  1. Hello,i have been in thailand for approx 20 days so far and and am planning on staying for another 3 weeks.Have spoken to a couple of people about extending it by 2 weeks. Some say i can and some say i cant.Went to the immigration office in samui today and they said i can get a 7 day extension for 1900 baht!! which sounds expensive to me.And then i read somewhere that tourist visas are now free to promote more tourism etc are they only giving free ones to people who aren't already in the country?.Is there another way of doing it without flying out of the country?thanks for any replys.

  2. never saw anyone else in there apart from jane and her friend who was called 'pai' or similar, but yes she would have been around early-mid thirties i would say but don't think it was on a corner.I am pretty sure i have been down every street in that area 2+ times today and can't find it.

    'statment whereabouts is 'tiny'?

  3. Last time i was in pai 2 years ago there was a company that would rent you a motorbike so you could ride to changmai and leave it there and carry on your way.I can't remember the name of the company but i presume they have a depot in chang mai aswell.Anyone know what i am taling about?or anyone know of somewhere else that will do this from changmai to pai?

  4. quote""

there are so many bars within 100 meters off of muan muang up small roads it'd be impossible to even guess at where you're talking about... quote""

that would depend if someone knew that the bar called 'janes bar' still exists i suppose!!

Winnie, will give those places a try tonight, thanks

  5. yes sorry,i know theres not much to go on there.I saw the sax bar last night as i was going around but didnt go in.The place i am looking for is on the same side of the waterway as that and less than 100 meters off the moon muang, only a small place with a glass front and its up a small road.Wouldnt say it was a bar girl type place, just that when i was here before we had a good laugh with jane, the owner.

  6. just arrived in chang mai,i was here about 2 years ago and cant seem to find the places i went to back then.I seem to remember a street that had a couple of good places on,one of the bars i am sure was called 'janes' or at least the owners name was that, pretty sure it was near 'maddogs' although i could be wrong. :o

  7. The bike i have used for the last 5 years when i visit Samui is now too broken to consider repair.

My GF says that her mother could get us a new Honda kick(from somewhere in the north of the country) for 30000 deposit payed upfront and then 25000 to be payed next May.Does that sound like a good deal? i am currently in France working so can't really check myself.Anyone know the cost of what it would be to buy outright?thanks

  8. I have a friend who lives on samui, she works as a waitress in chaweng.Over the last few months she has been talking about having her nose done(she has a flat nose).Apparently Bandon hospital will do it for 9000 baht.I have told her many times she doesnt need it etc simply for the fact of the risk of something going wrong, although i do actually think she would benefit from the work.I have heard bandon is known as a bit of a butchery, am i right in trying to talk her out of it?

  9. Over the next few months i need to send several small amounts over to thailand, approx 2-3000 baht each time. However i am struggling to find any affordable way of doing it.Western union charge a minimum of something around 1000baht which kind of defeats the object, anyone know of a lower/free!! way of doing it?thanks in advance

  10. I need to send a mobile phone from here in England to someone on Koh samui,is it worth the risk?,i read in LP or something that island mail hasnt got the best reputation, this was a few yers ago, have things improved?.

  11. quote''Thats just as dumb on the downside..

I know a restaurant that cant keep its staff.. The unskilled girls they employ (basic rudimentary english only) get 12k per month + tips for waiting tables.. So with some tips in there 60k is 4 months work for a unskilled female waitress.. So average unskilled females make 300k USD per year !! Every second bike round here is on red plates, 2007 mios / nuovos / airblades / etc galore..

The economy I see around me you dont get any kind of worker for <10k per month''

which area do you live in?its more like 6k plus 6k in tips down on Koh samui and gullivers in bangkok.
