In around 50 arrivals at Swampy, I have never been refused, nor have I ever been asked to pay more than the meter.  Though, I often volunteer to pay more because I like a driver who isn't working on that last frayed nerve in his body.  Having a happy driver makes a palpable difference in the ride, and well worth the $5 (+/-) extra I offer right out of the lot.  It's still the cheapest taxi ride I get around the world.

I'd gladly accept a separate and higher price for a ride from Swampy.  Hopefully, it would come with stricter standards for the age and condition of the vehicle.  But even at +50%, Swampy to town would still be a cheap ride compared to the majority of airport taxis around the world.

You will be better of by the limousine service, for your own peace of mind. All others have slightly different experiences.......

I saw the bills for a Thai lady with no visible means of support who had 60k plus baht owing for over 4 months.....

I am sure there are many with far higher totals than that

My ex Thai GF with a 30K salary as an HR officer had a total credit limit of 140K on 3 Credit Cards. She started whining to me when she was 120K in debt. Yes, holiday trips to Korea, Japan and Macau, and all in one year are not that cheap. But not my problem as it is an EX!

Songkran Atchariyasap, a lawyer who chairs a Facebook-based network that professes to target threats to the nation, religion and monarchy.

Unbelievable that such a modern nation as Thailand is, with only well educated and liberal people, do accept the deeds of this weirdo.

What are the threats to the nation by some naked girls? This must be a man which makes a business from searching the net for any Thai girl in her knickers or less. Get a life and go to any shopping mall and get the Victoria Secret or La Senza shops closed.....

  4. Nerdling, you cannot predict the future. 8 years ago I met a lovely 34 years old Bachelors educated girl in a proper bar where she was just by occasion as her friend was the manager. To make a long story short, 8 years went on perfectly with me visiting her for about 70 days a year and daily LINE contact. Already in the beginning I told her that we both should run our own household but that I would financially support her in case of emergencies. And I did that, besides the lumpsums I left her on every trip. Not to speak about the gifts, trips all around Asia luxury hotels and one trip to my home country in Europe. We talked about marriage too, often. But I only wanted that when I could reside in Bangkok. Even when she was aware of a substancial asset value and a monthly spendable amount of 200K Baht, she recently asked me for an all in of 4 million Baht in her bankaccount to marry her, to secure her future... (and possibly walk on to the next within a years time). You will never understand the logic of a Thai woman. She could have had an easy life without any money issues. What did she do, and I found out, she was dating an Australian Facebook friend for over 7 months and thought he would marry her sooner. But she was not so lucky when she found out that that guy was divorced, had a major cut in his pensions and not willing to pay any high sin sod. Now she is crying for getting me back. I only told her to land on her feet, wipe the dollar signs from your eyes, realize that nobody signs blank cheques and make a fresh start without any financial expectations, but not with me. Stupid <deleted>!

  5. Main reason is to secure the woman's future. A lot of them at around 40-45 went through the cheating of Thai boyfriends at younger age. I know a few. So they all want security with a lump sum in the bank from sin sod. The latter I had long and agitated discussions about as it looks they, MiSo Bachelors in Bangkok, do not or are not willing to understand the principle of a 70% widow pension in case of. The missus wanted 2 mio in her bankaccount + 50K USD for daddy. And 20k monthly, before all the running and household costs. Finally I said no way and we broke up. She thought an Aussie guy would pay that, but I told that guy what she asked me for. On her 2nd trip to Australia she had the guts to ask the same, only dropped the 50K. The guy changed her return ticket so that she could fly back a week earlier. Stupid cow, and that all in the light of a current asset value of over 20 mio Baht. Some women will never get it.

Only an utter idiot would try to pass of fake currency in a bank?

Before the usual bashing may start here, perhaps explore the fact that maybe the Uzbeki was himself ripped of someplace else when buying the US$?..

After all the U$ dollar is anongst the most counterfeited bill in the world!!

This could happen to you...assuming one day, a scammer gives you bogus bills as change, or even in a bank?...how will you prove you are innocent if straighforwardly you are declared guilty in possessing the bogus bills?...disturbing....

Just get them from an ATM, at least in Cambodia, and let the machine print a receipt slip.

    thanks for solving the mystery:smile:

2 PM doesn't sound to me like a very practical time to make that journey?

Well, arriving in Hua Hin late afternoon, an evening out and more ... with the other morning return is not too bad. Only the price is a little steep for an ST get together.
