going to be a criminal case.

How has he broke US laws if he has not been in the US

I guess the US has worldwide laws that we all must adhere to or else.

I too have many US frineds but the USA's hypocricy for example backing and defending of Israels war crimes on Palestinians you can understand why many around the world hate Americans.

I dont but can understand why many do

Read the second post. It outlines what laws the US feels he broke. Here is an excerpt:

"US prosecutors claim he agreed to the sale with the understanding that the weapons were to be used to attack United States helicopters."

Seems pretty clear to me. His freedom is not worth one life...from any country, much less mine.

Where exactly these helicopter attacks supposed to be happen?

Some could argue that it actually saves life if the numbers of US helicopters are getting reduced.

  16. It's so funny how so many non-Americans are anti-American. It's very obvious that your countries and governments and medias use America as a scapegoat from their own problems and wrong doings even though they followed Bush and whomever else is in charge around like a little puppy dog. It's all just string pulling of course and you guys are the puppets. Don't worry, won't be long now before you are complaining about those terrible Chinese and all their wrong doings.

Nope my simpleton American buddy we dont back our govts. one iota in their wrongdoings and using overly excessive powers, but im starting to feel sorry for the poor American govt with all this victim status on display on this forum.

'We' also don't hate the Chinese or stereotype all non-Americans.

  17. The State Department called in Thailand's ambassador this week to tell him of U.S. concerns about the potential release. And six senior members of Congress -- three Democrats and three Republicans -- issued a letter to the Thai government Wednesday contending that if Bout is freed, he would sell arms to groups that seek to kill Americans

So in other words, the Americans go free killing any nationality ( again how many citizens they killed in Iraq and Afghanistan? ) but if they even suspect that there could be a chance that an american dies you will have to rot in an American jail.

Just wait until they arrest some US-American citizen or government officials on visit in Thailand and deliver them to any other country that wants them for whatever charges there are more than a few states Thailand has diplomatic relation with that could make up some good reason to get them.

  18. Being really negative, aren't you? With proper checks and balances waste is kept to a minimum. Each government will have ideas on what to do, (mostly) that's why people voted for those MP's. No government doesn't work either. To help improve rather than only criticise would be a step in the right direction.

For sure, if there are proper checks and balance but the argument goes 'We Needed A Budget Watchdog - But We Got Toothless Pheu Thai'.

I am not that negative and also not that totally insane trustful in the Democrats govt and believe that they do everything right and are above any critic.

  19. So rather than a puppet of the military, he is a collaborator? - OK - I think it would be pretty difficult to tell the two options apart.

I think as far as the Oxford Uni thing is concerned, you have a good point. I think it would also help to look at the circles he used to hang around in at Oxford - I'm told they were basically the ultra right hoo-rah Henri set.

I believe old Boris what's-his-name the Mayor of London was one of his pals.

Anyhow I'm sure his instincts are to patronise rather than fraternise with the Thai electorate

Evidence to back up you assertions will of course be forthcoming.

Erm ... what do you want here backed up? That Abhisit went to Oxford? That he was a classmate of Boris Johnson? That Boris Johnson isn't a champagne socialist nor working class hero?

The kind relation between the Democrats and the military? That it is indeed somewhat difficult to tell it is being a puppet or collaboration apart?

That Abhisit don't fraternize with the electorate but rather stands for policies of patronizing?

For what you need 'evidence'? Where are exactly your doubts that something of it could not be true?

  20. I assume you are one of those who still insist on seeing a birth certificate ?

Obama can't be that bad. He is the first person ever who got a Nobel Award for the Best Newcomer of the Year.

Funny part is that the so-called birther movement has its prototype in Thailand.

The Democrats started a censure motion that was based on the claim that the then PM was not born in Thailand and an illegal alien and and is therefore not eligible to serve as prime minister. These claims were false, a stupid birther argument, and the then PM proved his Thai Nationality with documents that he had registered to military service in his youth as every Thai man is required to do by law.

This silly and xenophobic censure motion wasn't many years ago in a very distant past during the "heydays" of anti Chinese sentiments and discrimination of Chinese immigrants, but only recently, less than 15 years ago.

Unlike Abhisit, Banharn Silpa-archa (that is the then PM) was born in Thailand and not in China as the Democrats claimed to have "evidence" for. And Abhist could also not provide the document that he registered for military conscription at age 18.

One of the differences is that in Thailand after some proof was given the Dem's stopped. In America the teabaggers are still at it.

And for "And Abhisit could also not provide the document that he registered for military conscription at age 18." you probably have a pointer. More to the point we are deviating from the OP.

You could had ignored that stupid anti Obama rant as off topic. I just tried to drag the discussion back to be more Thailand related and added some interesting trivia.

"Mind you having registered for military service is IMHO not the same as having a Thai birth certificate." - mind you that you are just restarting a stupid birther argument. Take it as fact that Silpa-archa is Thai.

And you know what, the 'teabagger' remind me at the Abhisit friends and Thaksin haters at TVF.
