  1. If he is a troll, well it was a nice story lol.

To be honest I thought of myself when reading that. At 14 I traveled 3,500 kms without much more than two pair of shorts and no money. I did have enough for the bus fare though! lol When I got to my destination I slept on the wharfs until someone would give me a job...A long two weeks, but it was worth it.

I agree with the troll / poster. No money no stress and no boundary's, total freedom! ................ BUT, the downside is no food!

Make sure you take a plastic bag and some rope.. the two essentials in gathering water and if there is none, you have the rope!

good luck if your really doing it, if not thanks for the memories!

  7. That is good news!

so many of the developers have lost millions of Bahts worth of wiring from guys like this. Last year a development at Loch Palm lost over 4 million Bahts worth of underground cable over a week end.

the guy on Sakdidat Rd should also be held responsible, as he would clearly know what these guys were up to.. receiving stolen goods?

  8. Within 10 minutes from Laguna, heading towards Heroines Monument, you have "Lady Pie" the best pies I have ever had in any country. They do a few pastries and I think they do bread also, but not 100 percent sure.

Im pretty sure the bread to you will get at Laguna will be the best in the area. Made daily on site Im told.

  9. The Sheraton and Laguna area are nice places to stay, the beach is pretty good, but not the best on the Island. The beach is very clean, compared to most and the beach chairs are nice and the stall holders friendly. If you are looking for relaxing on the beach and having yourself pampered, I would say this is the best resort / complex on the Island. You also have great beaches with nobody on them within 5 minutes from your door. Naithon Beach is superb, big trees, nice local restaurant and absolutely free of tourists (until this post lol). I have been there many an afternoon and did not see one person walking along the beach in an 8 hour period. You also have a great boutique bars close by and some great restaurants, just outside the front gate.

If you are planning to stay there, you will like the experience surely. good luck.

Karon beach is not even in the equation of a nice beach IMO as there is zero trees, which means zero shade.

  10. shhhhh :o

Chang Mai, you went to the wrong Kan Eng. That's the tourist branch. We go to Kan Eng 2 (about 150m along Chofa East, away from roundabout, and turn right off the main road. Well sign posted) and we have had great food at a very reasonable cost. This place is full of Thais in the evening. Great setting & views.
  11. Hi, Im looking to have some footage shot on a broadcast quality camera. I have the camera, I just do not know how to operate it. (-:

If you are in Samui, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya or places nearby, PM me and I will let you know the footage I want shot. I am putting together a holiday DVD and have an editor if you cannot do that side of the job. This would be a paid job ofcourse.

If you have your own camera, that would be a bonus, but not required.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from anyone interested.

  12. This poll doesn't take into account people who are family oriented, or own their homes. People who spend money on insurance for their family, schooling costs, vehicle and home maintenance and insurance for both. Doctor and dental costs, fuel costs, and utilities.

Somehow the pension amount gets spent, without going to bars, much less the women rental fees. If I was still getting the same income as when I was working, we wouldn't even be here. I can understand a single guy coming here on vacation and spending 200K/MO for a while, indulging themselves partying. I cannot however understand someone living here, even with a mortgage for a very nice home, spending this amount. Furthermore, anyone throwing that kind of money around on a regular basis in the LOS, has to be mentally imbalanced, or making it up. I cannot see how anyone, who is so financially irresponsible, can have any money to start out with, unless they inherited it, and don't know what it is to work for it. Furthermore, I cannot see what it is that you are doing here in the first place, if you can afford to throw 200K/Mo around, there has to be other places to visit and party in besides the LOS. It's OK here, but I have traveled to a few other countries( not 3rd world) and all are more beautiful than here. You can party equally well in most, with much better facilities, infrastructure, laws, easier visa, medical care, should you be drunk and hit a tree, or have a heart attack due to overdosing on viagra while trying to hump some young thing. Maybe your just too loaded to find your way back out of the country.

mentally imbalanced? making it up? financially irresponsible? man, thats a bit rough.

When you have been to all the other countries you end up back in Thailand. I hope me being here is ok with you? :o

you sound very sour.. might be time for you to rethink YOUR life and not worry about everyone elses. :D

  13. Big difference renting a car than renting a house or condo. Big difference renting a house on a flecking mountain versus a house on a normal street or soi. But we are all adults here, except one. lol.

I choose to not have my head up where the sun don´t shine. Due diligence for any building on a mountain is common sense.

    Ok lets have a poll!,

who does due dilligence on structural footings and a survey of the forest reserve, or private land, if they are going to rent a house???

also, who believes the renter is also at fault and should carry some of the blame?

love to know if where my head is, isnt so cloudy.

  14. To be honest, I think the plasma has a better picture.. It maybe just the quality of the DVD's Im buying, but I cant seem to get a perfect pic even when playing DVD's from Europe. The quality is great compared to a "dinosaur tv", but it still bleeds a bit (so to speak).

one thing that may help you with "bleeding" is to use component cables between the player and the TV. and also check to see if the DVD player has a setting to tell it it is playing through a High Def monitor. this has been a problem with nintendo Wii's , but if you go into the settings you can make it much better on a big LCD.

Thanks! I will have a look at that. :o

  15. lol, ok, so we are none the wiser!

edit: one thing I did notice was, Carefour was cheap in relation to Lotus or most other shops.

I paid 49,000 Baht for the 40 inch Samsung and I got a free Samsung DVD player and surround sound.. Great sound.

I saw the same TV in Lotus for the same price with no extras.

    Yep,

Ive noticed that in most cases prices are the same in different stores, but there are 'sweeteners' dependant on certain products

yeah, the dvd and surround was in the catalog for 11k (their catalog :o ), so I was happy with the deal..

Ok, lets hear from someone who does have a clue. :D

  18. What is the difference between Plasma TV and LCD TV?

What are the benefits/advantages of one over the other?

Speaking to some of these dummies in the malls, they appear to be contradicting each other, so I thought I would try on here :D

I just have bought a new lcd tv and asked the guy similiar questions to your's.

I was told that plasma tv's use over twice as much electricity and they dont have a very long life span, due to how the screen is made. (plasma needs to be re "plasmatised"?? :o

LCD's are more expensive, but just on those two points, it was clear for me which one to buy..

Then again, he might of just been trying to sell me the more expensive one out of the two. :D:D

Interested to know from others, to see if he was right??!! :D
