  2. Thanks ;-). that was what I feared, after checking the us console site a month ago.. but it seems that things have very recently changed. I called the US Consular services and was informed that they have an affidavit form that suffices (needs translation, of course ,and costs $50US to certify).. so i checked online again to se the forms and sure enough there is new form that you simply fill out the important info..

so will go with that and report bak after my experience.

    cheers

  3. Hi, thanks in advance this is a very interesting site full of useful information.

I was married and divorced in the USA and know that I need a Divorce certificate to marry my Thai woman. I do not have the original certificate, My question is the following.

Does anyone know if I can print out the Case Summary from the Court website, have that translated and use it as proof of divorce here in Thailand?

Or do I need to get an official print out from the court?

    thanks again

  4. 1 last quick point.

i saw how official boats went up and down the river almost daily for the last 2 months.. this had not happened more than a few times before over the last year. it seemed to me that they were checking things out, but i never saw any clean ups at all.

this was one of the factors that made me leave just in time to side step this slow moving train wreck.

maybe next time they'll do more than just warn or maybe mai pan rai... ;-)

in Peru, where i was born and lived for many years, many people like to settle on clearly marked dry river beds during long dry spells (big signs - don't build your home here) and then cry when their homes are washed away when El Niño stops by for a visit....

best wishes for a fast cleanup with intelligent preventive measures

  5. i lived along the Mae Nam Ping for almost 2 years and enjoyed watching it for hours every day. i

saw how it goes up and down with the rains and how it is perpetually and increasingly clogged and polluted with plastic, , styrofoam, old mattresses and just about anything that can be thrown away.

I watched all the local thais around my home pile their trash into the river.

i requested from each one that i saw, to please protect the river. they all looked at my like i was crazy.

i saw a huge pile of trash created by my closest neighbor float over to me and then when i asked them to help me clean it up, the straight faced answer was ' that's not mine, i didn't make it..."

I saw how these same people loved to fish and swim and collect edible plants from the shores and i saw how their skin broke out in more rashes and how they sickened and 2 of my neighbors actually died, but not before their families , including their children dumped several meter high piles of non biodegradable rubbish into the river.

i called the local river protection office and they had no response.

i drew the line when a hill tribe family started dumping raw feces into the river and called them on it in a manner that clearly pointed out to them that they were eating the same shit every day them and they immeadiately stopped

the streets and drainage pipes are used as ashtrays and trash bins.....

saw how all of my thai neighbors destroyed dozens of old beautiful trees along the banks to sell for a few thousand baht worth of lumber.

i saw how local farmers use cheap;y available extremely toxic pesticides and fertilizers to save money and grow food faster..

I also saw how the water went up over 1.5 m. in 24 hours about 2 months ago. and how nothing was really done to prevent this flod that has ben giving signs for a very long time.

about 3 weeks ago i got a clear picture in my head of the river flooding. it was so sharp and realistic that my wife and I , who also saw it this same picture, decided 2 weeks ago, it was time to move.

so we moved and now our beautiful former home is buried in nasty smelly mud...

people from around the world have been mistreating nature, either by directly dumbing on it, or indirectly over producing the cheep quality materials we can buy from stores and stalls around the globe, and very insidiously by producing known toxins that kill fauna and erosion protecting flora.

we are all jointly responsible for this mess. as most would rather spend resources of recreation and consumerism and war instead of a good clean up our the only home we have. ;-)

and yes of course weather patters will change and deserts will become jungles and visa versa.

this particular mess cold have been mitigated with a conscious and intentional clean ups and directed educational programs.

chiang mai has become filthy dirty and polluted . the air is filthy, the water is poisonous and the soil is soiled.

nature has a way of flushing the toilette every now and then.

the real question is: any chance we can learn from this and avoid the next one? because it will only get worse.

  6. Hello, I am a certified hypnotherapy with training in stop smoking hypnosis, NLP and I am a biochemist & molecular biologist. I just moved out of CM and am currently living in the south. I am happy to give you some myth dispelling truths about smoking addiction and you can take it from there.

    truth:

    1) if you smoke up to 1 pack of cigarettes per day, you do not have enough nicotine in your system to be 'physically addicted' . Your addiction is psychological and hypnosis will easily give you the tools to modify this behavior. If you smoke more than a pack a day, then you will have to reduce your intake to a 1 pack/day or less, in order for hypnotherapy to , or anything else to help you. so this is your first critical step. you will need to smoke a pack or less for at least 1 month prior to attempting hypnotherapy.

    3) it takes 10 days to overcome a physical addiction ( 10 days is the half-life of the receptors in your brain that are seeking the external stimulation - i.e., in 10 days of reducing your smoking to a pack or less/day, you will no longer be physically addicted from smoking 2 packs/ day, in 20 days you will be free from physical dependence from 3 packs /day.

so just 'bite the bullet' and choose to reduce your intake to less than a pack a day. this is an absolute requirement, do or die, so to speak straight "pom chop pud throng throng na"

    3) you and all humans, are actually capable of dropping this 1 pack/day habit in as little as 1 hour , but for many, it will take about 3-5 weeks, ( 1 - 2 60-90 min sessions per week) for some it will take longer. a well designed hypnotherapy smoking cessation program will take about 5 sessions. The first session will prep you , the second session will break the habit, the remaining sessions will deepen the work and give you just the right amount of support, give or take a session or 2.

    4) all hypnosis is actually self hypnosis, in this case with a guide. know this to empower yourself. you will be doing the work and the changes, as nobody can do it for you. this means that you have to be authentically willing and accept that you may fall back and then get back up and so on, until you learn how to master this unconscious aspect of your mind... nice and easy works best.

    5) habits ( and this is the most addictive aspect of smoking) take about 21 days to break. you must learn how to bring awareness to your habit, and this awareness, coupled with very simple relaxation exercises, will help you be free. in reality, if you meditate while you smoke ( not smoke while you meditate !) you will see how easy it is to be free ;-)

    6) . zero judgements. be gentle and compassionate with yourself. we are bombarded and overwhelmed with pr scientifically and psychologically designed to enter and manipulate our subconscious mind in order to purchase 'nicotine delivery devices', aka cigarettes. you can easily learn how to filter this psychological 'spam' by simply using your awareness of it. and you will be able to master this ;-) download and watch "A Century of Self" - 4 part series by the BBC for revealing insights in how corporations, governments, religions and special interest groups use advanced mind manipulation technology ' basically commercial hypnosis and NLP NeuroLinguistic Programming, very interesting , insightful and revealing ^^

    7) know that the most important component of this work is about directly finding , purging and transcending long standing and acting self destructive imprints and conditionings we all imprint in our childhood. once these are cleared, smoking or not smoking is no longer relevant. in other words, get to the root of the problems and they all fade away , especially when smoking is coupled with drinking, drugs, gambling, unhealthy sex, and other self destructive habits and behaviors, etc..;-)

finally, if what i have written here resonates with you, feel free to pm me for more info... and in the meantime, I am contacting a cm hypnotherapist who may be experienced enough to guide you on this journey.

    cheers ^^
