Great article! I notice that it doesn't specify whether the retirement funds have to be based in Thailand or not. It only says that Life Assurance has to be based here.

I am currently working for an IT company in Bangkok being paid in Baht. I am also contributing to an offshore (Sterling) pension/savings plan (I transfer money from my Thai credit card every month).

My question is: Am I eligable for some Thai tax breaks/reimbursment on this money (Baht) that I am using for my offshore pension?

Any advise would be appreciated.

The problem is that legit DVD's of Thai films rarely have English subtitles, very annoying. I have been trying to buy "shutter" for ages but it does not exist in Thailand with subtitles...

I have a friend who is thinking about moving to Thailand. He is an architect.

He has asked me to find out if his occupation makes him taxable as a "legible" professional, and if so, what difference this makes?...

I have no idea what he is going on about, any takers?

Very true, a good friend of mine (and long term Bangkok) resident recently had dealings with a particular firm here in Bangkok. The shyster lied to his face regarding the product he was trying to sell and basically slagged off all the accounts and plans he already had in place. My friend has since learned that this company has already got somthing of a bad rep for providing mis-information and mis-selling.

I am a qualified PADI instructor now living in Thailand and I have a degree in Chemistry from the UK. I am considering taking the ALST course in Singapore as I would like to work offshore in Thailand (or SE Asia).

Does anyone know what the employment possibilities are in this field here in Thailand? I don't have any offshore experience...
