  2. Lost his hand... ********uck!!!! :bah:

So they've gone up from guns to bombs. Brilliant.

...and that is happening in a peace loving, "smiling" Buddhist country. :(

A statement like that, is beyond simplistic. It is childish in it's naivety. Surely Thailand has less violent crime than most countries. We are all watching with concern, as there are more and more incidents like this one. It appears that the youth culture is alot less peaceful than their parents. Of course one could argue that this is a worldwide phenomenon. Drugs may be part of the problem. What does Buddhism have to do with it? Because a country is Buddhist, the people are supposed to be the embodiment of perfection? What kind of foolishness is this? Where does a statement like that come from? Do you hate Buddhists? I have found the vast majority of them to be delightful people. Do you hold Christians to the same standard? They are peace loving people. So they have some criminals, and some hooligans. Does that implicate the entire population? Please consider your words before defiling an entire people with silly chatter.

oh dear some one got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning

  3. Hi guys

I have been living here for the past 5 years with my Thai girlfriend and have decided to get married and then return to the UK and get a marriage visa, now the problem is I have a slight overstay about 3 months so I need to get this sorted before hand.

What is the easiest and cheapest way to sort this, please a note to the hang the high boys on this forum Yes I know it was wrong to overstay but I had a slight cash flow problem but that has now been sorted.

    Cheers cool.gif

  4. Excluding hospital treatment or a family emergency there is really no excuse for overstaying more than a day or two. I would suggest that a fair proportion of those who overstay are the sort of expat that the kingdom wants rid of and most decent expats want rid of.

I'm not sure about banging people up for this but I'm all for blacklisting those without a valid excuse and making them pay their own way home. US and Australia to name but a few wouldn't stand for this crap, so why should Thailand. Play the game straight and you don't get into bother

I Have a friend that is on a 2 years overstay he has a Thai wife and a child an is working and looking after them, If he returns to the UK and if he is very lucky he may get a min paid job and be able to send a bit of money back but will never be able to save the money to return to see his wife and child if he cannot find work which will probably be the case then his wife and child will go hungry so if that is a crime the I think the law stinks, I am amazed at the compassion you senior member's show its about time you lot got of you golden high horse.

Not everyone that overstays if a criminal

  5. Why give an amnesty - if you overstay then you have broken the law. You do not do it accidentally you set out to do it so take the punishment. I am all for the law being applied fairly and firmly. A period in the slammer would at least go some way to making sure these people do not do it again but I think it should be a day for day punishment overstay 50 days then 50 days inside. Blacklisting is pointless as it only ensures that the passport does not return to the kingdom it does nothing to stop the person getting a new passport and re-entering under a new name etc etc.

As soon as Thailand does something positriver everyone thinks they do it for money - well I can asure you that most countries have strict immigration laws and they apply them - Thailand tolerates foreigners and we should never forget we are mere visitors in the kingdom and should act accordingly.

Put them in the slammer day for day.

you know your all bloody heart Meaowma I just hope you never break the law but then I suppose you to holy for that

  6. Well said I am from London and I see people there and not just tourists being ripped of all the time, why is it the ex pats on this forum take great pleasure in putting Thailand in a bad light , I have been living here for 5 years now and I feel safer here than I do in my own country. Ok Thailand has its problems but so do other country's

This is terrible. Its a common scam. My friend lost the prices of 2 tickets to England 4 years ago from another travel Agent in Chiang Mai. The Police where not interested. But threatened to arrest my friend if he caused a breach of the peace.

Another example that ripping people off in this country is fine but don't complain its not polite.

Sounds like just the sort of thing that happens in the UK. Some of you think these things just happen in Thailand. Try being a tourist in Britain and you'll soon find out that these scams are plentiful there as well. There are bad people all over the world, so no point just blaming Thais.

  7. Why so many idiotic, hatred and childish comments here??

The people are REALLY affected. The busineeses are REALLY need support. And all of those workers are not the ones who made problems - now they just need to survive after the terror right below their windows. Those who dislike the red's actions - please just come and sue them, it is ANOTHER story for ANOTHER topic!

Talking about "bangkok should be back" - but very ironic in every step on this long way...??

A very nice "support" from all of you, yeah, who dare to call this land "a home"...

Shame on you all. Get back to your holes and dont bark on the wind, if unable to say something more meaningful.

Ask help from people you respect !

    Surely not the farang !

And as long they call me farang ,

    i call them "china-man"

For the rest i dont interfere with politics,

    get a life or work.

Then maybe you should piss of back to where you once came from, it seems that no matter what Thailand does to help improve things there will always be the self centred ex pat that have nothing better to do but complain go home if you dont like it me I love Thailand

  8. Every single Thai I know supports this man - I hope in the weeks and months ahead, he shows everyone a path towards peace, reconciliation and unity.

Why doesn't that surprise me? Being a member of PAD I should imagine you are quite cut off from the rest of the world.

Every decent Thai I know thinks he is the leader of the most evil government Thailand has known for decades.

Don't think the rest of the world doesn't know what went on in Thailand in the last few days. All the manipulation of the Thai press and the take over of Thai Visa Forums will not suppress the truth indefinitely.

The people of Thailand will learn the truth over time.

However, I too hope for reconciliation and unity, but that won't come through people like you.

And it wont come through people like you ether will it with talk like "Every decent Thai I know thinks he is the leader of the most evil government Thailand has known for decades"

Have you spoke to every decent Thai, The Thai government showed great restraint in this matter in any other western country the police would of moved it with tear gas and water cannons before the week was out.

  9. i'm sure there will be a lot of 'armchair general' farangs happy that the army are just shooting unarmed people!

Have a look at this picture. Can anybody see a just reason for killing this person??

    http://image.ohozaa.com/is/28931_397050999...3_2895502_n.jpg

dont be a dick head how do you know what he was doing to get shot, the reds speak peace and all they have done is brought misery to the rest of Thailand both Farang and Thai alike rely on tourism and this is destroying it.

both myself and my Thai wife hate seeing Thai killing Thai so lets keep your stupid remarks up your ass where they belong please

  10. a sad day for a man that only wanted to stay in the country he loved (rest in piece)

    Self-exiled Aussie dies in Bangkok

A Melbourne man who preferred to live in a crowded Bangkok immigration cell rather than return to Australia has died.

Colin Hansch, 61, told Thai authorities he would rather stay in jail than return to Australia, even though he only slept on a mat and received a small serve of rice and soup each day.

"I've not been back to Australia for 30 years. I don't want to go back. I've got nothing to go back to," Mr Hansch said last year.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed Mr Hansch's death in a police hospital in Bangkok.

The spokesman declined to reveal the cause of death.

People who visited him in the detention centre say he probably died from an overdose of prescription medicine.

Mr Hansch, a computer engineer who left Australia decades ago, refused offers by the Australian embassy in Bangkok to issue him a limited Australian travel document to allow him to return to Australia.

It is believed he wanted a passport so he could again leave Australia.

Mr Hansch had been detained at the Immigration Centre in Bangkok, near the Australian embassy, since September 2004.

He was transferred there, supposedly pending deportation, after serving two years in a Bangkok jail for assault causing bodily harm that related to a dispute with a bar girl in the tourist resort city of Pattaya.

There are about 25 Australians among thousands of foreigners being held in Thai jails, most of them for drug related offences.

Nicholas Zemlianski, another elderly prisoner from Melbourne, is believed to be unwell in a prison hospital in Bangkok.

Australia has an agreement with Thailand that allows prisoners there to be transferred to Australian jails but the process is intensely bureaucratic and there have been only a handful of exchanges.

  12. I am O Neg live in Samui if I can help please let me know (email address removed by mods)

Not sure about the Thai Red Cross, but the Aust Red Cross doesn't allow donations from anyone that has had sex with a Thai in Thailand during the past 10 years. Sex with a Thai in any other country is OK, but apparently Thai people pick up HIV going through immigration in Thailand. This is according to a Dr at the Parramatta branch of the Blood Bank. Due to this, my 50th was my last. I'm O+, so not much help this time - hope the rules with the RCBB are a bit better there.

No flames - this happened & I'm not happy with them over it.

  13. Thanks to all of you for your excellent comments and advice.
