  1. Hong Kong & Macau are a lot more expensive.....

15000kip is only around 60thb, which is cheaper than almost anywhere in Thailand, for a 640ml beer. You can also rent homes cheaper, but have to put in the leg work.

Worst thing in Laos are the tuk tuks.... serious rip off..... But busses are dirt cheap......

Really don't know how you came to this conclusion.........

  2. It is basically aimed at the bordering nations people coming to work.... thus thousands have returned home to get propper visas & will return.

    Although;

There's no harm in weeding out the farrangs who scrape a measly living also.... of which there are (too) many.

Look at all the drunk ass cheap bar 'owners' who border run, insurance 'salesmen' & general villains (drug sellers mebbee?).....not forgetting the 1000's of overstayers, who can't be arsed or can't afford the funds for a border/visa run, cos they spend all their satangs on cheap beer & thai whiskey/rum....

Next weed out the retirees who basically moan their asses off cos their pensions 'aren't what they used to be'.... 10 years ago..... Course they're not!! Times change & hopefully big changes are coming to the Land of Smiles......

...Just my honest opinion.... wink.png No hard feelings to the majority of posters on here btw......

  3. Hi All,

I need to have my son's Thai birth certificate translated into English in order to attach him to my Blue Card here in Macau. At present when my girlfriend returns to Los she is staying in Bangkok to learn English, therefore if anyone knows of a place in Bangkok, that would be perfect.

Also I have been asked to provide a certificate to prove my girlfriend is single! Has anyone heard of this & if so, where can she go to get one (in Bangkok)? I also have to provide proof that I am single which we do not have in England!

Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. With regard to a British passport for your son, his qualification will depend upon whether you are British "otherwise than by descent" or not.

Perhaps the honorary consulate in Macao can be of assistance.

    Scouse.

Yes Scouse, I am British by descent with both my parents born & raised there & grandparents etc....

I've written to the British Consulate in Honk Kong to see where I stand.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

  5. In my opinion, if any self respecting bloke reads this & still pays up, they've been out in the sun too long & drunk too much Thai whisky & Chang! (as well as being absolutely pussy whipped)

What a helpful chappie Mr Stickman is.

Sounds like there are a couple of old duffers on here (& all the other Thai forums) who paid over the odds. Then again if you're old, bald, fat & lonely, what the hel_l? Sad!

I personally make a good living & think 300,000 is a lot of money to be giving away!!!!!

I agree with a2396 & Awk, nice one.

Seems that Maigo6 could either be a rich, retired, lonely Farang? or maybe a Thai chick?

Good luck to Phantom200 & please use your head pal & don't get suckered!!

  6. Hi Everyone, I hope you can help me.

At the moment I live in Macau & my Thai girlfriend & our son stay with me for two months at a time, before going back to Thailand for visa reasons.

I'm considering going to the UK next year for two weeks so my girlfriend can see where I'm from. (I'm not that keen!!)

Could any of you please explain how I go about getting a visa for my girlfriend & will my son need one as he has my second name.

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all in advance.

  7. Come out of arrivals where you get taxis & turn left. If you go to the last bus stop on your right it's a free one that takes staff & travellers to the bus station (about 3 stops & 10 minutes max) where you get the bus to Pattaya which has a toilet on it & air-con for the grand total of 110 baht (I took it in July) It takes around 1 3/4 hours, job done! It is really straight forward & simple.

    Blunt.
