  1. a lot of that could be weeded out id say at least 30k coffee gifts alcohol donations, health insurance( hes 33 yrs old?)

    So?

33 year olds get ill and have accidents too, bro. You do NOT want to be without health insurance here.

Won't be expensive for someone that young but the bill for even a short hospitalization here can make one's eyes water.

On the subject of living costs, I compare my outgoings in Asoke, Bangkok to those in West London and difference is night & day. Literally 40% of the cost - that's a no-brainer for me.

My spend here is 40K rent (large condo, Asoke), 10K utilities, 3.5K health insurance and 15-20K food. Booze, negligible; No stipends; no hoes

For ME, Bangkok is dirt cheap

    a great sadness

  2. hold on!

had the polish hubby wandered off to look at the katoeys? if he's then 'on his own' as far as the lb's

are concerned he could be viewed as a potential customer. how long was he away from his wife?

what was said between the lb and him ? enter rampaging mrs poland, what was said by her to illicit such a response from the lb?

these and other questions will never be answered

  3. 47, retired/unemployed and with an income of 30 to 50K?

Why did I go so wrong in my life?

Should have met you before to teach me the secret of life.

Anyway, why don't you consider the sticks in Issan......enough money for you to go along........

My my Costas, you really need to be taught. Money is not the secret of life, but proper planning may be. Any 47 year old should be able to manage USD 900-1600/mo if they have: a decent investment portfolio after 25-30 years of investment, a 25-30 year military/police/fireman pension, a state-sponsored disability pension, or a pension from any other organization which offers 20 or 30 year retirements without age requirements. Where did you, and apparently so many others, go wrong?

although slightly off topic one wonders how western govts of all shades are going to fund pensions, particularly for the millions and millions of

former public service workers of all kinds, army, police, fire, national health, local govt, prison staff, etc etc + colossal welfare benefits system come 30 yrs or so?

  4. no cycling do weight training, regular weights increase testosterone, supplement with lechithin, zinc pincolate + vit b12, L-arginine, ginseng, and a good all round vitamin and mineral supplenment, a little while before sex stimulate yourself by watching some good porn (of course not to the point of coming) abstain from sex for several days before your actual event, you will find i hope better production of your 'product'

keeping your balls cool will also help, wear boxers or go commando,

The bar scene around Soi Post Office and Yamoto has been dead for about 10 years now. There's plenty of cheap guesthouses there and a few regular drinkers still stick to the bars they been drinking in for years. But the scene has moved to the area around LK Metro. Soi Yamoto has a few lady boy bars and Stringfellows Go Go and it would not surprise if this is the direction it's heading in. I know these Sois well. I don't seem to recall running into Russians there, except those cutting thru to Second Rd from the beach.

I really don't know what you are whining about. Prices around Soi Buakhow and Soi Diana are still very reasonable. I will be back in 2 weeks and staying at an old time favourite guesthouse for 500 Baht a nite, fan room, high season. Same daily price all year round. Still plenty of good decent bars where I pay 50 Baht for a cold Tiger and a great variety of eating places at very reasonable prices. I cannot wait to get back. But if it's not your scene, or too expensive, or too many Russians why don't you go somewhere where you may be happy.

You seem to be reading a lot into what I say that I didn't mean.

I don't mind the Russians, as the women are pleasant to look at on Walking St.

I get an AC room on Buakhao for 500.

I have been trying to answer the OP, with reasons why less farangs may be going there.

Have to agree with you there. Best eye candy around.

its all about taste in the end, when I was there end September to Mid October the Russian girls were often skinny, pale, very ordinary not at all like those stunners on Russian dating sites,

and in fact most of them were about as attractive as the average thai bar girl, that is not very attractive

  6. Pattaya is built on the sex industry and the merchandise being sold today has a lot to be desired. Most is defective or way out of date. Perhaps my standards are a little high but Pattaya sure has declined over the years. I think the best years have come and gone.

Thats what it was built on. Then enter all the big commercial developers and big touring business riding piggy back on that. These Asians and Russians and Thais that make up the majority of tourists today seem to be oblivious to the declining quality of the over all environment in Pattaya: Traffic , construction, pollution ,

garbage thrown all over the place. All the crumbling incompetently constructed infrastructure everywhere. Then all the scams and neck less snatches by local lowlifes. There should be no expectations of the future of Pattaya being anything more than a congested seedy third string seaside town in decline.

After eight years as a property owner in Patters, I have to agree with most of this - except the future.

There are several potential scenarios which could be game changers.

    1. The Hi-Speed Rail to Bangkok: If this much-discussed project is ever completed, then Pattaya would become a suburb of Bangkok, and that would have a major impact, for obvious reasons. Right now, the connections to Bangkok are limited to the two hour road trip, which makes a commute unthinkable.

    2. Legalization of Gambling: It is no secret that gambling is very popular in Asia, and if Patters ever had legalized gambling, the influx from China and elsewhere would be massive. Since Patters has been the Las Vegas of the sex industry for some time, it might as well go all the way.

    3. Finally, my personal favorite would be International Arts Festivals of various kinds - Film Festivals, Theatre Festivals, etc. Artists have gentrified seedy neighborhoods around the word , and , if given some fiscal incentive, an influx of artistic talent from around the world could do wonders for the city's image. Indeed,

this makes a lot more sense than the current Tourism Minister's hare-brained scheme to make Pattaya a sports center. After all, athletes do not like seediness. Artists, on the other hand, thrive on seediness! smile.png

    Ah well - one can always dream! smile.png;

gambling, fantastic, just imagine those sea side hotels in Pattaya and Jomtien with large casinos!! it would bring in so much money it would defy belief, especially from the crazed gamblers of China,

also many tourists from USA, Europe, Australia etc who love a bit of roulette and blackjack, of course it would be a disaster for many local thais particularly the bar girls who after

visiting a beach road card reader/fortune teller would head for the casinos with their nights/weeks earnings expecting to win 000's of baht, especially after seeing the occasional lucky

winner, of course they would all lose in the end, but nevertheless it would be a huge earner for Pattaya, bring it on

  7. trav cheques still an option despite the charge, i took £600 of tc's in £200 x 3 so charge was only £9 (3x150 baht) hardly the end of the world for the safety of the cheques if you lost them or were burgled, i took my balance of spending money in cash and ny santander debit card for any emergency, just make sure your hotel room has a safe, i know they are not 100% but are preferable to those safes some places have in the lobby

    Cheers

  8. she could do with a few good meals never mind boobs, why lose all the muscle tissue in her arms and legs? girls like that look hugely

under nourished not sexually attractive at all except to a small proportion of men, as for the boobs, im sure some members

in Pattaya will remember a gal who used to work at a bar on the end of a connecting little soi between sois 7 and 8 a few years ago, hers made this girls

    look tiny.

  9. In my experience it is the massage girl who is keen and enthusiastic about sexual extras. Its a great way for them to make money. They are not forced into it.They can walk out of the front door anytime they want.Lets get real.

exactly whats stopping them turning themselves into a local police station or are the ladies actually chained down when they are not massaging?

codswallop, "there's always a choice," Sartre

  10. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

I remember about 3 years ago they were openly selling child porn on beach road Pattaya. There was a video of a police man getting his kick back out side one the big shopping centers in Pattaya from one these porn sellers. Coming from the West I felt disgusted even seeing the front of the dvds that were on sale.

You should also be equally disgusted that it could well have been a Westerner that took the video and made the covers.........................thumbsup.gif

Child porn is not specifically a Thai thing, but I will admit that like yourself, I find it hard to get my head round how they openly sell it in some areas.

ummm do you think it has anything to do with oriental gents from Thailand, Cambodia, China, Japan and Korea etc being users both physically and

via photograph film media etc of children and child porn

  11. street prostitution which i presume mainly is associated with Beach road? they will simply move in town, via the soi's connecting beach road to

2nd road and also thence to soi buokao and then 3rd road, you could easily for example imagine a long line of girls/ladyboys walking along soi 1 or 2

Likewise Jomtien there are any number of soi's prossys could move to

new bars would spring into being along with the ones already there, bar owners need not give them a wage, they would get ladydrinks off potential customers

before bar fine, if questioned the bar owner would have no formal connection with the girl, she could simply be a customer in the bar herself as such.

Crime? just how many street prossy crimes against tourists really occur or is it exaggerated out of all proportion, is this same policy going to be enforced all over Thailand. what about the countless establishments used by Thai men virtually unknown to western tourists/mongers

just how many police are going to be allocated to this, whilst nasty violent crime continues.

Whats happening is Thailand is fascism pure and simple, tourists will go elsewhere

  12. Having lived in Jomtien for several years...and having a propensity for an enjoyable massage at least once per week...I can tell you from experience that at least half of the massage parlors I went to were fronts for prostitution...some girls even seemed offended if you actually told them you needed a massage first...and talk about the other later...

One soi full of massage parlors in Pattaya City specializes in oral...

Jomtien soi X has attractive young women that all specialize in oral...

So I do not believe one must go "undercover" to expose prostitution in the Pattaya...Jomtien area...

Condo massage parlor...prostitution against the rules...yet they will go to your room to give a massage...;and strip off their clothing before saying hello...

Soi X is that Soi 10?

probably soi 5 or 6, where yellow house is/was once the working place of pattaya;s most successful (thanks to recommendations off other forums)

massage parlour lady, thankfully i got her before she retired, simply amazing

  13. What is the rough count of Thai sex workers in Betong? Most of their tourist revenue is from sex trade for sure. Are they counting the sex trade money?

Betong may or may not have sex trade during Pretty Yingluck time as PM.

But under Gen Prayuth, anything illegal has been stop.

Including sex trade, as Thailand is a Buddhist countries.

What ever trade the Islamic people offer I will not comment, but Thais will not deviate from Buddhist teaching on sex trade.

BTW, the first thing you notice in Betong is a large statue of Buddha. No statue of prophet Mohammad can be seen anywhere in town AT ALL.

No one can stop the sex trade in Thailand and if you could the tourist industry would collapse. The pristine beaches are history, the temples? seen one you have seen them all, the towns? nothing to see here, they either look as if they have half been destroyed or half being rebuilt, nothing comparable with the clean and beautiful ancient towns and cities of Europe, what remains are the laughing fun girls in the bars.

may i say that is one of the most refreshingly honest posts i have ever seen on TV

    cheers wap
