  1. Briton says Thai woman dumps him after getting his Bt17 million

A 63-year-old Briton called for help from the authorities to force a Thai woman to return his money nearly Bt17 million after she chased him out of her house.

Stephen Jones said he had met the woman in Pattaya in 2001 and decided to sell all of his assets in England and gave the money to her to buy a house and plots of land in Kalasin to live with her.

But the woman chased him out of the house two months ago after she had got all of his money.

He said he became broke and wanted his money back so that he could return to his homeland.

Kalasin chief public prosecutor said the woman could not yet be charged with cheating because the two had got married.

He said the Kalasin public prosecutor office would investigate to see if the assets had been bought with Jones' money or not and would see if Jones had willingly given the assets to the woman.

He said it was possible that Jones could sue the woman for equal divisions of the assets.

If this man can prove it was his money that paid for the property and land he could possibly have a case.

I don't believe that he would have brought all that money in his suitcase when he arrived here and so the chances are that he will have hopefully made Bank Transfers to her account which can then be checked and proved beyond doubt that it was his money that was used.

I know quite a few cases where this has happened and the foreigner has in fact received his money back after the said property has gone to public auction because, of course, no foreigner can own a house and land in Thailand, except in certain circumstances. If he is actually married to her, he still has a chance of at least getting half of his investment back through the Thai Courts.

As for most of you flaming this guy. Take a look at yourselves first, why are you here? How many times has this happened to you?

This guy is 63 years old and good for him, he got up and did something to improve his quality of life. Yes, it's all gone t*ts up but at least he tried.

What can he expect back home? Retired at 60, sounds like he hasn't a wife or too much family who want him around - so living alone. Go to the pub on the weekends, sit on the same bar stool, listen to the same conversation that was going on last week only to come to the same conclusion this week. Or maybe, the highlight of his week, get a cuff around the ear from the bar girl for saying 'you look beautiful tonight' and being told he's a dirty old man for saying it! WOW! Quality of Life or what!!!

On top of all that, paying extortionate prices for any entertainment, food, drinks, clothes, bills and taxes and freezing your n*ts off all at the same time. Very nice!

The best of luck to him. I hope he gets some sort of satisfaction from the courts because I bet that money was harder to find than to lose.

What you say is true, joskydive, but please, come on. One needs to be a little more careful than that. I'm only mid 30es, and it really got difficult for me to make contact with new girls here. 10 years ago, it was easy and smooth.

Will I think that any newly acquainted young woman here will love me in 30 years? Because of what? My charm? My fat belly? My alcohol abuse? My retiredness? You have to somehow keep an eye on reality.

  2. I think most of what has been said on this topic is true. And the idea to make his problem public might not be a bad one.

I even trust my Ex-GF with my life, and she knows she can trust me just as much, but I know very well, her family will always come first. But being a good girl as opposed to a Pattaya girl (to avoid using the word prostitute) she informs me of all plans.

I even owed her 200,000 at some point. That's long fixed. Not all Thais are bad, not all falangs are good.

Just a little hint: if you are old, fat and ugly, just ask yourself: does she really love ME?

    :o

only if shes fat old and ugly also ! :D

Yes, well, lucky enough for us silly ATM's, Thais don't like anything over 18 and not looking like a cadaver. Whiter than white she must be.

  4. I have never met this unfortunate man and but I think those that have added to his problems by showering him with insults and unwelcome jibes posted on this site need to get a life.

They all see to be so "streetwise" and are experts on the subject of thai people, reading between thelines I suspect in order to gain their expertise of Thai ladies they have one plently of "research" in Pattaya and such places, so it seems o me that they perhaps are no better than the thai ladies they are so critical of.

They majority of men visiting Pattaya and such places are usually taking advantage of uneducated and extremely poor women and having set the example it should be no suprise when on occassions the tables are turned.

I do not suggest this is the situation in respect of this posting as neither I or anyone else knows both sides of the story, but wat I want to ask all of you who are so critical of thai women is what the hel_l are you doing in thailand?

Teaching? Preaching? Or otherwise there improving their lot?

Cheap shots come from cheap people in my experience.

    roy :o

So, royngqrtpflt, what exactly are you adding to the subject, except that we are all cheap, and you, in conclusion, expensive?

    :D:D

  5. Hope he at least got some good mileage out of her...

    Hehehehehe

Any guy who marries a pattaya prostitute

where did it say she was a prostitute ?

Pattaya and prostitute are synonyms my dear.

Steve happens to be a friend of mine and he's been totally screwed by his ex. He had built a beautiful house, basically a large freeform pool with the house built around it. In the back were ponds with islands with various orchids and tropical plants. His ex's family has now moved in and basically turned it into a cesspit. The one thing that has always pissed me off about the attitudes here is that people who come to Thailand should never trust their wives. Where I grew up, it was a given that you trusted your wife 100%. I've been married 3 times, once to a Korean for ten years who due to military commitments divorced amicably and I still miss. My second wife was Thai whom I married to ensure a job and who preceded to relieve me of 15 million Baht. Really stupid!!

My present wife of 12 years is also Thai and we have two great sons and I would be totally lost without her. I trust her and her family 100%. I had nothing when we married, but have now kicked it up to about 150,000 a month. Sorry about all the rambling, but Steve and I grew up in the same kind of environment where you trusted people. It is an extreme shock when you come to a place where most people are not honest.

I don't feel sorry for the bugger. Go to Pattaya, don't realize that you are one in 1,000,000,000 falangs chasing girls on, forgot the name, walking street or so. Then give her all your money, leaving you totally unprotected.

After that, wonder why that young woman didn't really love you after all.

And for all those who say Thais can't be trusted - BS - my GF and I share an account for 5 years already. We're not even married. I'd just not put all my money into it. For some reason.

  6. No politcal bombing in Thailand has ever been solved. I guess this one will be the same, and as with all the others those the message is aimed at will know who sent it and why.

    ---------------------

    That's an amazing statistic!

Is there another country where no political bombing has never been solved?

I guess you don't know where that statistic has been pulled out of.

  7. We're in a third world country with politicians who have absolutely no clue how to satisfy the people (Thakswhatever got them happy with his 100 Baht distributions, wow, great politician).

This country has a huge potential, and I stress on HUGE, Thai people are smart and friendly. They are just so eternally uneducated.

Nothing will change until this country actually learns that outside Thailand is not Disney land.

  8. Yes. I wanted to hear what people would say about my comment. My son was killed by a drunk driver. Of course I don't want to see innocent by-standers killed, but a lot of drivers here are animals.

I'm sorry for your loss. Yet, to me it's not a good idea, to come up with posts like that when somebody just lost his/her life. Some people stated that they knew the victim, and for all we know, a family member might even be reading this forum. Imagine how bad that person feels about your little "experiment".

I've been driving cars and motorbikes myself for years here in Bangkok, I find it rather easy to get along. Traffic is so dense that hi speed is not very often possible anyway. And unlike us super-hero drivers with licenses thak took months to get, we change lanes within half a second because we see that in Formula 1, Thais tend to do all changes a lot more smoothly.

  9. Well then, they (the wreckless drivers) deserve all they get.

Whenever we (my Thai wife & I) we hear a skid and honking of horns, we hope for a crashing sound and blood and guts spread everywhere.

Sorry, but Thailand has hardened us. Even she (being a Thai) said that she wouldn't help or phone an ambulance for w*nkers in such conditions.

Som nam naa is her buzzword.

OK. Let the comments about us being heartless basta*ds roll from all you compassionate folks!!

Of course, A (at least you know what you are)

Those reckless passengers in Taxi cabs and reckless innocent bystanders deserve all they get, huh. You both are well together. You'll deserve all you'll get.

  10. And again you are moving the goalposts...

I got carried away by the other guy and by you, sorry.

To go back to the initial statement, I have no clue what the guy is complaining about. We foreigners only marry either the dark skins or the really old ones (over 18) and those with a diploma. So why does he care? Politicians...

  11. You are incorrect - SOME countries do the same. Not 'WE'. Or 'ALL' of our homecountries.

Fine, name me one Western country where it's really easy for a Thai to go to and work. I'll proove you wrong with a single google search and a click on that country's embassy link.

I get the impression that some people here bash on Thais just because they don't have proper jobs / work permits / visas / lawyers. Spending your time WITH NOTHING BUT drinking and with other recreational funs won't make you be loved in any country.

There are certainly 1,000 things I don't like in Thailand myself, but there comes a time when you have to ask yourself why you're here or come here. It's easy. We accept those things we don't like, because those we like overweigh.

And to conclude, pleeeeease, also name me one country that didn't have at least one politician saying something blatantly stupid in this year. It's their jobs.

    Firstly, what is your country?

As an Australian with a Thai wife I have not found it overly difficult.

Sure there is a lot of paperwork. My wife has found jobs quite easily. Sure there are language barriers which stop her from getting many jobs until her English improves. But that is to be expected.

So all you're doing is confirming what I said. It's a lot of paperwork here, so it is in the EU where I come from, so it is in the US and very much so (they just can't handle the illegals but that's another issue), and I went to Aus with GF, almost same paperwork but probably a little friendlier, that's true, congrats to Aussies to be that welcoming, but still a really long procedure to go through.

I myself fly into all Western countries without even thinking of doing 1 single paper/visa/whatever. I can't remember if it was the UK or US, but they even accepted me when I had forgotten my passport (only ID), quite a long time ago. But those are all Democratic countries. Asia is far away, different rules. Just get over it.

The point I'm trying to make, no need to bash on Thais for doing things like this, wherever you go you need proper paperwork and you can go ahead.

  12. You are incorrect - SOME countries do the same. Not 'WE'. Or 'ALL' of our homecountries.

  13. Really typical xenophobic nonsense. I really enjoyed the writer's concern about possible overcharging of tourists being caused by the foreign/western ownership of businesses. :o

Agreed.........xenophobic to the extreme. If we had a brain, we would all get together and demand that Thais living abroad be treated the same way--in terms of visa/business rules--by our respective governments as we are being treated by the Thai government. Can you imagine what would happen if we did that and our legislators passed equivalent visa/business laws and applied them to Thais living abroad? The shit would hit the fan and eyes would open!

I don't know what open arm countries you guys come from, but one thing is for sure - you never tried to get a visa for your GF / wife to show her how it's back at your home. School certificates (master degree helps), medical certificates (well, easy here, but still), 2 years proof that she didn't work anywhere near a bar, and the list goes on!

Yeah we should have a brain and KNOW that we already do the same!

  14. From what i can see, the driver overtaking is to Blame, this happens all to often in Thailand, here in Samui, many cars and trucks (yes Trucks) are always overtaking on hills, blind corners and the best one is one there is on coming traffic with a flash of the highlights to say F%^k off i am coming through

Asoke has a lane that is to be used in the other direction during certain hours. You don't want to be in a taxi at switching times there! I nearly wet myself twice already when they started the headlight fights without slowing down at all.

    RIP and sorry

  15. was badly injured after a cable holding the elevator carrying his car snapped sending the lift plummeting from the second floor to the ground.

A drop of two floors to the ground level.... I wonder what the results will be from the 91st floor of the Ocean 1 Tower Condo being built... :o

or for that matter, any other high-rise condo building... good luck to all those that reside in them.

Thanks I live on the 20th floor, and the noises coming from above the cabins are scary. And very similar to the previous poster but in Fortune, I was in an elevator that made a full, very uncomfortable stop around floor 12 and then went to floor 30 to reset itself I guess.

  16. I like how the rescue guy in the other thread was so proud over getting another guy so good in the head with a plank of wood in their fight.

I wonder if that guy needed to be rescued. if he did, would the first guy then have turned around and started hauling him into his truck since he 'was in his area'?

I couldn't help myself but really enjoy your post. Great question.
