  5. i'm looking for a couple of rai of land with nice mountain and nature views within a couple of hours drive of Khon Kaen. I really like the area just west of Chum Phae just before you get to Naam Nao national park but i'm open to other areas.

i'd like to be close to but not in a village. i like nature and lots of space and no noisy neighbours close by but the wife is 'glua phee' of course! also ideally i'd like a small stream or river near the property or at least guaranteed access to water. if there's a small Thai house on it, great but not necessary.

obviously public road access and electricity is a must. phone line close by would be great.

if you know of anything please PM me with pictures. i can come look next week if anything looks interesting.

    thanks, steve

Hi Steve,Some nice land on edge of town(Chumphae) Views of local Mountain (?) Good faland pub ,and good falang tucker in town,Swimming pool.Good concrete road to land site ,power on street.Quiet area,+_ 3 kms from town. I can try and get land size/price if you are interested. Cheero Dave A

  6. As for the first question, 5 year renewal can be done up to 90 days before expiration and should not let it expire. It's only the 1 year to 5 year renewal that requires the license to expire first. Others familiar with Pattaya's specific requirements on documents will need to answer the other questions.

An interesting aside on letting the 5 year licence expire. I got it wrong and renewed mine about a week after the old one expired but rather than having problems I actually got 6 years rather than 5. My current licence expires on 25th May 2015 believe it or not, as they appear to renew for 5 years from your NEXT birthday and mine had passed the week before!! :)

HI, My 5 year thai license has just expired, but I am told by my wife that I cannot re new as I am too old at 79.Anybody know about age requirements? Thanks

  7. Actually I am interested in this, as we have a nice lake in our estate and it'd be good to make proper use of it!

Phuket is a little far for a looksee though, shame. Any good online resources that I can check out or places that sell gear in Bangkok?

Hi,!,I have a ton of RC gear I,d like to sell due to failing eyesight, RC TX/RX ,servos, batteries, chargers, books etc etc.REALLY good prices to clear the gear rather than throw out.Im up in Chumphae(Khon Kaen) but am willing to "ship" by post. Let me know.

  8. My wife grows orchids and a few other items plus on the land we have pineapples, bananas, jackfruit, pomelos, custard apples red and green, papaya and among some others is this item.

It is about 25 cm in diameter and about 20cm tall and it grows on some sort of vine but my wife cannot remember what it was she planted ages ago and I have no idea.

Can anyone help me on this?

  10. Hi :D Info P;ease. Is there a bus/Skytrain connection twixt the two airports? How to get fron one to thuther ? Thanks ,in advance. :D

Do you mean Don Mueang airport? Morchit is the northern bus station :)

Hi Pzet,Yes,indeedy.Ol Don Mueang, but I shall be arriving by bus from Issan. :D

For Morchit to Don Mueang airport the most convenient would be a taxi. Should take about 30 minutes from Morchit-Kamphaengphet Road via Don Mueang Expressway to the airport.

For Morchit to Swampy you could use either BTS-skytrain (Morchit station) or MRT-subway (Chatuchak station). You need to go downtown to Sukhumvit to catch the airport express bus to Swampy (Nana - airport express bus station).

Both stations, BTS and MRT are quite far away from the Morchit bus station.

Bear in mind, if traveling with huge luggage, you will need to carry it over the flyover as well as the stair in BTS or MRT since most of them don't have an escalator. Taxi lift from BTS/MRT station is an option.

Regarding shuttle bus from Don Mueang to Swampy I am not sure; maybe someone else can answer this.

OK Thanks for that.Im trying to find details of the 554 bus route,(Optomistic??)

The most respectable and genuine Thai massage in Nongkhai can be had at the Healthy Garden.

If you are standing outside of Nobbies, head towards the Indochina market and before you enter, turn right and walk past the Thasadej Bar and about 30 metres on your right you will find the Healthy Garden. They have small curtained of areas that will ensure you are not on show.

I have been going here for 6 years now and they are the best in Nongkhai.

Foot massage 180 baht for 1 hr

Traditional thai 150 baht for 1 hr

The Grand hotel is overpriced and to be honest not all that good.

There is a recently opened massage shop just past Nobbies on the left hand side. I went there recently as they were too busy in Healthy Garden. It wasnt too bad but not as good as HG.

There are numerous establishments around Nongkhai but if its genuine you want then Healthy Garden is where its at.

If you are wanting any other kind of massage with extras then PM me and I can also let you know.

    Hope this helps

Hi Go to the Immigration Office,THEY,LL rub you up the wrong way!! :D

  13. More info.

Since they gave you a 60 day extension it sounds like they gave it to you because you are married to a Thai. You haven/t said which part of the grandfather clause you fit into.

If married to a Thai you can now show 400,000 baht in the bank for 2 months again (not a joint account.though).

If you are grandfathtered I suggest you print out the police order in Thai and have somebody mark 2.22 (6) and show it to immigration.

Thai version of police order: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/post-a70478-...-2551.pdf.html/

Hi Ubonjoe,I am most grateful for your reply, however,I cant "bring up" the police order!Still I will cast about to find a helpful Thai!, It is reassuring to know "Grand dad" is alive and well! Thanks again.

  14. Hi I have just returned from a 370 km round trip to Nong Khai Immigration.Despite "good " reports of their improved system,I found their office just as chaotic and disorganised as ever.True, there IS a "Queue"number system .but it dosent work.I got ticket number 11 the "TV" screen showed 38,and I was called in about 10 minutes!/ This is my 20 year here, and I have enjoyed the "Grandfather" clause to date. Today I was told "NO visa, you dont have enough" money" ??? When asked about the Grandfather clause,I was told"Dont matter if you are a grandfather "!!?? Go to Laos and get a visa."I was given(?) a 2 month "chop" .and told not to come back!! IS THE GRANDFATHER CLAUSE STILL VALID??? On return home home I phoned the Immigration office at Bangkok.Eventually ,I asked this question, after much giggling and Musak The seemingly 15 year old advised that I should go to Laos and ask there>!! Is this the LOS Or Disneyland ???? HHHHHEEELLLLPPPP !

  15. That is amazing maybe we have stumbled onto a previously unknown medical fact, or maybe only right faced sufferers of BP go on to read TV, and all the left faced ones go to that other place ssshhh you know where.

By joe, you've cracked the puzzle.

HI gUYS I had the Palsy way back in the army, the Doc said it was probably caused by the draught when travelling in a truck. However,Tucked into the Aldershot sick-pit,I was advised to rest and massage my face,When I was shaving I found that the warmth and vibration from my electric razor did the trick!! Cleared up in a week or so and no problems since.(Dont try it with a Gillette!!) :o

  16. Just 30 per cent Thai men, 16 per cent women sexually satisfied: survey

Talking with a certain young lady on the topic of sexual satisfaction, certain sexual actions and moves in love-making were rated on a score of 1-10.

Kissing, penetration, massage and a variety were covered.

What came out top? Her receiving oral sex. She rated that 20 !!

So they maybe need a tongue hardening drug :o

i hear if you just suck on the Viag pill, and not swallow, your tongue gets hard for 4 hours. Never tried it and quite honestly, sounds more like something a 'Tom' would do.

  17. 7 students killed when their vehicle smashed by train

Buri Ram: -- Seven students were killed and many others were injured when their vehicle was cut into two by a speeding train Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the accident happened at 4 pm at the train crossing in Ban Nong Saeng village in Tambon Lamplaimas of Buri Ram's Lamplaimas distirct.

Police said the truck, which was modified into a student vehicle, was cut into two parts by the Bangkok-Si Sa Ket train.

All I can say is "what a pity"

I have just traveled 1,250 km's around the north and I would have witnessed dozens of life threatening acts of dangerous driving.

Thai's have goot to be the most "brain dead people" when it comes to driving.

Why do you think that there has never ever been a Thai who has made it in F1, Moto GP or anything else which requires a bit of brains behind the wheel.

I"m afraid my sympathy stocks are all used up for 2009 (the only event to stir me this year has been Santika) :o
